2021 New Release Challenge

The 2021 New Release Challenge is a year-long challenge in which we aim to read books released in 2021.  Brandee and I are the sole hosts of the challenge, and we both hope many of you will sign up and participate!  There is one post on the top of our homepage for all review links for the year, where the link is open for books you read and review each quarter. I also want to say a big thank you to Michelle @ Limabean Designs for creating our beautiful logo!!

In 2020, I read 75 books that counted for the New Release Challenge, and I don’t see why this should be any different for 2021. This is just one reason why we want to continue with the New Release Challenge. We both always tend to do better when someone cheers for me, and we cheer for them. Also, trying to make sure we are held accountable both for the ARCs I receive and books we buy is important to us.

As always, I have already created a 2021 Release shelf on Goodreads, if you want to check it out to help you be inspired ?

There is a Facebook Group for the New Release Challenge, to have a place where we can keep up with each other, cheer each other on, and get to know each other better. It is also a place where we can help each other find even more new releases. For those of you who have already participated, it’s the same group as before.

The rules for the 2021 New Release Challenge are simple:

  • Books have to be released and reviewed in 2021.
  • Other challenges can be used as well, if you are participating in the Netgalley / Edelweiss challenge or in the COYER challenge, books can count towards more than one challenge, as long as the ones you use for the 2021 New Release Reading Challenge qualify to the other rules.
  • The minimum length for a book to qualify is 100 pages, it can be in any format though, physical, e-book, ARC or audiobook.
  • The New Release Challenge is open from January 1st through December 31st 2021, and sign-ups are open until September 1st 2021.
  • You don’t have to be a blogger to participate, you can link to your review on Goodreads or Booklikes instead – so don’t be shy!
  • If you want to spread the love, please use #2021NewReleaseChallenge on Twitter ?

There are five levels  in the 2021 New Release Challenge:

  1. 1-30 books per year – New Release Newbie
  2. 31-60 books per year – New Release Pro
  3. 61-100 books per year – New Release Veteran
  4. 101-200 books per year – New Release Enthusiast
  5. 200+ books per year – New Release Obsessed

To sign up, please link your sign-up post in the linky below, and also make sure you use the quarterly linky for your reviews. You can choose if you want to do monthly or quarterly challenge updates on your blog, but you will have the possibility to link up each quarter with your reviews.

Well I am pretty bad at reading new releases, because I have so many old books to catch up on. But I can surely get in a few. I created a shelf and I’m going to try my hand at tracking this year ??

    Miss y’all!! Hugs!

  2. I am not even sure if I will reach my goal of 30 NR´s in 2020. But I love doing this challenge and having fun is never a bad thing, isn´t it?! Count me in *smile*

  3. I always enjoy participating in this challenge and will be joining again in 2021. I still have to see how I did with my 2020. I do track the books I count in a document, but haven’t counted them yet. Thanks for hosting this challenge!

  4. *frowny face* Mr. Linky doesn’t like me for some reason – so I’m just going to comment and go from there.

I joined the New Release Challenge with a newer blog of mine, one that focuses on Romance in all the many genres and tropes. I believe I can hit 100 books this year so, we’ll see. 🙂

Since I had troubles linking up above here’s the link to the post at Happily Ever After Romance.

  5. Okay, it’s the end of March but I’m ready for a challenge. I mainly read stuff from NetGalley, so this sounds like a good way to make myself a bit more accountable. I’m aiming for 50-60. We’ll see!
