2022 New Release Challenge
The 2022 New Release Challenge is a year-long challenge in which we aim to read books released in 2022. Brandee and I are the sole hosts of the challenge, and we both hope many of you will sign up and participate! There is one post on the top of our homepage for all review links for the year, where the link is open for books you read and review each quarter. I also want to say a big thank you to Brandee’s oldest for creating our beautiful logo!!
In 2021, I read 92 books that counted for the New Release Challenge, and I don’t see why this should be any different for 2022. This is just one reason why we want to continue with the New Release Challenge. We both always tend to do better when someone cheers for me, and we cheer for them. Also, trying to make sure we are held accountable both for the ARCs I receive and books we buy is important to us.
As always, I have already created a 2022 Release shelf on Goodreads, if you want to check it out to help you be inspired ?
There is a Facebook Group for the New Release Challenge, to have a place where we can keep up with each other, cheer each other on, and get to know each other better. It is also a place where we can help each other find even more new releases. For those of you who have already participated, it’s the same group as before.
The rules for the 2022 New Release Challenge are simple:
- Books have to be released and reviewed in 2022.
- Other challenges can be used as well, if you are participating in the Netgalley / Edelweiss challenge or in the COYER challenge, books can count towards more than one challenge, as long as the ones you use for the 2021 New Release Reading Challenge qualify to the other rules.
- The minimum length for a book to qualify is 100 pages, it can be in any format though, physical, e-book, ARC or audiobook.
- The New Release Challenge is open from January 1st through December 31st 2022, and sign-ups are open until September 1st 2022.
- You don’t have to be a blogger to participate, you can link to your review on Goodreads or Booklikes instead – so don’t be shy!
- If you want to spread the love, please use #2022NewReleaseChallenge on Twitter ?
There are five levels in the 2022 New Release Challenge:
- 1-30 books per year – New Release Newbie
- 31-60 books per year – New Release Pro
- 61-100 books per year – New Release Veteran
- 101-200 books per year – New Release Enthusiast
- 200+ books per year – New Release Obsessed
To sign up, please link your sign-up post in the linky below, and also make sure you use the quarterly linky for your reviews. You can choose if you want to do monthly or quarterly challenge updates on your blog, but you will have the possibility to link up each quarter with your reviews.
I’ll probably be a Pro again this year! I’ll link my first new release review (scheduled for January 3) to both this post and the first quarterly link page, if that’s okay with you ladies!
Hi Davida 🙂 And it’s so nice to ‘see’ you again!
For sure your first review can be your official sign-up.
I’m already preparing the link-up post, and it should go live on January 1st 2022.
I hope you’re doing well.
Thanks! Hope your holiday was lovely!
I will be reading the 101-200 books. My 2021 new release shelf on good reads has 201 books , but I read a lot more this year. I mostly read ARC’s and they are all new releases. On to reading.

That’s awesome, Shirley! Well done for 2021. Good luck for the 2022 challenge 🙂 I wish you a wonderful New Year.
Thank you for hosting!! I look forward to this one every year.
Thanks for participating, Cheryl.
Thanks for doing this again! Though with the new job, I’m finding it harder to read as much. I still do, just not as many books as in years past!
I’ve missed the deets about your new job, Jessica. Congratulations.
And thanks for participating once more. Good luck 🙂
So glad this challenge is back for another year, I always have fun… even when I don’t quite meet my goals, it’s still fun trying. I’m going for New Release Veteran once again. Last year I made it to 65 (my own count, I forgot to link up an entire quarter) *hangs head*. But I’m determined to do better this year.
Thanks for bringing readers together in a fun way once again! 🙂
Thanks Marsha. I agree, I love participating in different challenges as well. It’s totally OK to have forgotten to link up some reviews, too. I hope you’ll have fun for the 2022 challenge as well.
Happy New Year 🙂

Happily signing up for a third year. Books are about the only things that make these horrible years tolerable, anyway.
You are so right, Maelia! Thank goodness we still have books, right? Good luck with the challenge this year, and I hope 2022 will be gentler with all of us.

i’d disagree, watching my kids reading books makes the year more tolerable XD …

i won’t be participating but definitely try my best to reach my personal goal
This is my first time signing up! Thanks for hosting!!!!
Welcome, Melissa 🙂 I hope you’ll enjoy it – and also that you’ll have some new releases that I hadn’t heard of yet so I can add those to my shelves, too 🙂 Good luck.
I just signed up again. Looking forward to the fun and the reading of all the planned new releases. Have a great week, Lexxie & Brandee!
That’s great news, Vi. I hope you’ll have fun with it again.
