Before I Wake picks up right where If I Die stopped. Kaylee has to get her non-life together and go back to school. This creates some strange situations, as Kaylee has trouble controlling her new powers. Her new job is not the easiest to deal with either, and it's a lot more dangerous than any of them anticipated when she accepted to collect stolen souls in the first place.
Before I Wake had absolutely everything I could have wanted to make it a great book! Kaylee finally figuring out what it means to be an extractor as well as a bean sidhe, Tod and Kaylee growing closer, and Kaylee fighting with all she has to save her friends and family.
Before I wake is exciting, and at the same time very sweet and romantic. Filled with action and fast paced, I could not click ‘next page’ quick enough.
When Kaylee returns to school, it is very difficult for her to deal with all the attention. Nash and Sabine do not want to talk to her, and the only real friend she has in school is Em. The contrast between the normal teenage life Kaylee leads with the fighting against hellions and other creatures of the Netherworld made the read even more interesting.
Kaylee’s dad has to be very accepting, both because he hasn’t been present in her life for very long and because Kaylee isn’t a normal teenager anymore. It is great that he is finally accepting Tod and sees that Tod and Kaylee together are keeping each other sane and happy.
When Nash and Kaylee can finally work things out, it is just great, even if Nash still has to figure some things out. Sabine is also turning out to be a lot more fun than I first thought she would be in prior books. I think I could actually grow to really like her 🙂
The final battle against Avari, Belphegore and Invidia was epic. And thanks to Nash and Tod’s quick thinking, Kaylee managed to save what was the most important to her.
I still haven't even started the series, but I am so looking forward to it!!thanks for stopping by. 🙂
Oh, this series is really excellent! But sometimes, it's nice to wait for it to be completed by the author – in order to indulge in several books back to back – immersed in the same world.
Lovely review, Lexxie! I still need to read this series as well, but I've heard some really great things about it! <3Vivian @ Vivaciously, Vivian
The cover is pretty!Great review. Haven't read the book yet but It's in my TBR pile.
It is a very well written series, and I love the kind of super naturals the characters are 🙂
Those pesky TBR piles 🙂 I look forward to seeing what you think about it once you read it!
