The Sunday Post #64 – Weekly Wrap-up

Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

We had a fantastic Christmas in Norway! It was so nice to spend time with my mom, my sister and the rest of my family. It was a quiet affair, but we still had fun, and it was great to see the cousins together, and how their interactions change as they grow older. We ate a lot of amazing food, and everybody were happy with their presents. And my kids were extatic about our surprise…

Dachs valp - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Sunday Post

My mom has a dachshound, and in January, there will be puppies born in the South of Norway and my mom’s dog is the dad. And we have decided to buy one of the puppies. My children have been begging for a dog for several years, and I’ve always said no, but now – I feel ready to take on the responsibility of pet that will need a lot of both my time and my attention. So yeah, our surprise went over really, really well!

Christmas Brunch - (un)Conventional Bookviews - Sunday Post

This is how our Christmas Brunch table looked like – and that’s not even all the food! It was so good to just sit and eat until we had enough – then take a break only to come back to the table to eat more 😉

  1. Happy New Year! Congrats on your new furbaby. You guys are going to have lots of fun with that little ball of energy. Dogs are the best my kids loved when we surprised them with Dexter he is a cuddle bug and a momma’s boy for sure.

We eat a lot over the holidays too and it was great! Such yummy food, thank goodness it’s only once a year otherwise the only way I would get around is if people rolled me. 😉

Have a great week, Lexxie! Happy Reading! ox

    • Now that we have made the decision about the furbaby, I’m impatient 🙂 I can’t wait to meet the little guy (or gal) and have someone else to cuddle and play with.

Yeah, I’m thinking it’s a very good thing all that eating only happens once per year as well. I love all that time we spend around the table for Christmas, though, it’s very calming to chat, eat and just hang out.

  2. Happy New Year! It’s my first time on the Sunday Post and I’m sooo excited to check out all these posts. It’s so much fun.
It definitely sounds like you had a great time during the holidays. I love dogs and that dog looks so cute!! I can definitely understand the excitement about getting a new pet! 😉
My week was spend reading, blogging and enjoying time with my boyfriend. We’ve been living together for almost 8 years, but these days at home still feel like the best.

    Have a great week!

  3. Yay for getting a puppy!! I am super dog obsessed (we have 2) but I know what you mean about the time and responsibility! They really are a lot of work, especially when they are puppies. Can’t wait to see pictures!

  4. My mom has a dachshund. He’s a large miniature at 14 pounds with black longhair. I had red longhairs as a child. I bet your kids were excited. That looks a great Christmas. It was just me and DH for this year. We relaxed and I got a lot of reading done, which was nice. I will say that I’m ready to get back into the swing of things. Go back to work and get back to my normal schedule. Here’s to a great 2016

  5. Congrats on the dog! How fun… that’s a pretty great surprise. 🙂

That looks like a great spread! Glad your Christmas was awesome. That’s how we were at Thanksgiving- eat, relax, eat some more! Come to think of it, Christmas was kinda like that too. Ha ha!

    Happy New Year!

    • We can’t wait for the puppy to be born later this month, and then to finally arrive at our house, probably at the beginning of April 🙂

It was a great spread! But we had difficulty eating it all, as we had a huge supper the night before 😀

      Happy New Year, Greg.

  6. I am glad you had a great christmas in norway and that’s so awesome you’ll be getting a dog for your kids, I can understand why they are excited about that :). Your christmas brucnh looks good, we didn’t have a christmas brunch this year. Have a great week!

  7. YAY!!!! Puppy coming!! You probably won’t get him or her until the spring, right?!?!? I forget how long it takes to ween a pup. Do you guys have names picked out 🙂 I’m really excited for you. And I ended up being the main caretaker of our pup and it’s just like another kiddo – no biggie… once you get past pottie training (HA!!!!!)

I think I gained 15 pounds just looking at your Christmas brunch table 🙂 On top of what I already gained, I need to detox!

    Happy New Year!!!

    • I know! I can’t wait for the puppy to arrive! Probably at the beginning of April 🙂 I know I’ll end up being his or hers main caretaker, but that’s OK. If it’s a guy, we’ll name him Freddy, and if it’s a gal, Frejya 🙂
Uh Oh.. that was not my intention in showing off all the fantastic food, Kristin. Hopefully, since it was all virtual, it’ll work out 😉

  8. Ahhhh, great to hear that you had such a lovely christmas with the family Lexxie and lots of amazing food 😀 That’s amazing news, your family must be thrilled to get a puppy!! You’ll have to post pictures when the little bundle arrives so we can coo and fuss over him/her from afar LOL! Happy 2016 ♥

  9. Aw, that’s so great that you’re getting a puppy! The kids will be so excited! Let me guess, did they say they’ll walk him every day and never forget to feed him? I know I pulled that one when I was younger haha

  10. I’m so happy your surprise went over so well with the kids – but then, I kinda knew it would. 😉 I’m also happy you had such a great visit with your family over Christmas. It is nice to be together with everyone, even if it’s for a short period of time. Ooh, and the food! I know you enjoyed getting some of your mom’s cooking. 😉 Here’s to a fantabulous 2016, my friend! **BIG HUGS**

  11. Happy New Year and congratulations on the puppy! We have a dachshund and they are so fun and adorable. I can’t wait to see pictures of the puppy! Have a great week!!

  12. Lex, what a cute pup! I’m glad you’ve finally given in and taken the plunge. Dogs are so therapeutic. The man has told me after the new fence goes up he is getting a second dog. We already have Baby and Lucy between the two of us, but we go back home during the week and Lucy is alone. I think we’ll need a bigger bed! haha That table looks delish. I can only imagine sitting around eating and conversing. Such wonderful time spent. Happy 2016!

    • That pup is my mom’s dog when he was a baby 😀 Our puppy will be born later this month. Nice that the man wants another dog, no? I really hope we’ll be able to keep ours out of the bedrooms… not sure that’s going to work with so many people willing to cuddle while sleeping, though 😀

Yay for fur babies! I have a cat, but I remember my days of having a puppy. My little Lucy has been gone for about four years now. We had to put her down because the seizures were too much. Looks like you had a great time with your family.
