Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #101

Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes…  If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.

The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.

Today, my hungry hearts quote is taken from The Turn by Kim Harrison (my review will be posted on Tuesday next week, if you’re interested). This scene happens in Trisk’s barn, where Kal has made an impromptu meal for her – and he just might have ulterior motives. Then again, so might Trisk…

My Hungry Hearts quote:

“Do you mind if I take my boots off? My feet are killing me,” she asked, and he looked up, his ears a faint pink of embarrassment at his inept attempts to serve the Jell-O. “Go ahead,” he said, finally managing to get an untidy slice on a plate. His lack of polish made her smile. That he was sneaking glances at her legs as she took her boots off made her feel desired. The blanket he’d put down as a rug was surprisingly soft, and she stretched her toes, distracted as Kal set a plate before her. “It’s kind of wiggly, isn’t it,” he said as he took his suit coat off, carefully setting it aside before sitting down across from her. On the radio, the music shifted to “Mustang Sally,” and Trisk smiled at his pained expression as he stared at the crackling speaker.
“It’s fine, really,” she siad when he reached to turn it off, and he sat back, things clearly not going the way he wanted them to. “Mmmmm, good,” she added as she took a spoonful, finding it had indeed been made with champagne, little bubbles bursting in her mouth. “Nothing but the best,” he said, relieved. “I love stables. The only thing that could improve this more than better music would be an actual horse in here.” Trisk poked through the Jell-O for the fruit, wondering at the hint of wistfulness in his voice.

Thanks for stopping by today, I look forward to reading your Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote. Have a terrific Thursday and don’t forget to link up.
