The Sunday Post #67 – Weekly Wrap-up
Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
This week was much easier, as it wasn’t so hard for us to get up in the morning and be productive 🙂 I finished my last paper, hopefully, my professor will enjoy it. I’m pretty tired and busy, too, though, because tomorrow, I have a six hour written exam for one of my linguistics classes, and I have to go straight from my exam to work… but after this exam, things will be a lot calmer until my Uni classes start again in late February.
The weather was all over the place again, but a little milder than last week, so that’s nice. We had snow on the ground for three days before it melted.

Renee @ Lover of Romance has a great post about Shifter Romance and Her Top Reads.
Brandee @ Bookworm Brandee chats about massmarket paperbacks in Even if I Squint.
Silvia @ A Thing for Life discusses The Most Inspirational Female Manga Characters.
Ceilidhann @ Bibliodaze has a post about Defending the Indefensible. And her post made me return my Feverborn book for refund 🙁 Not spending my money on authors who blame the victim and want to lift up perpetrators.
Tara @ Librarian Who Doesn’t Say Shh! wonders How Much Would You Charge to Review Books Professionally?
What have you been up to this past week? Don’t forget to leave me a link so I can come visit your Sunday Post as well.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
Wow, a six hour exam. Boy, I don’t miss those days. I hope all goes great, Lexxie. It;s been hot then cold here this week. Got freezing this weekend but it should warm up on Monday. I NEED spring. LOL
Yeah, I can’t say I’m looking forward to six hours of thinking, reading and writing, but it has to be done! And I am definitely ready for it – but I sure wish it was already over.
We’ve had snow, rain, sun and cold this past week. Today, the sky is blue, and that just helps give me a much needed energy boost!
Snow here too, and cold! Ready for spring as well. 🙂 Good luck with the paper (and exam)!
Great post this week on parents in YA. I kind of agree that it would be nice sometimes to see involved parents, not to fix everything (kids don’t want to read that!) but maybe just to be realistic. I mean does everything have to be orphans/ missing parents/ whatever? I just read NEED by Joelle Charbonneau and the MC had an interesting relationship with her mom- the mom kinda irritated me because she kinda assumed the worst of her daughter (it’s a little more complicated than that, but basically) but she definitely cared. Not sure if that’s a great example though, I’d have to go back and reread those sections. 🙂
Anyway have a good week!
NEED is a good example of parents who are there, but who aren’t omnipresent nor omniscient when it comes to their children, Greg.
Thanks for the good luck wishes.
Oh, well done on that last paper Lexxie and best wishes for your exam. I hope you get some rest before Uni starts up again in a few weeks.
Hope you don’t get the blizzards the US have been experiencing!
Deb
Yeah, we have a week off in February before Uni starts again, and school is off too, so I plan on taking the two youngest kids and drive down to Spain for the week 🙂 Change of scenery and time off is going to be great!
A six hour written exam, yikes your poor hand will be in bits! And it sounds so long to have to concentrate in an exam scenario, do you get a break in the middle? Hope it goes ok and glad that things will calm down a little then as it sounds very intense.
I was working full time and studying too a few years ago and know just how draining it is. Make sure you get plenty of down time too as you need it.
Yeah, but part of the time for my exam will be spent reading. I’ll get an unknown linguistic article that discusses de Saussure’s linguistic theories, and then I’ll have to compare and contrast.
I will definitely do my best to get some down time after the exam, and I’m quite ready for it, too 🙂
Congrats on combining a job, uni and book reviewing! 🙂 AND you write so many reviews a week on top of that. Great job!
Thank you, Majanka 🙂 I am very happy I have my books and my blog so I can also do the stuff I love. Not that I don’t enjoy Uni and working, but a hobby is nice, too 😉
Congrats on finishing your last paper! That has to be a relief. Good luck with the exam, too. Hopefully once you get that out of the way, you can enjoy some books and rest up. 🙂
Have a great week!
Yes, and I’m really happy with that paper, too! I hope my professor will be as well 🙂
I need to get to bed early tonight, so that I can concentrate tomorrow 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Kim.
whoohooo on finishing that last paper! 🙂 finger crossed now. Six hour written exam??? UGH! I miss my college years but not the tests! Good luck tomorrow. There is snow everywhere here. This morning I woke up at 5:00 am and found a beautiful full moon over all the sea of white. So inspiring! (and this is coming from someone that hates winter LOL)
Yeah, that’s one of the things I’m not going to miss either, Daniela. Lots of fresh snow is beautiful, but really not all that practical. I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the beauty of it, though 🙂
A 6 hour test?!?! That shouldn’t even be legal…lol! I am sure that you will ace it but it does sound stressful. At least you will be getting a bit of break when it is over. This whole thing with KMM is just horrible. I loved the first 5 books in the fever series but think she took a wrong turn in Iced. Everything that has happened with Phil Gigante is horrible. There are so many wonderful books in the world. I don’t need to support authors who make these kind of decisions. Have a great week!
