Weekend Wrap-up #347 – Am I Back?

Posted 4 March, 2022 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Memes, Wrap-up Posts / 25 Comments

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookworms. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS #347

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

The Sunday Post #276 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

Oh my gosh! It’s been over six months since I posted a weekend wrap-up post. How is that even possible? Life has definitely been very busy, mostly with work. But all is good, even if I’m still incredibly busy. Our covid restriction were taken away two weeks ago, so our cases are rising again. However, I have to say that seeing my students’ whole face makes such a big difference! And they participate so much more in class, too, probably because I can hear them clearly.

I’m looking forward to some book cons coming up, too. At the end of the month, I’m going to Paris for RARE, in May, I’m going to Edinburgh for RARE, and in July, I’m going to Dallas for Book Bonanza. That is, if things calm down a little bit with other things that I really don’t want to talk about…

I’ve missed my weekend post peeps, so I’ll do quite a bit of blog-hopping this weekend.

This Week’s Puppies in Action:

On our way to Spain a couple of weeks ago for winter break. Freddy and Hercules were like this most of the car ride <3
Freddy still loves the beach above all.
Hercules enjoys the beach, too, but running around more than swimming.

Did you get some good books last week? What have you been up to this past week? I hope you and your loved ones are all doing well and being safe. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’re enjoying your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!

  1. I’ve been missing your posts! Hope all is well with you! Excited for you that you have events to look forward to! I’m just slowly starting to see some happening in the US. Of course, none are anywhere close to me. Hopefully they’ll move further inward instead of the coasts!

Those are some new to me reads! I hope you enjoy them all! My StS still goes up on Sundays, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

Freddy and Hercules area adorable. Nice book haul too! I’m looking forward to seeing people’s faces again too.

  3. Great to see you! I’m jut not quite ready for book cons yet. We are still staying close to home and masking even though restrictions have been lifted. I’m happy Freddie and Hercules are still enjoying their action.

    • Oh, I totally get that, Anne! I have been triple vaccinated, and at school, I have the windows open most of the time. At two of the bookcons I’m going to, I know we’ll be masked inside, I don’t have any specific news for the third one yet.
Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your weekend 🙂

Yay, glad to get your update, Linda! Looks like things are cruising right along for you and fun that you have the three book cons to look forward to.

    Have a great week!

  5. A trip to the beach sounds perfect! Glad you are able to see the kiddos faces AND it is encouraging them to participate more, that’s awesome. Enjoy your books. Have a great weekend!

    • It’s one of the few places we’ve actually been to these past two years.
Seeing my students’ faces, and seeing an increase in participation has been a treat. It takes so much energy to try to do all the talking in a lesson
      Thanks for stopping by Cindy.

Yea! So glad you are back – it’s always lovely to catch up. Our schools are going to no masks starting tomorrow, so we’ll see how it goes. We just finished a week-long mid-winter break, and lots of people (including my family) traveled. So we’ll see how it goes. Our governor has made it that schools cannot require masks, so I’m guessing we’ll see a spike, but my family is vaccinated, so hopefully things will be mild.

That’s exciting that you will be traveling. I wish I was closer to Texas so I could come say hello while you are in the States. But alas, I live very far away. I was supposed to go to Coastal Magic last month, but it was switched to virtual. I don’t have any other cons planned for 2022.

So happy to hear from you! I’m glad that things are looking up – I long for the days where COVID (and other things that we don’t want to talk about) weren’t putting such incredible stress on our day-to-day lives. I can’t wait to see you this summer! I still don’t have a ticket – they sold out before I could buy one and I’ve contacted so many people trying to get a ticket with no luck. However, I’ll still come hang out, even if I don’t have a ticket. I’m guessing that when it’s closer there will be more last minute cancellations.

Have a great week! Miss you so much <3

  8. You have been busy! We took away the mask restrictions here a couple weeks ago as well, and I am so glad to be able to smile at my students again. Sometimes just having that smile when I talk to them can change the way they react to a request from me. I think it makes my job a lot easier and the students happier too. Have a great week and hope to see you around here more! Looks like the dogs had fun too!
