Some promises are meant to be broken...
Veritas spent most of her life as a vampire Law Guardian. Now, she's about to break every rule by secretly hunting down the dark souls that were freed in order to save Ian. But the risks are high. For if she gets caught, she could lose her job. And catching the sinister creatures might cost Veritas her own life.
Some vows are forever...
Ian's memories might be fragmented, but this master vampire isn't about to be left behind by the woman who entranced him, bound herself to him, and then disappeared. So what if demons, other Law Guardians, and dangerous, otherworldly forces stand against them? Come hell or high water, Ian intends to remind Veritas of the burning passion between them, because she is the only person seared on his mind--and his soul...
Oh good golly! Wicked Bite picks up where Shades of Wicked left us and hurtles us onto a thrilling, fast-paced continuation of Ian and Veritas’ story. And let me tell you – Ian made me love him even more in Wicked Bite and I didn’t think that was possible. 😉
Wicked Bite sees Veritas attempting to fulfill a promise by hunting down souls. She’s doing her damnedest while also avoiding Ian for…reasons. Events in the last book have Ian’s memories a little hazy but he remembers Veritas and his feelings for her quite clearly. However, Veritas is not only running from Ian’s memories – or her belief in the lack thereof. She’s also protecting him from the extreme danger she feels he’d face due to her mission of tracing down these souls that Dagon is also seeking.
As you may or may not know, I’m a huge fan of character growth in books. Wicked Bite has this in spades. So not only do we have the exciting and suspenseful elements of Veritas, and eventually Ian, hunting down souls and dodging Dagon. We also see both Veritas and Ian growing emotionally, learning to accept and trust themselves and one another. It was sheer beauty.
I appreciated how JFrost worked in characters I know and love as well as introducing new ones. The engaging and colorful cast only served to enhance an already amazing installment in this series. I’m excited and anxious for the final piece of Ian and Veritas’ story. I hope it’s as incredible as it’s promised to be!

Seeing characters from the other series is one of my favorite things about her books, always makes me smile so much!
I like to see characters grow too. Wonderful review!
