2023 New Release Challenge
The 2023 New Release Challenge is a year-long challenge in which we aim to read books released in 2023. Brandee and I are the sole hosts of the challenge, and we both hope many of you will sign up and participate! There is one post on the top of our homepage for all review links for the year, where the link is open for books you read and review each quarter. I also want to say a big thank you to Brandee’s oldest for creating our beautiful logo!!
In 2022, I read 41 books that counted for the New Release Challenge, and while that was lower than in previous years, I’m trying to up the ante for 2023. This is just one reason why we want to continue with the New Release Challenge. We both always tend to do better when someone cheers for me, and we cheer for them. Also, trying to make sure we are held accountable both for the ARCs I receive and books we buy is important to us.
As always, I have already created a 2023 Release shelf on Goodreads, if you want to check it out to help you be inspired ?
There is a Facebook Group for the New Release Challenge, to have a place where we can keep up with each other, cheer each other on, and get to know each other better. It is also a place where we can help each other find even more new releases. For those of you who have already participated, it’s the same group as before.
The rules for the 2023 New Release Challenge are simple:
- Books have to be released and reviewed in 2023.
- Other challenges can be used as well, if you are participating in the Netgalley / Edelweiss challenge or in the COYER challenge, books can count towards more than one challenge, as long as the ones you use for the 2023 New Release Reading Challenge qualify to the other rules.
- The minimum length for a book to qualify is 100 pages, it can be in any format though, physical, e-book, ARC or audiobook.
- The New Release Challenge is open from January 1st through December 31st 2023, and sign-ups are open until September 1st 2023.
- You don’t have to be a blogger to participate, you can link to your review on Goodreads or Booklikes instead – so don’t be shy!
- If you want to spread the love, please use #2023NewReleaseChallenge on Twitter ?
There are five levels in the 2023 New Release Challenge:
- 1-30 books per year – New Release Newbie
- 31-60 books per year – New Release Pro
- 61-100 books per year – New Release Veteran
- 101-200 books per year – New Release Enthusiast
- 200+ books per year – New Release Obsessed
To sign up, please link your sign-up post in the linky below, and also make sure you use the quarterly linky for your reviews. You can choose if you want to do monthly or quarterly challenge updates on your blog, but you will have the possibility to link up each quarter with your reviews.
2023 New Release Challenge link-up:
Good luck with the New Release Challenge for the new year! And best wishes for 2023.
YAY! I just love this challenge here. Its always good to pay attention to the new releases, I wasn’t as good about that this past year or not as good as I would have liked. Cheers to a great reading year in 2023.
I wasn’t as good with reading in general, and this challenge in particular in 2022, either. Here’s to 2023 being a great reading year, and a wonderful year for everything else, too.
To the wire here! I have my sign up post ready to go the minute the new year starts (in my time zone, that is)! Happy New Release Year!
Happy New Year Davida! I hope 2023 will treat you well in every respect. <3
I didn’t know about this challenge. I’m going to do it. I’ll be figuring out my challenges and signing up for them soon!
That’s awesome, Wendy! We love keeping track of new releases, both because of ARCs and because we tend to buy a lot 🙂
Happy New Year, Linda. Facebook has done something last year, and aparently thrown me out of the New Release Challenge Facebook group. I have no longer access. So I send you a member request again. Could you please be so kind and aprove it? Thank you and thank you for hosting it again this year *smile*
For me you never disappeared out of the group – does it work now, Vi?
Yes, it works, Linda. Thank you for your time and help. I apologize for all the confusion. It is my fault, that I am now a “double member” *sigh* (with my blog page and my personal page). Ugh. Despite that, have a great new week!
No worries, Vi 🙂 Better safe than sorry 🙂 Have a great week yourself.
Now we just need a linky to post our reviews of the new releases!
Already? Oh my gosh, you are so quick!! I have barely finished my first 2023 release myself 🙂 I’ll get right on it, Davida.
Okay, so… I did start reading it in late December, but it was January 1 when I finished reading it, and it was released January 3, so…
Oh, you did well, though! And now, the post is live 🙂 Go on ahead and post the very first link 🙂
Yay! Looking forward to knocking out some new releases (and having an excuse to do so) 😉 Thanks for hosting again Linda & Brandee!
Aweslom, Lilian. Good luck for 2023 🙂
I never knew challenges existed before this year and am now participating in 3, unless I find more. My blog is new too so hopefully everyone can help give it some love. I am a NetGalley reader and BOTM subscriber so hopefully will have quite a few 2023 releases going up. I look forward to seeing what everyone else is reading!
That’s awesome, Amanda Lyn! Welcome to the new release challenge. It’s nice to meet you 🙂
My sign up post is now up too. Happy reading to us all and lots of fun!
Thank you for hosting. I’m excited to join 🙂
