★★★★★ Review: A Queen of Thieves & Chaos – K.A. Tucker

★★★★★ Review: A Queen of Thieves & Chaos – K.A. Tucker

A Queen of Thieves and Chaos is fast-paced with many loose threads followed up on through the eyes of various characters. I loved how vivid the imagery was in A Queen of Thieves and Chaos, because I truly felt like I was running next to the characters, or hiding with them, or just generally being in their vicinity. The colors, the textures, the feelings – I felt it all, which made me enjoy myself that much more while reading this story. Tucker has built an incredible world with the Fate & Fire series, and this is something I think was particularly well done in A Queen of Thieves and Chaos, because it was easy to get into this new installment, […]

Review: Trouble With the Cursed – Kim Harrison

Review: Trouble With the Cursed – Kim Harrison

Trouble with the cursed is an adrenaline rush on crack! Rachel has so many things going on at the same time it’s almost impossible to keep up and breath at the same time! Oh my gosh! I don’t even know why I’ve waited a bit over a month to read this latest installment in the Hollows series, but somehow that happened. Rachel is still my best demon-witch, and I love her with all my heart! Even if there’s not really much I can say without spoiling things for those who haven’t gotten this far in the series yet… Of course, Jenks is very present in Trouble with the Cursed, even when Rachel tries to protect him. And Trent is there […]

Review: Children of Blood and Bone – Tomi Adeyemi

Review: Children of Blood and Bone – Tomi Adeyemi

Children of Blood and Bone is a complex fantasy novel, in which one people fight their way to win magic back in order to stay alive. There is a corrupt and vicious king, a credulous young prince, a very strong young woman, and a lot of action. Story: Children of Blood and Bone managed to tell a compelling story, build a complex world, and include magic that was quite different from other stories I’ve read. There was a dictatorial king, and he would kill the smallest flutter of magic he could find – to keep his people safe, or so he said. Zélie was learning to fight, to survive, to keep the former magic users – dîviners – safe. And […]

Review: The Heart Forger – Rin Chupeco

Review: The Heart Forger – Rin Chupeco

The Heart Forger is an amazing fantasy story, and I have to say I’m surprised by how much I loved it! Story: I was so curious about The Heart Forger, even if I didn’t fall in love with The Bone Witch, I was very curious as to what would happen in this second installment. And I was wowed! Tea has grown so much as a character, and the pace was much better. There was a lot of action, through flashbacks, and the tale the Bard told as it was shown to him by Tea. There were many surprises, and the ending left me completely out of breath! I need more, and I need it now. In The Heart Forger, Tea […]

Audioreview: Hell’s Revenge – Eve Langlais

Audioreview: Hell’s Revenge – Eve Langlais

Hell’s Revenge is filled with a solid plot, mystery, suspense, some extreme hotness and lots of humor. Story: Hell’s Revenge is a risqué story, in which Muriel lives with her two consorts, David and Auric. And because of her sex-based powers, she has to make sure she gets enough sex. Which definitely brought out both a lot of steam, and some much needed   to help with all the break-neck speed action. Muriel finds out that she’s pregnant. Her up-until-now unknown mother shows up unexpectedly to share the news with her, Lucifer, and the two dads. Not only does she inform them all about the pregnancy, she also explains to them that she needs the baby once it’s born. Hell’s Revenge […]

Review: The Bone Witch – Rin Chupeco

Review: The Bone Witch – Rin Chupeco

The Bone Witch had a very slow pace, and felt more like a prequel disguised as a novel than an actual novel. It’s like its whole purpose was to set up the next book in the series. Story: There are dragons. There are necromancers. There are monsters, and monarchs. The Bone Witch had a lot of potential, but didn’t completely live up to it in my opinion. The switching between the present and the past could have been smoother, for example, because both gave me some very good insights to what might be going on. In a world where there are different kinds of witches, there is, of course a hierarchy among them. And Tea is kind of both at […]

Review: Archangel’s Viper – Nalini Singh

Review: Archangel’s Viper – Nalini Singh

Archangel’s Viper was a whirlwind of plot, action and feels! Fast paced, with a lot at stake, I was taken for a trip I won’t soon forget. Story: Archangel’s Viper is about Holly and Venom, and the attraction between them. It’s also about the voice Holly hears in her mind, and how she’s grown extremely strong and fast in a short time. She needs discipline, which Venom has in spades. But she needs more than being a fighter, too. Venom and Holly go on a dangerous trip to figure out what is happening to her, and not one, but two Archangels are needed to deal with some of the things that come up on that trip. I loved getting to […]

Review: Wicked Bite – Rebecca Zanetti

Review: Wicked Bite – Rebecca Zanetti

Wicked Bite packed an even bigger punch than the four prior books in the Realm Enforcers series! Action, fights and betrayal that made my head spin. Story: I was happy to get a book where Nessa and Bear were the main characters, but I hadn’t really counted on Nessa actually going undercover. She seemed young and a bit inexperienced in the prior book, but she was very far from it. Bear was still suffering from changing too many times in the prior story, and it appeared as if his life might be in danger. There chemistry between Nessa and Bear was very strong. But neither of them really trusted the other. Wicked Bite involved a lot of the plot that […]

Review: Wildfire – Ilona Andrews

Review: Wildfire – Ilona Andrews

Wildfire took me on a journey that was extremely fast-paced, filled with action, betrayal, romance, intrigue and a complicated plot. So well done! What else can I say about Wildfire? The character development is awesome. The universe is completely set up. I love Rogan. I also love Nevada. And Nevada’s family. I love all the magic! And the intrigue. As well as the fight scenes. And the action, too. Now this sounds like a poem. But I’m no poet, am I? Wildfire is fast-paced. And it’s so well done! The storyline attractive, and I just want more. Small secrets were revealed. Some big ones as well. And review still sounds like a poem. So I’ll just go with it, then. […]

Review: White Hot – Ilona Andrews

Review: White Hot – Ilona Andrews

White Hot brought some more explanations about the Hidden Legacy universe, and I got to know Nevada, Rogan, and the other characters better. The pace is fast, and there is so much going on. I’m in a magic-induced nirvana right now. I don’t know how the Andrews do it, but White Hot was actually even better than Burn for Me! The character development was awesome, and so was the overall storyline, with parts continuing from the last books, and many new happenings as well. The political intrigue was still going on, and the magic used to undermine the different houses was amazing. Not going to say too much about White Hot, as I don’t want to spoil anything – just […]
