Weekend Wrap-up #288 – Back to Reality (Vacay is over)

Posted 24 August, 2019 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Memes, Wrap-up Posts / 29 Comments

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookworms and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS #288

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

The Sunday Post #228 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

I haven’t posted a wrap-up post in a while, so quite a lot has been going on… You all probably know I went to BookBonanza in Dallas at the beginning of August. And it was a blast! I got to hang out with some of my favorite bloggers, and I was able to meet all the authors I wanted to meet – and get all my books signed by them 😀 I had such a good time! Of course, I did come home with 106 new books… so my shelves have changed a little bit after some reorganizing.

A week ago, child #3 (boy) left Switzerland for a full year of school in Norway. Even with three other kids at home, it feels weird, our dynamics are out of whack, that’s for sure.

On Thursday of this week, I started work again, planning sessions and meetings before students arrive at school on Monday. It’s going to be a very busy year, as I’ll be teaching almost full time, but I’ll also have my Uni classes so please bear with me. Thank goodness for Brandee! But I really need to make sure I do more posts here, too. We can’t let the blog go to waste, now, can we?

This Week’s Puppies in Action:

This is rather puppies in inaction, right?

Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!

  1. 106 books! Woot- what a haul haha! Glad Book Bonanza was awesome. And good luck to your son in Norway!

Hope you have a nice weekend!

Glad you had a fun trip! I still waiting for fall announcements to see if I will be making a trip somewhere or not! It’s agonizing waiting! I’ve looked at a few but when I only see less than 5 authors (ones I’ve met at least once too) I can’t justify the cost and time of the trip. Hoping there will be some announcements made soon about two fall events I previously attended, but alas, they are waiting a long while to make their reveal! Lol. I hope your school year goes well too!

Nice new reads too! Those are totally new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • My trip was awesome! It’s hard waiting for announcements, but sometimes, it’s better to wait until later, too, as some authors cancel.I hope you’ll be able to go to some bookish events you enjoy!
Have a wonderful week ahead, Jessica!

  3. Wow! ((HUGS)) It must be hard saying goodbye to your son for a year. And, whoa! 106 books! That’s an impressive haul. Good luck with the new school year. I hope it is a great success! I am curious about the new Bennett book. It’s not really the type of book I read, but I love Bennett.

    • Yeah, it was really weird to say goodbye, but it’s not really for the full year. He’s staying with my mom, and he’ll be coming home for Christmas.
Yeah, I went a little purchase happy for BookBonanza – I got them all signed, too – which was great 🙂
I love Bennett’s romantic suspense novels – she is one of my favorites, and she’s pretty volatile too.

I understand what you mean about the dynamics being off with one kid away. It’s hard to let them go for sure. 106 books is one amazing haul. The trip sounds like so much fun! Enjoy your week ahead!

Yay! Glad you had a good time at Book Bonanza. I saw some of the pics from that and it looked like a lot of smiling faces. Stupendous book haul! That ought to keep you busy reading and your shelves full.
Wishing Son #3 a great year away and hopefully, it will settle a bit for his family at home, too.
Whew! You will be busy this school year.
    Someone looks tired. 🙂
    Have a good week, Lexxie!

  6. Wow – 106 books… that should set you up for a while. You certainly have a busy year ahead of you – all the very best. I hope you have good students!

  7. 106 books! Holy moly! Did you bring them in your luggage?
I’m glad you had such a good time though!
Good luck with the new school year. It sounds like you will be super busy but no doubt you will be amazing at it! 🙂

    • You really do need to start reading Sawyer Bennett’s books, Gen, I’m sure you’ll love them 🙂
And yeah, 106 books, that I bought for BookBonanza. I had read several of them on my kindle, but just felt like I needed to have the physical books – signed – on my shelves 😀

  8. It must have been expensive to bring back 106 books!! Good luck with teaching and taking classes-I remember those days and how exhausted I was! One of my dear coworkers is working full time, just had twins, and is taking classes for her doctorate! I don’t know how she survives!

    • yeah… I went a tiny bit overboard. When I can get paperbacks signed, I just can’t resist. I have found room for all of them, but I really need to lay off the physical books now. And I’m going to do my very best!
      thanks for stopping by, Tracy!

  9. Wow! I am glad you had a good August and so happy to be at Book Bonanza with you. The time went too quickly. I got just 5 books. I bought one. Well and the digital Bookworm Box to try. I like the routine we are setting up for autumn but it sure is busy. Good luck with all your classes! You got a good looking book haul – I hope you can get them read.

  10. My #2 of 4 left yesterday for a week long school trip, and I already feel like I’ve forgotten something.

I envy you your trip , that haul and that you have enough room on your bookshelves to add them 🙂

Wishing you a great reading week

Wow, 106 books where did you ever find space for them all with your other books. 🙂 Sounds like you are going to get pretty busy so good luck with that! 🙂

Have a great week and happy reading!

  12. The bonanza sounds awesome! I’d love to make an event some day. Looks like the pups still think it’s the dog days of summer. LOL