I’m not too stressed about it, really, and we’re allowed to leave if we finish before the allotted time.
I loved that series, too, but I’m not going to continue with it. I just found the way she was deleting comments showing the public arrest record to be of very bad taste, no matter if they are also good friends or not. She has apologized now, but I still have a bad taste in my mouth. And of course, you’re right about there being loads of other books for me to read.
Good luck tomorrow with your exam! And I hope the rest of the week is filled with great books to make up for it!
Thanks, Laura! I definitely have some great books lined up 🙂
Glad your paper is finished and the very best of luck with your exam! Sounds brutal!
Thanks, Christina. I think it’ll go well, I just have to get my sleep tonight.
CHEERS!!!! I’m so proud of you for taking a stand on KMM! I feel the same as you but that’s not my point, my point is that you DID something about it!!! WAY TO GO!!! I saw Melanie from Hot Listens & Rabid Reads argued with KMM on KMM’s Facebook page about the issue (before the comments went down) and I’m so stinkin’ proud of her, too!!!
Hang in there with the testing!!! Good luck tomorrow!!!! I’ll be thinkin’ of ya!!
Thanks, Kristin! I really couldn’t just let it go, I feel so bad for that young girl, and the way that whole thing went down was awful.
Thanks for thinking of me tomorrow 🙂 I think it will go well, but it’s still a long-ass exam.
What a busy week for you! Good luck on all your exams 🙂 Hopefully you can relax soon!
Thanks, Molly, I’ll be able to relax after the exam tomorrow, even if I’ll still have work 🙂
Good luck with your exam!
Thank you, Irena 🙂
I don’t miss exams at all, although I do look back with nostalgia upon my university days, especially graduate school. But, like you, I was also working during those graduate school years, and it was a challenge.
Enjoy your time off…and thanks for visiting my blog. I’m off to check out some of your links.
Ha! I’m quite sure I won’t miss the exams either, once I finish my degree. Working is actually nice, since that helps me to start doing what I want to use it for 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Laurel-Rain.
A six hour exam?! *thud* I’m sitting here wondering how I would sit through an exam that long and realized I sit for hours at my computer surfing the internet, working on my blog or reading, so…yeah. LOL Good luck! 🙂
haha! I’d much rather stay in front of my computer for six hours surfing the net than hand write my exam tomorrow… But it has to be done 🙂
I am glad to hear this week was a bit easier to get out of bed in the mornings :). Whew a six hours written exam? That sounds stressful and long. I think my longest exam I ever took were I sat the full time was 3 hours and that’s already long in my opinion.Good luck with your exam. Will have to check out some of the posts you linked to. Have a great week!
It’s definitely going to be long, hopefully, I’ll get a question that really motivates me to write a lot .)
Yikes! A six hour written exam. Good luck tomorrow! I could never get into the Fever books, but that’s still disappointing to hear how KMM is handling that whole situation.
I know quite a few people didn’t enjoy the Fever series, but I really did. It really saddened me that she deleted comments that pointed out the arrest of the narrator.
Oh your schedule makes me tired just reading it! I don’t miss exams at all! You have some really interesting links this week. I’m especially curious about the Fever series. I’ve heard some buzz but don’t know what’s going on. Off to check it out. Have a great week!
It kind of makes me a bit tired to think of it as well, but once my exam is out of the way, things will be better 🙂
Have a great week yourself, Katherine!
Wow a 6 hour exam! Good luck tomorrow! I really like your Thirsty Thursdays and Hungry Hearts meme and I’ll have to join in. Sometimes in books when they mention food I either start craving it or look it up on the internet.
It went well, Kathy, now I just have to wait a few weeks to get my resutl 🙂 I really hope you’ll join us on Thursdays, I love food (and drinks, too) so I really enjoy it when I find some good food or drink quotes in my books.
I don’t miss school at all when you talk about exams and papers 🙂 It sounds like you have had a very busy week! Hopefully this week will be a bit calmer for you. Have a great one and happy reading!
It’s definitely calmer this week, Samantha 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
That is a long exam, but it will be over soon and best of luck to you! That’s great you have a bit of a break from schoolwork after the exam though. Time to recuperate and all that. 🙂
-Lauren
I’m so happy it is behind me, now, Lauren! Now it’s just a waiting game until I get my results 🙂
Oh yuck, school lol. Thankfully that ship has long sailed for me, though I’m still paying on those pesky student loans, darn it! Have a great week!
