Weekend Wrap-up #266 – an Eventful and Good Week!

Posted 16 February, 2019 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Memes, Wrap-up Posts / 51 Comments

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookworms and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS #266

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

The Takeover Effect Cover - (un)Conventional Bookworms - Weekend Wrap-up

I just had to request this book, because Nick @ The Infinite Limits of Love raved about it on Twitter last week. And I was very happy I got accepted! Thank you Edelweiss and Harper Collins 🙂

In to Her cover - (un)Conventional Bookworms - Weekend Wrap-up

Thank you, J.A. Huss. I can’t wait to read this. Holy hotness it looks scorching!

Hidden Powers cover - (un)Conventional Bookworms - Weekend Wrap-up

Thank you, Dreamspinner Press and Enchantress of Books Promo. This will be a buddy read with Brandee for sure 🙂

Nevermore cover - (un)Conventional Bookworms - Weekend Wrap-up

I’m not sure how I missed this when it released, but I did! I love Dannika Dark, and the Crossbreed series is so good!

The Sunday Post #206 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

I got my exam results for my two exams – and I got an A for both! I am so very happy about that, because I was really nervous. Between working and going to Uni, and trying to be the best teacher I can be, but also have time for my family and reading and blogging – I’ve been really busy since September last year. It felt really good to see that I still have what it takes 🙂

Also, the director of my school came to find me in the teacher’s lounge on Thursday to tell me that she really wanted me to keep working there! (I have to work six hours per week in a middle school as part of my uni courses) and that just made my whole week! I would love to stay there even when I finish my Master’s in Secondary Teaching – because I love it there. It was nice to know that I am appreciated.

This next week is the winter break here in Geneva, and I’m going to Norway with my youngest to visit family. And I have absolutely no work to bring with me – I can’t wait!

Hercules is sorry – because I had to chase him to get some of my swag back :O

Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight has a very comprehensive post about How to Find Upcoming Book Releases.

Grace @ Rebelmommy BookBlog has a great post about How she met her best friend 🙂

Lauren @ Northern Plunder has a guest post in Defense of Trashy Romance.

Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction has a discussion post about how Swag isn’t her thing… and a giveaway.

Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!

Yay for high grades, Lexxie. Considering how busy your life is- amazing A’s. 🙂 And, great news about being asked to stay on at the school to keep teaching along with a fun trip to family.
I recently caught Lorna’s review of the new Dannika Dark and she loved it.
Ha! Hercules getting into your swag. He doesn’t look sorry. 😉

Have a wonderful weekend and trip, Lexxie!

    • Yeah, I’m very, very pleased, Sophia!
I love everything Dannika Dark has written, and I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy this newest one as well 🙂 I’m glad Lorna loved it!
Hercules is never sorry when he does things he’s not supposed to do 😮

Congrats on your tests!! I remembered you were nervous and it’s great that you got the scores you wanted! That’s just awesome! Ooh Norway! That sounds fun! Of course, since I’ve never really been anywhere international besides one trip my senior year in high school, every trip sounds exotic and fun! Hope you have a blast and enjoy the workfree break!

Nice new reads too! Totally new to me ones but I hope you will enjoy them all!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • I was very nervous, which is sometimes a good thing, as it makes me work harder 😀 It’s also exhausting, though, so I’m happy that part is behind me before we start the new semester on the 25th.
I’m sure Norway will be awesome! I can’t wait to spend a whole week with my family and not having to work.

  3. Tanya @ Rantings of a Reading Addict

Congratulations! That all certainly makes for a great week! I know you are going to love Nevermore. I can’t get enough Dannika Dark!

  4. That is awesome news about your grades and job! I hope you enjoy your trip to Norway. I have never been there but I have been to Denmark. It was beautiful. My dogs like to chase squirrels and rabbits too. They have yet to catch one. I try to let the squirrel get a head start before I let them out in the backyard to scare them off. Have a good week.

    • Yes, it was indeed great news 🙂
I am Norwegian, so I go to Norway at least a couple of times every year to see my mom and my sister and the rest of my family 🙂 I agree, Denmark is beautiful, too!
That pesky squirrel sometimes comes rather close to the windows when the dogs are inside – just to make them go crazy 😀

  5. Congrats on the A’s and the compliment of them wanting to keep you! That’s so awesome! 😉
I’ve been hearing some great things about Danikka Dark. I’ll have to check out her books!
Enjoy your trip to Norway and happy reading!

  6. I am just so happy you had good grades and they appreciate you at your school. But also excited for the week off. Enjoy yourself and have a nice break!

  7. Hey congrats on the A’s- and on the kudos from the school. That’s awesome news! You must be so excited. 🙂

Have a great trip! I’ve heard Nevermore is really good.

  8. So many things to celebrate. Lexxie. You’ve been so busy too. I’d take a page from both of the puo’s books. LOL They sure know how to chill out. I hope you enjoy your trip:)

Congratulations on your A’s. That’s got to be a good feeling! And you will love Nevermore I think even if it is a bit different. I just reviewed it this week on Delighted Reader. Always love seeing Freddy and Hercules! Great pictures as usual!

  10. Congrats on your exam scores! That is amazing. And of course your school wants to keep you-you rock! But it is nice to be appreciated and as a teacher, we aren’t always! Enjoy your break-I’m super jealous. I won’t get a break until the end of April for Easter break.

  11. That’s an awesome compliment to have gotten from the school!
I really need to read the Crossbreed series. It sounds so much fun! I even have book one on my kindle so I have no excuse not to start!

  12. Gayathri Lakshminarayanan

Yay, congrats on your great score. Your dogs make reading your post a delight. Have a great week ahead.

  13. You didn’t tell me about your director wanting you to stay on! That’s fantastic, wifey! I’m sure that along with your A’s, that was a good ego boost. 😉 You got some great looking books this past week. I’m envious of a few but happy we’re buddy reading Hidden Powers. 🙂 I hope you have a wonderful time in Norway!
    {{{big hugs}}}

  14. krazaykris

Wow. I think that’s great that they want to keep you on! That’s amazing news. Congratulations!

  15. Olivia-Savannah

Yay for the brilliant results to your exams! That is such good news. And it’s so nice that the director came and is able to appreciate the brilliant work you’re doing there. You’ve definitely earned that time off and I hope you have a great trip to Norway x
