Review: Last Kiss Goodnight – Gena Showalter

Review: Last Kiss Goodnight – Gena Showalter

Last Kiss Goodnight is very melancholy in some ways, and it also truly angered me in other ways! Well written, with multi-faceted characters and an overall plot that was masterfully executed. I’m not sure why I haven’t read Last Kiss Goodnight until now – it’s been on my kindle more or less since it was released, and I was a huge fan of the Alien Huntress series, and I knew that this is a sort of spin-off series set in the same universe with some characters showing up. And wow, I was completely transported to another place, where aliens and humans live together, but not necessarily in harmony. I was both elated by the romance and the pure heart some […]

Up Close and (un)Conventional – Romance Heroes… or not?

Up Close and (un)Conventional – Romance Heroes… or not?

Up Close and (un)Conventional Romance Heroes Welcome to this week’s Up Close and (un)Conventional. This is where I discuss both things that have to do with reading and blogging, and things that just have to do with life in general. This week, I’m thinking about romance heroes. Or the romance anti-hero. Or the incredibly alpha-hero that I love reading about, and that I cheer on when it comes to the heroine, but that I wouldn’t want in my life in the real world. I’m sure you’ve met him (or them, as the case may be) as well, no? If you read romances, it’s almost impossible to not have met an alpha hero who is the take-charge kind of guy. The […]

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #92 – Trust

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #92 – Trust

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #92 Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post. The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well […]

Review: Wicked Ride – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Wicked Ride – Sawyer Bennett

Wicked Ride has the hotness the other Wicked Horse stories are built on, there is also some suspense, and of course, the Silo. As seen in the summary, Logan, one of the fantasy-makers at the Silo has a very strong longing when it comes to Auralie, the young woman whose virginity is for sale. Wicked Ride centers about the forbidden relationship between the two of them – stolen moments, heated exchanges only with looks across a crowded room. That part worked very well for me – however, I thought there were several things going on that could only happen because some of the characters really behaved out of character. Like, Auralie arrives at the club with Magnus, an older man, […]

Thankful Tuesday #2 – Authors I am Thankful For

Thankful Tuesday #2 – Authors I am Thankful For

Authors I am Thankful For – Thankful Tuesday November is the month of US Thanksgiving, and I felt the need to share some of the bookish people / things I am thankful for. Today, I am sharing some of the authors I am thankful for, and why I am thankful for them. I don’t even know where to start with this one, because how can I not be thankful to all authors who managed to bee strong enough, motivated enough, and organized enough to actually write a whole book and publish it? I will share some authors who have somehow gotten to have a special place in my reader heart, no matter why that is… I am extremely thankful for Tiffany […]

Review: Blood Red Kiss – Larissa Ione, Kresley Cole & Gena Showalter

Review: Blood Red Kiss – Larissa Ione, Kresley Cole & Gena Showalter

Blood Red Kiss gives readers glimpses into three super-series by three rockstar authors in the paranormal romance universe, and I utterly enjoyed myself reading these! I had already red The Warlord Wants Forever – the first story in Blood Red Kiss. Years ago, when I first got back to reading, and I think it was one of my very first paranormal romance reads. I enjoyed it back then, but I didn’t love it. Now, though, I did love it, and that may be partly because Immortals After Dark is one of my favorite series now. It’s a great introduction to the series, and I especially think that the Book of Lore at the beginning is a very nice touch. I […]

#COYER Blackout Challenge Sign-Up

#COYER Blackout Challenge Sign-Up

You know what time it is? It’s COYER time (think it’s hammer time with me… hehe) And for this time, we’re not only going back to basics, we’re going rustic. And I, for one, love it. I’m really happy about the very strict rules well have for COYER for the Winter 2016-17 challenge. What are all these new rules, you ask? Well, here you go: This time COYER is going to be a 12 week Blackout, where you have to dedicate yourself to reading the books YOU ALREADY  have acquired for less than $1.00. That’s right,  you have between now and the start of COYER, December 17th, to acquire the books you’ll be reading during COYER. And they must be […]

Up Close and (un)Conventional Features and Discussions

Up Close and (un)Conventional Features and Discussions

Up Close and (un)Conventional  – Features and Discussions Welcome to this week’s Up Close and (un)Conventional. This is where I discuss both things that have to do with reading and blogging, and things that just have to do with life in general. This week, I’m wondering about features and discussions, as well as other posts. See, I usually have a single post every day, because I think it’s easier for those who visit my blog to find everything that way. However, recently, I’ve had an idea for a new feature. It could be monthly, bi-weekly or weekly. But if I do that, I’d have one day less to post reviews. And that’s kind of the main thing I do here […]
