Forever and a Day is maybe the most beautiful story of the Lucky Harbor series. Grace is just such a lovely woman, living vicariously through Amy and Mallory, but really wanting a man to love herself as well. I think what I love the most about Grace is that she feels like she doesn’t belong anywhere. She feels inadequate when it comes to her adoptive parents who have raised her to be a career woman rather than one who wants happiness in her life. Scott is the perfect busy doctor slash parent to his wheelchair-bound twenty-one-year old sister slash single dad to his own son. How Scott has enough hours in every day is still a mystery to me, but he somehow makes it. He is very successful at work, and a little less so at the home front.

Forever and a Day is my favorite Lucky Harbor novel, I like it even more than I liked At last! Grace is a little clumsy, but such a cute heroine anyway, and Scott is the forbidding doctor who thinks he doesn’t have time for love.
When Scott calls Grace and asks her to look after his new dog, Tank, Grace takes the job, even if it isn’t her flyer that advertised dog-walker services. Their quirky personalities, and their missed attempts at resisting each other makes them both so loveable and root-worthy. I was hoping, along with their friends, that they would work things out, fall in love and live happily ever after.
It is hard for Grace to stay in Lucky Harbor without letting her parents know what she’s up to. At the same time, she both kind of starts a new business, and interviews for a few positions that she is highly qualified for. As the story moves on, Scott and Grace are both ready to ignite the flames of their passion, and they are so hot together a simple fan is not enough to keep your cool while you’re reading this. They are resisting each other for all the wrong reasons, and when they finally give in, it is both hot and sweet, and it feels like they have both finally come full circle.
It is always wonderful to pick up a Jill Shalvis novel; the romance is there, along with the humor, the friendship and the multi-dimensional characters. The Lucky Harbor series is among my favorite chick-lit / romance series, because the characters are all so real, and their romance is the kind that exists in books, but that could maybe, possibly also exist in the real world, and Forever and a Day did not disappoint!
