I am literally going to kill my mother. To say I have mommy issues is putting it mildly. The woman who abandoned me has a lot of nerve to just saunter back into my life without warning and drop a bombshell of atomic proportions. I tried to kill her as a way of resolving my inner Freudian issues, but my damned boyfriends stopped me. Spoilsports. As if wanting to strangle my birth mother isn't enough, once again, someone is messing with my life and a new player steps in to save me. Did I mention my dark knight is tall, gorgeous, and fanged? Just don't tell my lovers because apparently they're not willing to share me with the undead. The final showdown fast approaches. I don't care how powerful they are. They screwed up big time when they took something precious of mine. It's never a good idea to piss off this princess of Hell because revenge is my middle name. Thrust into the final showdown, thankfully, I've got more than my fallen angel and kitty at my side. Dark, Fanged, and Delicious is determined to join my group. I'm facing my biggest challenge yet, but don't worry, with the help of my family and lovers, Hell will have its revenge.
Hell’s Revenge is filled with a solid plot, mystery, suspense, some extreme hotness and lots of humor.
Story:
Hell’s Revenge is a risqué story, in which Muriel lives with her two consorts, David and Auric. And because of her sex-based powers, she has to make sure she gets enough sex. Which definitely brought out both a lot of steam, and some much needed to help with all the break-neck speed action.
Muriel finds out that she’s pregnant. Her up-until-now unknown mother shows up unexpectedly to share the news with her, Lucifer, and the two dads. Not only does she inform them all about the pregnancy, she also explains to them that she needs the baby once it’s born.
Hell’s Revenge is a fast-paced story, and while there are many steamy scenes, there is plenty of action as well. And there is the mystery surrounding The One, who has been after Muriel for all the books in the series. Most loose ends are tied up in this story, and Muriel even attracts another lover to her menage. While I found the vampire to be intriguing, I never really got a chance to get to know him, as he wasn’t present in that many scenes.
Characters:
Muriel – the ultimate princess of Hell. She’s a strong woman, she knows how to fight, she knows how to stand up for herself and the people she loves. And she knows when to ask for help, too.
Auric is a fallen angel, and I totally fell for him in Lucifer’s Daughter. He continues to be a favorite of mine, because he tries his best to do what is right – but only as long as his loved ones are safe.
David was great in this story, and I loved how he would not automatically take anyone’s side in an argument. He carefully analyzed the situation and went for what would be best for all of them.
Writing style :
Hell’s Revenge is told from Muriel’s point of view, and I love her sassy inner dialogue. There are also both action scenes and dialogues that move the story forward at a rather fast pace.
Feels :
Both love and excitement, and quite a bit of anger on Muriel’s behalf.
Narration:
Estrella did a great job with the narration! Her different voices made it easy to know who was talking, and I found her pace of speech to be perfect for Hell’s Revenge.
“No, my first question was actually ‘Do you want to die agonizingly or…well, really agonizingly?’ In my world, revenge wasn’t just approved of by my father; it was expected.”
“He’ll let you go when you can comport yourself as a lady.” I snorted. Like that would ever happen. “When Hell freezes over.” At his arched brow, I flushed and amended my statement, “Again.”
Reading this book contributed to these challenges:
I still need to start this series. I’ve read the Welcome to Hell books so I’ve met Muriel and her guys, but just need to get busy and read these.
I like that some of the mystery gets explained and interesting about her mother popping back in.
LOL, your quotes!
Muriel is so much fun! And I’m glad the quotes I chose made you laugh 😉
Ooooh this series looks and sounds pretty good. I just can’t do audiobooks. I tried again recently and it’s really not my thing. 🙁
Langlais’ books are good in print, too, Stephanie, so no worries. It took me a while to get into audios, but now, I just love listening to books during my commute.
Hmmm…. sounds like a much happier and fun Merry Gentry (or whatever her name was b/c it’s been so long since I’ve read those). I think I might just have to read these b/c everyone needs sass and “fun” in their reading!! Awesome review b/c yeah, you’re killing the TBR… 😉
It is happy and fun, but there is still action and some suspense thrown in 🙂 Sorry / not sorry about killing the TBR, Kristin 😉
I don’t know why but I have yet to read this author. She is on my must read list and humor is something I’m gravitating toward lately. I may have to read or listen to her work this year. Brilly review.
Oh my gosh, Melissa – Eve Langlais never fails to make me laugh out loud! Her stories are raunchy, fun and have a real plot.
Glad you enjoyed this one. I skipped past your review as I have this one to listen to yet. I really enjoy her books, both print and audible.
I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did, Laura!
“And because of her sex-based powers, she has to make sure she gets enough sex. Which definitely brought out both a lot of steam”
Omg :’) what a great concept ahhaa.i havent heard of this series before, than you for sharing
It’s so much fun! The devils are not all that bad, and there is some very hot scenes mixed in with the action and the humor. 😀
What an intriguing plot! I’m glad to hear you liked it. Sounds like it has some awesome characters -and I love sassy characters, so I’ll take sassy inner dialogue any day. 🙂

Sassy characters are the best! And Muriel made me laugh SO hard 🙂
I was so interested in this novel ever since I read the synopsis. I was caught up ever since the line when she was like ‘my boyfriends stopped me.’ And then we have a lot of family issues going on, what with her wanting to kill her birth mother. I’ve never read a book where the main character has sex-based powers… I’ve only known this exists lately and I’m curious to try one.
Eve Langlais is so much fun! Her books are well done, flirty and humorous, and in this series there is both a bit of a mystery and some suspense, too 🙂

I love this series. I haven’t tried it on audio. I wish that we got more time with the vampire too. Great review.
