Safe & Sexy #36 ~ Hard Sell

Safe & Sexy #36 ~ Hard Sell

Safe and Sexy Thinking of my romances and safe sex at the same time started when I wrote my discussion post with the same name a long time ago! Not too long after, the idea of sharing quotes about that ensured that the feature Safe and Sexy was born. It’s where I will share a quote from a story I have read, and where there is a lot of hotness and sexiness, but where they still take the time to be safe! It’s important to me to read books that make me dream, but I also want them to be somewhat realistic. And to me, characters seem realistic when they take care of themselves and their partner(s)! Safe sex is a […]

Thirsty Thursday & Hungry Hearts #157 ~ The Triangle

Thirsty Thursday & Hungry Hearts #157 ~ The Triangle

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookworms. So many of the books we read have food or drinks in them, some we’d love to try, and others we’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab our logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to us in your own post. The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Cocky Bastard ~ Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Cocky Bastard ~ Penelope Ward & Vi Keeland

Lexxie and I buddy read Cocky Bastard – although she read while I listened. We both enjoyed this second chance at romance story that was fun as well as deep. What did you think about their first meeting? And the subsequent road trip? The first meeting had me laugh out loud for real! And man, Chance really was a cocky bastard *laughs*. The road trip was awesome – I felt like I was travelling with them. I loved that they listened to music, stopped for food, and just chatted about so many different subjects. Even if Chance was very careful about not sharing one aspect of his own life. The Obama bobble-head! *grins* Yes, that was funny. I enjoyed their […]

New Release Review ~ Someone I Used to Know ~ Patty Blount #2018NewRelease

New Release Review ~ Someone I Used to Know ~ Patty Blount #2018NewRelease

Every once in awhile a young adult book comes along that is so profound I want to shout from the rooftop about its greatness. Someone I Used to Know is such a book. Revolving around rape culture in America, it depicts the impact of rape on the victim, the victim’s family, and the community. Blount did this in a way that was relevant, meaningful, and packed an emotional punch. Ashley, a high school freshman at the time, was raped. By a senior football player. In an effort to score points in a “game” the players historically participated in during homecoming week. Following the rape, the football program was cancelled. Now, two years later, it’s been re-instituted with a new […]

Blogger Wife/Reader Wife Chat Review ~ The Air He Breathes ~ Brittainy C. Cherry

Blogger Wife/Reader Wife Chat Review ~ The Air He Breathes ~ Brittainy C. Cherry

Lexxie and I roped our reader wife, Denise, into reading and chatting about The Air He Breathes with us. (her comments are in orange.) This will not be the last time y’all see reviews of Brittainy Cherry’s work here. We *all* loved this one! This story was chock full of twists and turns that we never saw coming. It was a gripping story as well as poignant and suspenseful. I’m thrilled we chose The Air He Breathes for us to buddy read! I thought the way Liz was introduced was interesting – how her history with her mom was conveyed. How did you feel that history was relevant to Liz? I felt that the other relationships her mother had defiantly played […]

Review ~ Found in You ~ Laurelin Paige

Review ~ Found in You ~ Laurelin Paige

I seriously read Found in You with my gut churning, just waiting for that “thing” I knew was going to happen to happen. And when it did… Here’s thing though: I get a little annoyed with characters who cause themselves trouble because they don’t communicate. I understand the why behind it in this case but I still found it annoying. What I found amazing was Ms. Paige’s ability to develop these characters that seemed innocuous on the surface and yet I *KNEW* I couldn’t trust them. Found in You is really all about trust. Hudson and Laynie are still working at building that between them and boy do they have a lot of forces against them…the biggest of those […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review/Thirsty Thursday & Hungry Hearts #157 ~ Rock F*ck Club #3 ~ Michelle Mankin

Blogger Wife Chat Review/Thirsty Thursday & Hungry Hearts #157 ~ Rock F*ck Club #3 ~ Michelle Mankin

Holy Hotness! I do believe Rock F*ck Club #3 is Mankin’s hottest book to date! It had to up the ante to follow up Raven and Lucky’s story and Mankin delivered! Mankin always takes on weighty topics and Rock F*ck Club is no exception. How do you think she did with exploring a woman’s right to explore her sexuality, self-worth, and true friendship? I think she did really well! And that’s mostly because she showed us that it’s still a struggle. I think in many cases, women have to struggle no matter if they are dealing with a man or a woman. I also enjoyed how part of this story was a true eye-opener to Marsha. Who had kind of […]

Review ~ Breach ~ K.I. Lynn

Review ~ Breach ~ K.I. Lynn

Oh my! So I read Breach because it’s been hanging around on my kindle for, um, a few years, and because K.I. Lynn was attending Bookish Denver (summer of 2017) so I decided it was high time I get this one read! And, as happens often, I’m kicking myself for not having read it sooner! Y’all, I’m almost vibrating in anticipation of the next books in the series (luckily I bought the boxset at some point) because I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! Highlights: Office Romance And Nathan isn’t Delilah’s boss! Nathan and Delilah are both contract attorneys and office mates. Office romance is a favorite trope of mine anyway but this one is done so well – […]

Review ~ The Choices I’ve Made ~ J.L. Berg

Review ~ The Choices I’ve Made ~ J.L. Berg

I’m a sucker for second-chance romances so The Choices I’ve Made was right up my alley. Add in the small-town setting and this had the makings of a great read. And while I enjoyed Jake and Molly’s story, there was some telling rather than showing in the character development that kept them from being as complex as they could’ve been. Jake and Molly were high school sweethearts who’d believed nothing could ever tear them apart. Then Jake lost his mom and couldn’t deal with the grief and ghosts so he left his island home in search of a new life. Molly was left alone to pick up the pieces and try to move on without her soulmate. Twelve years later, […]
