Review: Before I Let Go – Marieke Nijkamp

Review: Before I Let Go – Marieke Nijkamp

Before I Let Go is a very strange story – dealing with grief, a touch of something maybe paranormal, and friendship. Story: Corey is just getting ready to go back home, to her small town in Alaska to see her best friend. However, her friend isn’t around to be seen anymore. Kyra dies before Corey makes it back, and Before I Let Go shows all the different emotions Corey goes through. She feels a lot of guilt, because she hasn’t written to Kyra as often as she had said she would. She is also very sad. And a bit angry. And most of all, she just can’t understand how Kyra could have died that way. Once Corey arrives in Lost […]

Review: Shattered Fear – Tara Thomas

Review: Shattered Fear – Tara Thomas

Shattered Fear started out pretty strong, but as the story went on, I found Janie to be a rather weak female character. For a seasoned police officer, she acted more like a damsel in distress than someone who could take control and catch a killer. Story: The mystery is pretty strong in Shattered Fear, and I enjoyed how one character remained unknown until the end. Only alluded to as ‘The Gentleman’ the brain behind missing women and murdered dancers never showed his face. Not even to the readers. Apart from the mystery, though, I was left with wanting more. I wanted more character development. More interactions between the protagonists. More of the actual police work. Characters: Janie was working as […]

Review: Indecent Exposure – Tessa Bailey

Review: Indecent Exposure – Tessa Bailey

Indecent Exposure is a whirlwind romance between a broken Jack and a strong Katie. I loved how they both helped each other heal, and deal with life’s difficulties in a healthy way. Story: Indecent Exposure follows Jack, whom I met in Disorderly Conduct, and Katie. Their hot romance is so fast it swept me off my feet. I loved how they were so in tune to each other from when they first met. And how they both wanted to be more because of their meeting. Characters: Jack is a big flirt, drinking too much alcohol, and hiding a lot of hurt. Even his best friends don’t know everything about him. When his excessive drinking starts to truly hurt those he […]

Review: The Schemer – Avery Flynn

Review: The Schemer – Avery Flynn

The Schemer was a fun, hot read, where the main characters did everything they could not to fall in love with each other. Story: Both Tyler and Everly made me swoon! The Schemer – Tyler, thought he had everything he had ever dreamed of. Until Everly moved into the apartment above his. Stomping her high heals at all hours of the day and night, and generally pissing him off. Everly knew from the first time they met that Tyler was not the guy for her. Embarrassed of his humble upbringing, he didn’t even speak in his Waterbury accent anymore. And she was a proud Riverside woman. Never one to let her past bring her down! The Schemer happens just after […]

Audioreview: Hell’s Revenge – Eve Langlais

Audioreview: Hell’s Revenge – Eve Langlais

Hell’s Revenge is filled with a solid plot, mystery, suspense, some extreme hotness and lots of humor. Story: Hell’s Revenge is a risqué story, in which Muriel lives with her two consorts, David and Auric. And because of her sex-based powers, she has to make sure she gets enough sex. Which definitely brought out both a lot of steam, and some much needed   to help with all the break-neck speed action. Muriel finds out that she’s pregnant. Her up-until-now unknown mother shows up unexpectedly to share the news with her, Lucifer, and the two dads. Not only does she inform them all about the pregnancy, she also explains to them that she needs the baby once it’s born. Hell’s Revenge […]

Review: Final Siege – Scarlett Cole

Review: Final Siege – Scarlett Cole

Final Siege had everything I love in a romantic suspense! There was, indeed a lot of suspense, a bit of anguish, some romance, and a lot of past hurt to resolve. Story: Final Siege was such a great story – Cole is quickly becoming one of my go-to authors for romantic suspense. Delaney was alluded to in Under Fire, and getting to meet her was such a treat! Especially because she was not in a good situation when Mac finally caught up to her after years of them not seeing each other. One of the things I loved the most in Final Siege was the unresolved feelings and relationship between Mac and Delaney. Especially because they could have cleared everything […]

Review: The Charmer – Avery Flynn

Review: The Charmer – Avery Flynn

The Charmer was both charming, hot and sweet! I loved Hudson and Felicia – even as they were both trying to deny their feelings for the other. Story: The Charmer shows a different aspect of Hudson – he was the aloof brother in The Negotiator, but here, he was quite intense. Especially when he tried not to be. When he first met Felicia, there were sparks. But Hudson tried to deny those sparks. Especially as he realized that Felicia had a thing for Tyler, his brother’s former best friend. And so, the scheming began. Hudson proposed to help Felicia land Tyler, and that sure made for some very humorous moments. The Charmer was full of hot sparks, and the chemistry […]

Review: About That Kiss – Jill Shalvis

Review: About That Kiss – Jill Shalvis

About That Kiss brought out the feels. You know how it is when you pick up a book, and it feels like you’re hanging out with your best friends? Living through their struggles and their good times right there with them? Shalvis does that to me. With every book she writes – no matter if there are characters I’ve already met or if they are completely new to me. Story: About That Kiss has a very slow-burning romance, all the friendships, and a very good mystery. I loved getting to know Joe Malone better, and Kylie was the perfect match for him. With her unconventional profession as a wood worker, she managed to see through his tough exterior and find […]

Review: Wicked Choice – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Wicked Choice – Sawyer Bennett

Wicked Choice is much more than an erotic romance, there are some important choices the characters have to make. And there is an important theme about how women are often judged much more harshly than men for their choices. Story: Wicked Choice does partly evolve inside the Wicked Horse, but it’s not the most important place or theme of the story. Rachel’s unplanned pregnancy, and the fears she feels about that is the focal point of the story, and I found the way this unfolded to be very realistic. Not all women can imagine being a mother, and that is all fine and good. Rachel kind of did want to be a mother, though, but she was afraid of all […]

Review: End Game – Lisa Renee Jones

Review: End Game – Lisa Renee Jones

End Game brought a lot of pain to some of the characters, with the aftermath of the incredible cliffhanger in Bad Deeds… I loved the character growth in End Game, the depth this brought to various relationships, and the tension that was so thick it could be cut with a butcher knife. The suspense was breath-taking, and I had trouble sitting still while reading. The emotional pain the characters felt was tangible, and I had no idea how they would get through the incredibly difficult time they were facing. End Game took care of many loose ends, but not all. And there might be a story about one of the side characters from Dirty Money in the future. I, for […]
