Review: Burn for Me – Ilona Andrews

Review: Burn for Me – Ilona Andrews

Oh my goodness! Rogan and Nevada are both characters I became slightly obsessed with at the beginning of Burn for Me, and now, I just know that I have to figure out what is up next. Ilona Andrews did it again – a complete winner! There is something special with stories including magic. When those stories are written by Ilona Andrews, there is even more that is special about them! Burn for Me is a prime example of their excellent writing, world building, character development, story arc, plot and general awesomeness. I don’t really know what more to say than that – it was as close to perfection as the written word can possibly be. Rogan and Nevada are very […]

Review: Lethal Lies – Rebecca Zanetti

Review: Lethal Lies – Rebecca Zanetti

Lethal Lies is fast paced, filled with danger and delicious romance, even with a serial killer on the loose who will stop at nothing. Lethal Lies is filled with action, romance, secrets, and lies. It’s a fast-paced adventure with ties to both the past and the future. I somehow read this before the first book in the series, but I still loved the story, the characters and the plot – that’s testament to how good it was. Zanetti’s world is a dangerous place, where the mysteries of the past try to catch up with the blood brothers in the present. I love this whole universe, because Zanetti always manages to keep the world building on point, and the characters that […]

Review: Now I Rise – Kiersten White

Review: Now I Rise – Kiersten White

Now I Rise took me on a fantastic trip through history and various countries, following Lada in her quest for power – on her own. Now I Rise is one of my favorite 2017 releases! There, now that’s out of the way, you have been warned that this review might not be as coherent as it could be, because I’m so happy about this book I just want to say : “Run and buy it! Then shut yourself in somewhere to read it!” That’s how good it is! Lada has grown up quite a bit, but now, she’s without Radu and Mehmed, and while she definitely wanted to have allies, they were not the best choice for her to win […]

Review: Sisters of Blood and Spirit – Kady Cross

Review: Sisters of Blood and Spirit – Kady Cross

Sisters of Blood and Spirit was both creepy at times and a bit sad, but more than that, it was a story about loyalty between sisters, no matter that one was dead and the other alive. And I’m kicking myself for not starting this book earlier There was a lot of action packed into the pages of Sisters of Blood and Spirit, and it was really good, too. Lark has a strong bond to her still-born sister, Wren, who lives as much in the real world as in the shadowlands. So much so that she was sent to a mental hospital for hearing voices – when all that happened was that she answered out loud when her sister was talking to […]

Review: Spectacle – Rachel Vincent

Review: Spectacle – Rachel Vincent

Spectacle was a dark, yet beautiful story. Where the cryptids were taken from relative freedom to a prison more horrible than even their worst nightmares could conjure. Spectacle was even darker than Menagerie, because Delilah and her companions had managed to live for a while in relative freedom only to be caught by someone far worse than Metzger. At first, Gallagher is taken to a human prison, but this only makes Delilah’s anxiety worse, as she hasn’t had any news from him since she and some of the other female cryptids from the menagerie were taken to their new dormitory. I felt every anxious and fearful feeling Delilah and the others felt, and I have to admit that during Spectacle, my […]

Audio Review: Starflight – Melissa Landers

Audio Review: Starflight – Melissa Landers

Starflight was a fast-paced and action filled space adventure with great characters and a fantastic storyline! Starflight was such an exciting, fast-paced space adventure I’m kicking myself for not listening to it sooner! The characters were all complex, and the overall storyline amazing. Fights, more than one climax, plus all the feels – I just fell completely for this one. The complexity of the storyline and the well fleshed out characters were the main reason I loved the story. I was amazed at how one of the characters started out as an antagonist – whom I detested! – and then, little by little, the character changed and became one of the protagonists and I cheered them on. The action is […]

Review: Legion – Julie Kagawa

Review: Legion – Julie Kagawa

Legion brought my favorite dragons and their struggles to a complete new level of epicness! The action and the final fight at the end gave me heart palpitations! Because of the way Soldier ended, I knew there would be some heartache in Legion, but I had no idea just how much! Ember, however, stepped up and took on all the responsibility she could – while staying true to herself and her beliefs. The plan Talon was putting into action was chilling to say the least, and I really didn’t think things would end well. Main feel was probably fear! After being captured by Talon, Ember learned that her own fate was supposed to be much bleaker than anything she could […]

Review: Soldier – Julie Kagawa

Review: Soldier – Julie Kagawa

Betrayal, pain, action, fights, loyalty, love, hope, strength… Soldier encompassed all of that, and more! With a skillfull pen, Kagawa gave me an amazing story with Soldier. My main feels were of excitement and suspense, with a dash of romance, and possibly regret as well. Ember was torn between her human and dragon side more than ever, and this involved her in a strangely addictive and comprehensible love triangle. The action was fast-paced, the past tense and third- or first-person narration from various characters’ perspective made sure that all sides of the war were intimately covered. There were more than one twist I never saw coming, and I was completely out of breath by the time Soldier was over. We […]

Review: Råta – Siri Pettersen

Review: Råta – Siri Pettersen

Råta showed new facets of Hirka, things she didn’t even know about herself. Her strength was much more than anyone could have anticipated. Råta was more intense in some ways than Odinsbarn was. And at the same time, the secondary characters didn’t wow me the same way. They were complex, for sure, but I didn’t care for them the same way. Hirka, however, blew me away. The way she has grown from the beginning of Odinsbarn is nothing short of amazing. The epic-ness of Ravneringene, however,  isn’t as strong here as it was in the first book, and I felt like Råta suffered slightly from second book syndrome. Part of this may have been because the story was slower paced, […]

Review : Anarchy Missing – J. A. Huss

Review : Anarchy Missing – J. A. Huss

Anarchy Missing is incredibly intense! Like wow – so much is happening in such a short time it’s like I’m out of breath, and at the same time, I just want more! It’s not all that easy to pick an exact genre for Anarchy Missing, as there are some sci-fi or paranormal elements, and it’s definitely urban, and its very hot. What else do you need to know, right? The overall plot didn’t advance too much in this instalment, but the pace was fast, and the character interactions were intense and filled with danger. I loved Lulu, she’s the kind of heroine I can get behind. She is strong, she is able to take a step back and try to […]