That ship could have sailed long ago for me, too, Sara, but I am changing directions 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
A six hour written exam? Holy smacks! My state certification exams were five hours each on the computer, but that’s killer! Good luck with this semester and that upcoming exam!
Thanks, Charlie 🙂 It’s behind me now, and I’m quite happy with what I did 🙂
I can’t imagine a six hour exam. Not sure if I could remember all that needed remembering! Wishing you great success on it! Hope you get some reading time when it is done. I am looking forward to Back in Black, but need to read Fighting Dirty first.
There weren’t that many things to remember, it was more that we needed time to read and analyse an unknown article, and compare it to the theory we had studied during the semester 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
After that exam, you deserve some quality reading time! Have a great week. 🙂
Yes, I do deserve some quality reading time, Diana! 🙂
Good luck on your exam! Six hours! I cannot even imagine. Thanks for sharing the links. It’s always interesting to see what is going on around the web. I miss so much. The Defending the Indefensible particularly caught my eye.
I hope you have a great week!
I think my exam went well, but I’m really happy it’s behind me now. Thanks for stopping by!
Congrats on finishing the paper, Lexxie, and good luck on your exam tomorrow! I’m sure you’ll do very well! I’ll be happy for things to calm down a bit for you. It’s been pretty busy around here as well. And now I’m going to have to go read the post about Feverborn…I’m worried. :/
**BIG HUGS**
Sorry I worried you, Brandee, but I had to share! I’m happy things are a bit calmer now, too 🙂 I hope we’ll be able to find each other online today!
Congrats on finishing your paper and good luck on your exam!! I hope you have a fantastic week!!
Thanks, Tracy!
Woohoo! I bet that felt great to be finished with your last paper. I’m sure your professor will like it. If not, I’ll fly over and have a little chat with him *cracks knuckles*. lol. Have a great week Lexxie.
LOL I hope he’ll like it, too 🙂 And I’m glad you have my back, Christy!
Fingers crossed for you papers and positive vibes sent your way for that loooong exam, especially if you’re going to work right after that. I really don’t miss exams, though I don’t think I’ve ever had one that long ! We had an affair several years ago in France, when the lead singer of the rock band Noir Dèsir accidentally (?) killed a famous actress that I loved too. They were one of my favorite bands, but how could I listen to those songs I adored afterward knowing what happened ? Yet I still love those songs. You were absolutely right to act like you did about KMM, kudos ! Bon courage, mon amie, tu dois être en train de bosser en ce moment, je pense bien à toi 🙂
I don’t think I’m going to miss exams once I finally get my MA, Iza.
Yes, I’ve heard of the Noir Dèsir debacle, and I know exactly what you mean. That was so bad.
Thanks for stopping by, Iza 🙂
oh good luck on your six hour exam…that sounds daunting!! Thank you so much for mentioning my discussion post….I feel so honored. 🙂 Hope you have a good week and the weather turns a bit warmer for you.
My exam is over, and I think it went well 🙂 Of course I linked to your discussion post – it’s a good one, Renee! Thanks for stopping by.

I’ve been in the thick of the PG and KMM crap. I’m trying to step away from it this week. It is still an issues, but I need to get back to my life. All evidence of him has been removed from our blog. I’m hoping for a less chaotic week this week. Good luck on your exam and week ahead.
Yeah, I know, I saw that play out, Melanie, and I’m very proud to call you my friend! I’m not going to search for anything more on the subject, but I felt that I should mention it anyway, because all that shit is not OK!
Thanks for stopping by.
Thank you for bringing attention to the entire Phil Gigante thing – I have heard about the series, but I never owned it, and now, I never will.
Congrats on the last paper! Confetti all around!!
Yeah, I was shaking my head, and felt very sad for the state of humanity when that all played out, Lyn.
Thanks for stopping by!
Good luck with your paper! I’m glad you get a little bit of a breather. Our weather here has been all over the place too. Just this week, it’s been sunshiney and rainy, 21F and 71F.
Isn’t it weird how the weather is all over the place? Now, it’s back to fairly mild here, even if we get freezing temperatures at night.
GLad to hear you made it throught your papers and exams. You deserve a well earned break. How about buying yourself a good book or two?
I have indeed treated myself to a few good books, Heidi 🙂 Thanks for stopping by.
You are such a busy lady, I think you need to take a holiday soon and read lots of books, you deserve it!

I am sorry I am so far behind in commenting. I hope that exam went well. The only time I remember taking a 6 hour test was the test to qualify to get into college. You deserve some rest after that! Have a good week 🙂
