Thankful Tuesday #2 – Authors I am Thankful For

Thankful Tuesday #2 – Authors I am Thankful For

Authors I am Thankful For – Thankful Tuesday November is the month of US Thanksgiving, and I felt the need to share some of the bookish people / things I am thankful for. Today, I am sharing some of the authors I am thankful for, and why I am thankful for them. I don’t even know where to start with this one, because how can I not be thankful to all authors who managed to bee strong enough, motivated enough, and organized enough to actually write a whole book and publish it? I will share some authors who have somehow gotten to have a special place in my reader heart, no matter why that is… I am extremely thankful for Tiffany […]

Thankful Tuesday #1 – Bloggers I Am Thankful for

Bloggers I am Thankful For November is the month of US Thanksgiving, and I felt the need to share some of the bookish people / things I am thankful for. Today, I am sharing some of the bloggers I am thankful for, and why I am thankful for them. My blogger-wife, Brandee @ Bookworm Brandee is definitely a blogger I am thankful for! I love her! We ‘met’ during the Armchair BEA in 2013, and hit it off. Since then, we have met in real life twice, and are looking forward to hanging out together in Atlanta for RT in May next year as well. We share a love for books, even the same kinds of books, usually, we have […]

A to Z Bookish Blogger Tag

A to Z Bookish Blogger Tag

I found the A to Z Book Blogger Tag on Jamie @ Perpetual Page Turner – it’s a post from 2013, but it’s still accurate for me! Author you’ve read the most books from: Agatha Christie! I have read 57 novels by her, most of them during a summer I spent with an aunt at her cabin, on a small island in a fjord in Norway. And she brought boxes of books with her for me to read on the beach. Best sequel ever: Magic Binds (Kate Daniels #9) by Ilona Andrews!! Currently reading: Archangel’s Heart by Nalini Singh Drink choice when reading: That really depends where I am, and what time of the day it is. During the day, […]

My Fave Books Read in 2016 (so far)

My Fave Books Read in 2016 (so far)

So far in 2016, I have read 95 books, and I’ve read several that were really good! Since it’s summer, and I’m feeling a bit lazy, I thought a post that’s strictly about good books without being a review could be the thing for today. My Fave Books Read in 2016 Not all of those books that have reached my favorite shelf in 2016 are released this year. However, because this is the year I read them, that’s the year they’re my faves. Here they are – in the order I read them:       Fighting Dirty by Lori Foster is the last in her delicious Ultimate series, and it hit all possible sweet spots for me! Armie’s story […]

Outlander – Same Story, Different Media: The TV Show

Outlander – Same Story, Different Media: The TV Show

This is the fourth and last post of my Outlander series, and how I was able to use one of my favorite series for one of my MA classes at University. It was a great class, and it was such a pleasure to be able to look at something I had read for myself with a more academic outlook. Today, I am using a small clip from the Starz hit TV Show, in order to have the same scene as I used for my analysis of the novel and the graphic novel. Outlander The TV Show Because the Outlander novels have become, so far, an eight novel saga, it seems that the choice to transform Claire and Jamie’s story into […]

Outlander – Same Story, Different Media: The Graphic Novel

Outlander – Same Story, Different Media: The Graphic Novel

This is the third post in my Outlander for my MA class series, and today, I’m discussing the same scene I discussed last week in my post about the novel. In the graphic novel, things are a bit different, of course, since there are drawings of the characters setting the mood, and less text than in the novel. Outlander: The Graphic Novel In the graphic novel, named The Exile: An Outlander Graphic Novel, and which is Jamie’s story more than it is Claire’s, the scene in which Claire takes control of the situation in order to help set Jamie’s shoulder is present as well. It is very interesting to see this scene included, especially because the point of view has […]

Outlander – Same Story, Different Media: The Novel

Outlander – Same Story, Different Media: The Novel

If you saw my post with the introduction about my MA paper on Outlander last Friday, you already know how I came to use Outlander for academic purposes, and how happy I was to be able to do that. Today, I’m talking about the novel, and a specific scene that happened in both the novel, the TV show and the graphic novel. One of the aspects of the novel, the graphic novel, and the TV show that caught my attention is that the main characters behave the same way across all three media. This shows that at least part of the story remains the same, even if it is told differently. Claire is assertive and strong, with little thought to […]

Outlander – Same Story, Different Media: Introduction

Outlander – Same Story, Different Media: Introduction

I used Outlander for one of my MA classes called Romance and its Remediation. We looked at romance tropes in medieval romances, and how they have been remediated in several more contemporary novels, graphic novels, TV series, movies and even video games. Of course, because I’m such a huge fan of the Outlander series, I wanted to use it for academic reasons, and I really enjoyed working on this. Today, I give you my introduction, and for the next few Fridays, I will also discuss the novel, the graphic novel and the TV show. Outlander: Same Story – Different Media? The first novel in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander saga was published in 1991, and the story of Claire Randall Beauchamp and […]

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays When this Happy Holidays post goes live, I’m in Norway, with my husband and kids, staying with my mom and her husband, and also spending time with my sister, her husband, as well as my two nieces and nephews. Christmas Eve is the day we celebrate Christmas in Norway, we eat an early dinner – which is probably equal in size to an American Thanksgiving dinner. There will be a lot of delicious food, drinks, dessert and so on. Then, we’ll get on with presents. We are staying in Norway until the 27th of December, and I will probably be completely offline during the holiday. When we get back to Geneva on Sunday, we will be just the […]
