★★★★★ Review: A Queen of Thieves & Chaos – K.A. Tucker

★★★★★ Review: A Queen of Thieves & Chaos – K.A. Tucker

A Queen of Thieves and Chaos is fast-paced with many loose threads followed up on through the eyes of various characters. I loved how vivid the imagery was in A Queen of Thieves and Chaos, because I truly felt like I was running next to the characters, or hiding with them, or just generally being in their vicinity. The colors, the textures, the feelings – I felt it all, which made me enjoy myself that much more while reading this story. Tucker has built an incredible world with the Fate & Fire series, and this is something I think was particularly well done in A Queen of Thieves and Chaos, because it was easy to get into this new installment, […]

Review: Be the Girl – K.A. Tucker

Review: Be the Girl – K.A. Tucker

I knew Be the Girl would break my heart! Bullying is such an ugly word. And now – with all kinds of social media, those who are bullied must feel like it never stops. Be the Girl is such an important story! And I have to say, Tucker managed to tell it with so much tenderness and tact, it was beautiful  – even when it was ugly! Aria moved across Canada with her mother to live with her great-uncle. And it was clear from the beginning of the story that there was trouble in her past. Big trouble. Coupled with a father who had a second family – and who left Aria and her mother behind without a backwards glance. […]

Review: Wicked Knight – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Wicked Knight – Sawyer Bennett

Wicked Knight is the fifth book in the Wicked Horse Vegas series, and this series is still going strong. More than erotic romance, it is about dealing with the aftermath of a tough divorce as well. And also trusting another man to do right, when the one who was supposed to be everything only thought of himself. Story: I really enjoyed Wicked Knight, it was definitely hot, and had a little Cinderella / Pretty Woman feel to it. Mostly because Hannah was ready to do whatever it took to make sure her daughter would be with her, and that she would be safe being there. In the beginning, I didn’t really enjoy Asher all that much, but that changed quickly. […]

Review: The Accidentals – Sarina Bowen

Review: The Accidentals – Sarina Bowen

The Accidentals had everything I love in a romance. There was heartache, there was happiness, there were awkward reunions, and sharp humor. Plus, there was a whole lot of music! Story: The Accidentals is a masterpiece of feelings. It was also a different kind of romance, because the main story wasn’t about the romance – it was about family and loss. And it was also about finding what had seemed lost forever. Plus, the music made me swoon… Because music was a very important part of The Accidentals, and it added more layers to both the characters and the story itself. Rachel had been to hell and back, and living in a group home was not her idea of being […]

Review: Face Off – Brenda Novak

Review: Face Off – Brenda Novak

Face Off was a good story, but I have to admit I’m starting to think Evelyn will never ever find any peace. And it took quite a bit of suspension of disbelief to get that she could go through so much and still be sane. I really enjoy Evelyn and her thoughts on what makes a psychopath a dangerous person. However, in Face Off, I just started to feel a bit tired because Evelyn can never catch a break! She never had a moment of peace, between her one-time boyfriend from her youth, and Amarok’s ex who was trying to get to Amarok any way she could. The overall story in Face Off was very exciting, especially because I as […]

Release Day Chat Review ~ Children of the Forgotten Gods ~ Kennedy Daly #2018NewRelease #COYER

Release Day Chat Review ~ Children of the Forgotten Gods ~ Kennedy Daly #2018NewRelease #COYER

Thank you so much for turning me onto this book, wifey! It was a fantastic read! It was action-packed with a compelling story and engaging characters. Gah! I FLOVED it! What I need to know is: When is the next one coming?!? Okay, on to the chat… I was hooked from the beginning, and I know you were as well. What was it that drew you straight into this story? I think I was initially drawn in with the action…Daly had me curious from the get-go about Damien. But the characters are what, or rather who, really drew me in. I liked how close-knit they were and I was intrigued with their abilities, their dynamics, and their responsibilities to their […]

ARC Review: Bishop – Sawyer Bennett

ARC Review: Bishop – Sawyer Bennett

Bishop was amazing! I’m so happy Ms. Bennett is branching out with more hockey-players – and both Bishop and Brooke really did it for me. Story: There’s a little bit of suspense with Brooke’s friend Nanette, and a whole lot of awesome hockey-talk, relationships between the players, and within the organization at large. Of course, the whole hockey setting is partly what I loved about Bishop, however, the characters really did it for me as well! There’s a certain camaraderie among these players, who were let go by their team to start a new team in Arizona. Because Brooke wanted to make sure her father, the coach, wouldn’t be unfair to Bishop, she pretended they were engaged when her father […]

Review: Angry Annie – Dawn L. Chiletz

Review: Angry Annie – Dawn L. Chiletz

Angry Annie was a hoot! It kept me company on the plane back from Denver and BookBonanza, and I had so many laugh out loud moments. Story: Angry Annie was such a fun romantic comedy, and my first foray (but definitely NOT the last!) into Chiletz’s books. Joselyn had goals, but she had strange ways of going about achieving them. Trying to figure out who Annie was, and why her reviews were always so angry, became her new goal. She wanted to show the world what a sorry person Annie was – but things didn’t go as planned. As Angry Annie unfolded, Joselyn found herself actually liking the older woman. Even when Annie was difficult and short tempered, she told […]

COYER Mini-Challenge: Romantic Suspense Hello all 🙂 Welcome to our COYER Mini-Challenge for Romantic Suspense! Brandee @ Bookworm Brandee and I are so happy to have you 🙂 This mini-challenge is pretty straight forward – read three romantic suspense books this next week, one book that you’ve bought, one you’ve borrowed – either from the library or a friend, and one you’ve received for free – either a gift, or an ARC. We both love romantic suspense, because there is a little bit of angst to go with the romance, and sometimes, the suspense parts are so good we just can’t wait to flip to the next page. Plus, having romance in those books just makes everything a bit more […]

Review: Children of Blood and Bone – Tomi Adeyemi

Review: Children of Blood and Bone – Tomi Adeyemi

Children of Blood and Bone is a complex fantasy novel, in which one people fight their way to win magic back in order to stay alive. There is a corrupt and vicious king, a credulous young prince, a very strong young woman, and a lot of action. Story: Children of Blood and Bone managed to tell a compelling story, build a complex world, and include magic that was quite different from other stories I’ve read. There was a dictatorial king, and he would kill the smallest flutter of magic he could find – to keep his people safe, or so he said. Zélie was learning to fight, to survive, to keep the former magic users – dîviners – safe. And […]
