Audio Review ~ Marry in Haste ~ Anne Gracie

Audio Review ~ Marry in Haste ~ Anne Gracie

Marry in Haste was a little slow to start for me but as it was all necessary for world building and the pace eventually picked up, it was all worth the wait. What I most loved about Marry in Haste was the characters. Cal – the new Lord Ashendon – made himself out to be a man caring only of his service to his country. While that is noble, he was tender-hearted as well, showing his half-sisters and niece kindness and love even if those things were foreign to him. Em – who’d served as his half-sisters’ teacher – had endured so much at the hands of one who should’ve shown her unconditional love. I admired her strength and resilience. […]

Thirsty Thursday & Hungry Hearts #159 ~ Lady Luck

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookworms. So many of the books we read have food or drinks in them, some we’d love to try, and others we’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab our logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to us in your own post. The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ This Man Confessed ~ Jodi Ellen Malpas

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ This Man Confessed ~ Jodi Ellen Malpas

And here we are with This Man Confessed, the final installment of the This Man trilogy – although Malpas released #4 earlier this year. What do you think, wifey? Shall we read #4?  I definitely want to read #4, as I got that this summer as well… Now that I’ve come to really enjoy the story, I’m ready 😉    Finally we got the character development we were both wanting. Did you think it was worth the wait? Yes, it was worth the wait in many ways! But if I hadn’t already bought all three books, I’m not sure I would have bothered. I’m glad I did, though. Because we did get that character development, and we finally got to […]

Audio Review ~ Royal ~ Winter Renshaw

Audio Review ~ Royal ~ Winter Renshaw

Royal marks the first time I’ve tried Renshaw and while the story wasn’t perfect, I enjoyed the introduction. Royal introduces us to the Rosewood family and the small town of Rixton Falls. When we first meet Demi, the eldest of the Rosewood girls, she’s head-over-heels for her older brother’s best friend, Royal, and they’re making plans to spend their lives together. Flash forward 7 years later, Demi is reeling from her former fiance’s accident which has left him in a coma – reeling because he and she are the only ones who know he called things off. She, therefore, is having to play the part of dutiful fiancee. On top of all that, Royal appears at her front door wanting […]

Audio Review ~ From Mom to Me Again ~ Melissa Shultz

Audio Review ~ From Mom to Me Again ~ Melissa Shultz

While not everything applied to me, From Mom to Me Again offered some good advice for the transition from mom to empty-nest parent. Shultz provided tips on starting the transition during my kids’ senior year – so I’m happy I decided to listen to this when I did. She also offered advice on self-care as well as on transitioning your marriage from focusing on parenting back to focusing on being a couple. Take Away Items It’s okay to take time for ME – which is difficult when your focus has been your kids for so long Try doing new things, learning new skills. This not only aids in changing your focus, it also might uncover a new passion. It’s normal […]

Safe & Sexy #37 ~ Secrets of a (Somewhat) Sunny Girl

Safe & Sexy #37 ~ Secrets of a (Somewhat) Sunny Girl

Safe and Sexy Thinking of my romances and safe sex at the same time started when I wrote my discussion post with the same name a long time ago! Not too long after, the idea of sharing quotes about that ensured that the feature Safe and Sexy was born. It’s where I will share a quote from a story I have read, and where there is a lot of hotness and sexiness, but where they still take the time to be safe! It’s important to me to read books that make me dream, but I also want them to be somewhat realistic. And to me, characters seem realistic when they take care of themselves and their partner(s)! Safe sex is a […]

New Release Review ~ Soulfire ~ Juliette Cross

New Release Review ~ Soulfire ~ Juliette Cross

The Vampire Blood series kicked off my fangirling for JCross’ writing. That series was unique and refreshing and Soulfire – equally unique and refreshing – served to intensify my affection for JCross’ story telling talent. I didn’t write this review right away because I just didn’t have the time but I have to admit that this story and my feelings about it have only improved up reflection. Soulfire has action, romance, suspense, and a message all wrapped up in a Romeo and Juliet-style love story…only with a better ending. 😉 Highlights: Premise and Execution of Plot A myth about the creation of the Morgons – a hybrid dragon/human species – is how the story begins. I appreciated how JCross used this to […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ The Triangle ~ J.A. Huss & Johnathan McClain

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ The Triangle ~ J.A. Huss & Johnathan McClain

It seems as thought Huss has pulled McClain over to the “dark side” as it were. 😉 This collaboration is more of what I’d come to expect from Huss but with that little more “oomph” from McClain. I loved it. It’s dark, twisty, sexy, action-packed, and leaves you (or at least me) thinking, “Wow. Um, what?!?” It made me think. A lot. Think not only about what was going on – and I’m not certain I ever figured it all out – but also about whether or not we ever really know someone…and do we really know ourselves? I CANNOT WAIT FOR BOOK TWO!! There was so much going on – between the mystery, the suspense, the criminal activity, the […]

New Release Review ~ Hard Sell ~ Lauren Layne #2018NewRelease

New Release Review ~ Hard Sell ~ Lauren Layne #2018NewRelease

After meeting Sabrina and Matt in Hot Asset, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Hard Sell to find out the story between these two. I was not disappointed. The chemistry was visceral, the banter snarky-sexy, and the back stories were compelling. Layne is quickly becoming a contemporary romance favorite of mine. Matt needs an image overhaul STAT! Pictures of him partying it up in Vegas were printed in the Wall Street Journal, making his clients question his credibility which is NOT a good thing when you’re managing millions in assets. Sabrina is a “fixer” so Matt seeks out her help in the plot his employers have concocted…that he’s ready to settle down. He knows Sabrina is perfect for […]
