Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #14
Welcome to Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts, an original weekly meme hosted here at (un)Conventional Bookviews. So many of the books I read have food or drinks in them, some I’d love to try, and others I’d never ever want to taste… and I thought it could be interesting and fun to share some food and / or drink quotes… If you want to participate, you can grab my logo if you’d like, or you can make your own, but please link back to me in your own post.
The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not. Please share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Please link up beneath, and visit other bloggers who are participating in Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts as well.
Today, my quote is food! And it’s really yummy, too! It’s from Can’t Always Get What You Want by Chelsey Krause
Sophie Richards has been looking forward to a much-needed girls’ night out: a Rolling Stones tribute-band concert, a few drinks, a distraction from her grueling nursing shifts in acute care. But when her best friend bails, Sophie gets stuck with a blind date.
Although Brett Nicholson may be the hottest carpenter alive, and Sophie may technically be single, she isn’t exactly on the market. Six years ago she found The One. He was everything Sophie dreamed a man could be—and then she lost him. In an instant, her whole life changed, and she forgot all about happily ever after.
But as she gets to know Brett, Sophie starts to wonder about the future for the first time. With a broken heart still clouding her mind, jumping into a new relationship feels impossible. When she’s in his arms, walking away feels even harder. Now Sophie faces an impossible choice: living in the past or choosing love in the here and now.
My Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts quote:
But first things first: getting supper ready. Luckily, I had the presence of mind to throw the steaks in the marinade before I left for work this morning. We’ll also have grilled corn on the cob, vegetable skewers, and for dessert, my Grandma Lucy’s apple pie. It has a secret ingredient in it that drives men crazy. Well, at least that’s what Grandma Lucy used to say. And whether it’s man candy or not, it’s damn good pie. I start peeling apples, mixing them with cinnamon, sugar and my secret ingredient.
Thanks for stopping by today! Don’t forget to leave your link so I can come and visit your Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts post as well.
This is such a cute idea! I know I notice the food passages when I’m especially hungry and I have to put the read down to get some grub. The apple pie sounds amazing. I want some now! I hope everything’s great with you!!
I think I notice something edible or drinkable in about half the books I read, and that’s how I came up with the idea, Jaclyn. That apple pie does sound amazing, and towards the end, I learned the secret ingredient… I just may try it 😉

What is the secret ingredient???
You just gave me an idea for my weekend menu
If I told you, I’d have to kill you, Braine :p The secret ingredient may be revealed later in the story 😉
Omigoodness! I’m hungry now! That supper sounds delicious and I like the way the heroine talks about her grandma and her grandma’s special pie recipe! 😉
Hope you’re enjoying a thrilling Thursday, Lexxie! We’re down to FIVE DAYS!! *squee* **BIG HUGS**
I know, right? A full menu just like that! I’m gonna have all that at a BBQ this summer for sure!
*BIG HUGS*
Corn on the cobb is my favorite! I’m so glad summer is around the corner, that is typically when my hubby BBQ’s 😛
The characters from the book I’m reading (Ruby, by: Cynthia Bond) just enjoyed some delicious angel food cake; yum! 😛
I agree, Claudia, corn on the cob BBQ’ed is delicious! I look forward to some lazy weekends doing just that with friends and family now that it’s getting warmer.
I’ll have to do one of these posts when I start Spider’s Trap by Jennifer Estep. Cuz you know there will be food. LOL
Oh, is there food included in Estep’s books? I have to really hurry and read one of her books now 🙂
