Review: Holiday Wishes – Jill Shalvis

Review: Holiday Wishes – Jill Shalvis

Holiday Wishes was a sweet, tender novella in one of my favorite Shalvis series, and I loved to see this more mature side of Sean. Story: While Holiday Wishes is a quite short story, the feel of the Heartbreaker Bay gang is very much present. The group of friends and family are away for a weekend of bachelor and bachelorette party for Pru and Finn. All organized by Sean, to the amazement of everyone. He has planned everything down to the smallest detail. Apart from the fact that his very first girlfriend, the one he let get away, is the innkeeper. The easy banter between the characters, as well as their strong ties always makes Heartbreaker Bay the place to […]

Review: Elliott Redeemed – Scarlett Cole

Review: Elliott Redeemed – Scarlett Cole

Elliott Redeemed brought me the secrets Elliott kept, of his past, of how they affected his present, and what he did to deal with his darkness. Until he met Kendalee and Daniel, he was utterly lost. Story: There was a lot going on in Elliott Redeemed. Preload was back from tour, and more of the band members had moved out from their common house to be with their significant others. Elliott was back to having nightmares about his childhood, and I really wasn’t sure any good was going to happen for him. As he went to the Children’s Hospital to visit children with cancer, he stopped by at another room as well. That’s how he met Daniel. Who had set […]

Review: Råta – Siri Pettersen

Review: Råta – Siri Pettersen

Råta showed new facets of Hirka, things she didn’t even know about herself. Her strength was much more than anyone could have anticipated. Råta was more intense in some ways than Odinsbarn was. And at the same time, the secondary characters didn’t wow me the same way. They were complex, for sure, but I didn’t care for them the same way. Hirka, however, blew me away. The way she has grown from the beginning of Odinsbarn is nothing short of amazing. The epic-ness of Ravneringene, however,  isn’t as strong here as it was in the first book, and I felt like Råta suffered slightly from second book syndrome. Part of this may have been because the story was slower paced, […]

Review: For You – Kristen Ashley

Review: For You – Kristen Ashley

For You is simply excellent – romance, suspense, 2nd chances, friendships, small town – it’s ALL good I have always been a huge fan of second chance romances, and For You delivered a very delicious one! February and Alexander could have had it all. They seemed destined to be together and started dating in high school. Then, something happened, and February broke up with Alexander. She went on a wild streak, and ultimately married another man. After that marriage ended in disaster, February kind of ran away from home and went around the US working in bars. Never getting too close to anyone, until she gets called home to help her brother run the family bar. Once she is home, […]

Review: Accidentally on Purpose – Jill Shalvis

Review: Accidentally on Purpose – Jill Shalvis

Accidentally on Purpose continues in the same vein as the prior Heartbreaker Bay books, and the romance made me melt into a puddle. This series is filled with feel-good romance, great friendships and off the chart chemistry! Accidentally on Purpose is sweet, quirky, hot and funny, I had a really good time getting to know Elle and Archer better. It was apparent in the prior books that they were reluctantly attracted to each other, and that they were both holding back. Understanding why was very nice, and seeing behind Elle’s close to perfect façade made me like her even more. A go-getter and caregiver, Elle is always there for her friends, giving advice, helping out, working hard… But she doesn’t […]

Review: The Trouble With Mistletoe – Jill Shalvis

Review: The Trouble With Mistletoe – Jill Shalvis

The Trouble with Mistletoe was a great story, with characters who already feel like close friends of mine, and a romance that made me blush. Friendship, romance, blast from the past and pet-goodness… What’s not to love, right? The Trouble with Mistletoe managed to mix romance, hotness and sweetness to a near perfect mix, and I really enjoyed the characters, both the new ones, and those I already met in Sweet Little Lies. Willa felt slighted ever since her teenage years because of Keane, but never once had she tried to see things from his perspective. I loved how he tried to make friends with his great-aunt’s cat, and how that same cat brought him back into Willa’s orbit. A […]

Review: If You Only Knew – Kristan Higgins

Review: If You Only Knew – Kristan Higgins

If You Only Knew is a cute read which still tackles some serious and heavy subjects – I loved the strong friendship between the sisters. If You Only Knew is a contemporary romance that I would definitely tag as realistic fiction, as it follows two sisters – Jenny and Rachel – through some of the upheavals of adult life. How to deal with things when it’s impossible to run to mom and dad, how to stay strong when all one wants to do is to curl into a small ball and cry. How to trust again after that trust has been completely torn apart by someone who should have known better. How to deal with secrets – both those within […]

Review: Rock Wedding – Nalini Singh

Review: Rock Wedding – Nalini Singh

Rock Wedding is a toe-curlingly wonderful second-chance-at-love romance, and I loved everything about it! In the prior Rock Kiss books, Sarah and Abe were mentioned together, and it was obvious the end of their marriage happened because of Abe. In Rock Wedding, we finally got their full story, mostly told from Sarah’s perspective, and she totally and utterly broke my heart! She’s such a beautiful soul that has been through a lot of hard times and heartache, and she thought that with Abe, things would be different. And they were – for a while. Until Abe’s own demons became so ever-present he couldn’t keep them all on the inside of his heart anymore, and started spewing them out on Sarah […]

Review: Sweet Little Lies – Jill Shalvis

Review: Sweet Little Lies – Jill Shalvis

Sweet Little Lies is a fantastic start to Shalvis’ new series. There is romance galore, as well as friendship, humor and loyalty as well. As soon as I started reading Sweet Little Lies, I knew I was going to fall in love with it! First of all, the romantic interest’s name is Finn *sighs* and he owns an Irish bar *double-sighs* and he’s loyal to a fault, strong and hardworking. Plus, he’s very easy on the eyes. The way Pru described him to me showed me I was going to love her as well. She’s been through a lot, none of it her won fault, and because she’s felt so much guilt over her parents’ mistakes, she’s made it her […]

Review: The Problem With Forever – Jennifer L. Armentrout

Review: The Problem With Forever – Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Problem With Forever gave me all the feels, and it took me a while to be able to actually write a full review – no coherence for days. I love NA novels that make me sad, angry, happy – sometimes all at the same time. The Problem With Forever really rose to the occasion and made my heart break more than once, and I cried, laughed and cheered. I also screamed a bit – especially at Mallory’s adoptive dad – because characters did or said stuff they really shouldn’t have. Mallory and Rider *sighs* they have been through so much darkness and abuse, it’s truly amazing they can function and have any kind of hope at all. They were […]
