Review: The Lemon Sisters – Jill Shalvis

Review: The Lemon Sisters – Jill Shalvis

The Lemon Sisters felt like the perfect behind-the-scenes story of a marriage, but also of the relationship sisters can have. The Lemon Sisters follow two sisters – and they lead very different lives. They were both hiding part of their frustrations with their lives, to not burden each other. Until one day, when Mindy shows up unannounced at Brooke’s house. Feeling overwhelmed and tired, Mindy needs a break. And in a way, Brooke does, too. Therefore, the two sisters swap houses for a few days, and Brooke takes Mindy’s kids back to Wildstone, the place where she hasn’t been back in ages. The Lemon Sisters follows Brooke much more closely than Mindy, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t get to […]

ARC Review ~ Under the Northern Lights ~ S.C. Stephens #COYER

ARC Review ~ Under the Northern Lights ~ S.C. Stephens #COYER

I admit to requesting Under the Northern Lights based on having read other books from Stephens. Had I known exactly what I was getting, I might not have chosen to read it. That being said, I have to say I’m happy to have met this “other side” of Stephens. The story centers around Mallory and Michael. Mallory’s plane crashes (she was flying solo) in remote Alaska. Fearing her chances of survival are slim in the harsh conditions, she’s surprised when she’s essentially rescued by a mountain man. Michael. He can offer her food and shelter but transportation home has to wait as winter begins to really sink her claws into the area. As Mallory and Michael spend days, weeks, then […]

Review: Cross Me & Claim Me – Geneva Lee

Review: Cross Me & Claim Me – Geneva Lee

Cross Me is a spin-off from another Geneva Lee series, and I might have enjoyed this even more if I already knew Alexander and Clara before I met them in this story. A royal couple, with a lot of pressure from the outside world, their relationship is not an easy one. However, there is a lot of love between them – only not enough conversations and openness at time. There is a lot of hotness here, and there is also intrigue, secrets, and a little darkness. The political intrigue caught my attention, and I can’t wait to see how Clara and Alexander deal with everything they’re up against. A royal couple, with a lot of pressure from the outside world, […]

Review ~ The Purest Hook ~ Scarlett Cole

Review ~ The Purest Hook ~ Scarlett Cole

Wow! The Purest Hook kept me up past my bedtime – not necessarily a good thing since I was in Europe 😉 but I couldn’t put it down. I’d been excited to get Pixie and Dred’s story and SCole did NOT disappoint! Pixie is this tiny waif of a girl – thus her nickname – who works at Second Circle Tattoos. Trent and Cujo literally found her on their doorstep and took her in. She’s become the little sister neither had and they’d do anything for her. Even warn away potential suitors. However, Pixie is stronger than she looks. She’s been through some tough stuff and came out of the other side. She’s not unscathed but she has pluck. And […]

New Release Review ~ Tempted by Scandal ~ Karen Booth (@karenbbooth)

New Release Review ~ Tempted by Scandal ~ Karen Booth (@karenbbooth)

Tempted by Scandal is the first in a collaborative series and as a beginning, it has me excited by what’s to come! What Worked: Characters Tempted by Scandal revolved around a couple – Nadia and Matt. A few other characters were introduced, primarily Teresa and Liam, who will be the focus in the next installment. Nadia and Matt become involved intimately despite working together. Nadia is Matt’s assistant and he’s the CEO of his company. Yeah…scandalous. 😉 I liked them together. The seem to have a brilliant working relationship that’s helped develop their romantic feelings. And outside of work, they seem to have much in common despite vastly different upbringings. I liked that the both considered family to be very […]

Review: F*ck Marriage – Tarryn Fisher

Review: F*ck Marriage – Tarryn Fisher

F*ck Marriage is a raw, honest tale about Billie and her banked marriage. But it’s also about revenge, love, hope, and friends. Story: F*ck Marriage isn’t only about Billie, though, it is also about Woods and Satcher, who used to be best friends. That is, until Woods cheated on Billie and told her he wanted a divorce. Most of the relationships in F*ck Marriage are rather complicated, once one layer is pealed off, there’s another one ready to be dissected, and that made it a little hard to get to know the characters at times. While I enjoyed Billie, it was also a bit difficult to relate to her. She didn’t know what she wanted. And she didn’t really know […]

Review: New Camelot Trilogy – Sierra Simone

Review: New Camelot Trilogy – Sierra Simone

The New Camelot Trilogy is hot, it’s filled with intrigue, taboo, politics and suspense, and it’s not certain that all the players will still be there in the end… Story: The New Camelot Trilogy is my Can You Read a Series in a Month Challenge – and I totally nailed it. As soon as I started reading, I was drawn in – to the mystery, the steam, the friendships, and the war. The main characters were introduced in a great way, and I felt a connection to them even if they were all very different from me. There is a political intrigue going on, but there’s also something that appears to be slightly supernatural happening. Especially because both Greer and […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review: Cowboys Don’t Samba – Tara Lain (@TaraLain @VivianaIzzo)

Blogger Wife Chat Review: Cowboys Don’t Samba – Tara Lain (@TaraLain @VivianaIzzo)

Cowboys Don’t Samba took a little while to take off for me, wifey, but once it did – it really did! What did you think of the beginning of Maury’s story? I have to say TLain pulled me in from the start, wifey. Maybe because I just knew where she was going with Maury’s story. Whatever it was, I enjoyed Maury from the get-go!   As always, Lain managed to bring more to the story than romance and bull-riding! I loved how different Tristao and Maury appeared at the beginning of the story, and especially the rivalry between Tristao’s older brother and Maury. Which stemmed from stereo-typing and preconception in my opinion. Yes! I admired how TLain incorporated the Latino/Mexican […]

Review ~ Tumble ~ Adriana Locke

Review ~ Tumble ~ Adriana Locke

If y’all hadn’t figured it out yet, I’m a sucker for second chance romances. ALocke served up a nice one in Tumble. Neely and Dane had been high school sweethearts but when it came time to leave their small town for college, Dane broke up with Neely. And then he proceeded to really break her heart. So Neely moved on, got her degree and her dream job in NYC. Just when she thought she was going to get her chance to really make a difference, she was betrayed and she, therefore, quit. And when life serves you a blow like that, there’s only one thing that can make you feel better…Mama. Being from a small town like Dogwood Lane, it […]

Review ~ The Fractured Heart ~ Scarlett Cole

Review ~ The Fractured Heart ~ Scarlett Cole

The Fractured Heart marked my long-awaited return to the Second Circle Tattoos series. Thankfully SCole was appearing at RARE Paris which gave me the push I needed to finish this amazing series. Highlights: Characters The Fractured Heart revolved around Cujo – co-owner of Second Circle Tattoos – and Drea. These two! I couldn’t wait for their story and to get to know them better. Their verbal sparring is so much fun and makes it seem as though they’re oil and water. However, they’re more like gas & match – and watching them work towards combustion was awesome. Getting better acquainted with them, seeing all they’ve been through and continue to endure, was heartbreaking. It also explained a lot about them. Their […]
