He’s bossy, moody, and overprotective.
He’s also a pro athlete who needs to focus on winning games and staying out of the headlines.
I’m fiercely independent and need a man like I need a second period each month.
So when our worlds collide, I never expected him to be the one to jump in and save me. Especially not when my roommate disappears, leaving me with her baby.
I’m clueless about babies—and it shows. Good thing Alexei isn’t. With six nieces and nephews and an apparent hero complex, the dude is both sexy and more than capable. It’s a combination that makes it easy to forget we’re just playing house.
Finding Alexei reads as a modern-day fairytale, with a little bit of Pretty Woman mixed in. It’s a sweet romance, and I enjoyed getting to know Alexei and Ryleigh.
Ryleigh works hard, and she works long hours – and now, she has to take care of her former room mate’s baby. Life is not good for her, and one night, leaving her work, Alexei defends her against one of the customers. The romance is rather slow burning, and I love that – especially because Alexei just wants to help. Of course, he is very rich, so it’s no difficulty for him to share his home and a little of his money with Ryleigh and the baby.
However, I did find it strange that we didn’t learn more about the former room mate. We did learn why she left her baby with Ryleigh – but then, she kind of wasn’t a part of the story anymore. And to me, having her more involved would have made the story even deeper. This is why I think Finding Alexei could have been even better.
Overall, I enjoyed the story, and I will definitely read more from Ryan – the writing is solid, and the romance itself worked well for me.
Reading this book contributed to these challenges:
I like that cover a lot! It sounds like a really sweet romance. The roommate situation is very sketchy and I can understand why it took away just a little bit of your enjoyment.
Actually, the roommate situation ended up making sense, but it didn’t have a big enough part in the later part of the tory…
And it was a sweet romance 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Nick!
The roommate thing is a little… different. The story sounds sweet, but the roommate part does put me off a little bit. I think with something that unique, it should hold a major place in the plot rather than just be mentioned here and there.
Fantastic review 🙂
Yeah, it’s very different to say the least. But it was kind of explained, but then it wasn’t really mentioned much again.
Thank you!

I know how you feel about details revolving around a secondary character, being omitted from the story. That is one of my man peeves when it comes to reading. I am glad you were still able to enjoy it though.
Yeah, I just felt like it would have brought so much to the story overall if there was a bit more about it. And I’m happy I still enjoyed it, too 😉
I’m glad you thought it was so good even with the roommate thing. Who does that ? Just leaves their child with an old rooommate? Anne – Books of My Heart
See, that’s the thing. It was explained to my satisfaction, but then it was kind of dropped – whereas I thought it could have had a little more space in the whole story…
You do have me curious, my dear. The fact the former roommate isn’t more present is odd though. I’ve not read much from Kendall Ryan. I’ll have to give her a go again soon! {{{big hugs}}}
I’m glad I piqued your curiosity, wifey! And you should pick this up, so I can discuss that thing with you 😀
