Waiting on Wednesday #79
Today, I’m waiting on The Girl From Everywhere by Heidi Heilig. Scheduled for release on February 16th, 2016 by Greenwillow Books.
Heidi Heilig’s debut teen fantasy sweeps from modern-day New York City to nineteenth-century Hawaii to places of myth and legend. Sixteen-year-old Nix has sailed across the globe and through centuries aboard her time-traveling father’s ship. But when he gambles with her very existence, it all may be about to end. The Girl from Everywhere, the first of two books, will dazzle readers of Sabaa Tahir, Rae Carson, and Rachel Hartman.
Nix’s life began in Honolulu in 1868. Since then she has traveled to mythic Scandinavia, a land from the tales of One Thousand and One Nights, modern-day New York City, and many more places both real and imagined. As long as he has a map, Nix’s father can sail his ship, The Temptation, to any place, any time. But now he’s uncovered the one map he’s always sought—1868 Honolulu, before Nix’s mother died in childbirth. Nix’s life—her entire existence—is at stake. No one knows what will happen if her father changes the past. It could erase Nix’s future, her dreams, her adventures . . . her connection with the charming Persian thief, Kash, who’s been part of their crew for two years. If Nix helps her father reunite with the love of his life, it will cost her her own.
In The Girl from Everywhere, Heidi Heilig blends fantasy, history, and a modern sensibility with witty, fast-paced dialogue, breathless adventure, and enchanting romance.

Great pick! I can’t wait to read this one as well.
I love time travel, and there seems to be quite a bit of intrigue as well.
OOh nice! Seeing a lot of this one lately! I’m intrigued by it myself! Waiting for more reviews to trickle in before deciding though! So many “ship in a bottle” covers this year too! So weird how that happened! LOL! Hope you love it!

Yeah, it seems like there are some trends when it comes to covers 🙂
This one sounds really interesting, Lexxie! First of all, I can’t imagine all that time travel. But I really can’t imagine possibly giving up your daughter’s life to have something *you* want. I’ll be interested to see what you think!
Hope you’re having a wonderful Wednesday, my friend! **BIG HUGS**
No, I could never put my own wants before my children’s lives, Brandee, that’s for sure! But I am still very attracted to this story 🙂 Time travel is time travel 😉

Great choice! I noticed this book! Sounds so interesting! 🙂
I agree, Irena 🙂
This one looks good. I will have to look for reviews and maybe add it to my TBR. Thanks for sharing!
Sometimes, just a summary will make me salivate, Carole, but later on, when the book is released, I may not remember why I wanted the book, and so I go in almost blind 🙂
Whoa! This book sounds pretty epic. And I loooove the cover! 😀
I agree, it does sound really good! And all that travel, both physical and through time *sighs*

I can’t wait to read The Girl from Everywhere, too! It sounds so amazing, and I really hope it lives up to the synopsis. I love time travel book when they’re done well, and I’m super excited to read it. (I am trying to keep my expectations in check, though, just in case!) Hope you love it when you read it, Lexxie, great pick!
Yes, that’s true. It does have to live up to the synopsis 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Alma.
Another new one for me, but it sounds very exciting…and intense. Thanks for sharing, and here’s mine: “THE OBSESSION”

It sounds very interesting. I will be interested in reading your thoughts. It reminds me of another one I have read reviews about-time travel with a ship inside a bottle. I hope you love it!
I am going to sound like a Debbie Downer but I did not like this book at all. On the positive side, many have enjoyed it. So, maybe ignore me? I hope you enjoy this book when you read it, Lexxie!
Have a fabulous week. 🙂
