Review ~ Tumble ~ Adriana Locke

Review ~ Tumble ~ Adriana Locke

If y’all hadn’t figured it out yet, I’m a sucker for second chance romances. ALocke served up a nice one in Tumble. Neely and Dane had been high school sweethearts but when it came time to leave their small town for college, Dane broke up with Neely. And then he proceeded to really break her heart. So Neely moved on, got her degree and her dream job in NYC. Just when she thought she was going to get her chance to really make a difference, she was betrayed and she, therefore, quit. And when life serves you a blow like that, there’s only one thing that can make you feel better…Mama. Being from a small town like Dogwood Lane, it […]

ARC Review ~ At the Mountain’s Edge ~ Genevieve Graham #NewRelease2019

ARC Review ~ At the Mountain’s Edge ~ Genevieve Graham #NewRelease2019

At the Mountain’s Edge was a gripping story. GGraham once again takes on a period of time in Canadian history but one that is linked to American history as well. While I knew of the Klondike Gold Rush, I’d never given much thought to the treacherous conditions faced by the miners and merchants in chasing their fortune. Having read GGraham’s account here, I’m quite certain I’d not have had the mettle to survive. 😉 Liza Peterson’s family set off to Dawson City in hopes of prospering by opening a shop to sell supplies to the miners during the Klondike Gold Rush. Her father had sold the family on the idea of an “adventure of a lifetime”, which turned out to […]

ARC Review: Bishop – Sawyer Bennett

ARC Review: Bishop – Sawyer Bennett

Bishop was amazing! I’m so happy Ms. Bennett is branching out with more hockey-players – and both Bishop and Brooke really did it for me. Story: There’s a little bit of suspense with Brooke’s friend Nanette, and a whole lot of awesome hockey-talk, relationships between the players, and within the organization at large. Of course, the whole hockey setting is partly what I loved about Bishop, however, the characters really did it for me as well! There’s a certain camaraderie among these players, who were let go by their team to start a new team in Arizona. Because Brooke wanted to make sure her father, the coach, wouldn’t be unfair to Bishop, she pretended they were engaged when her father […]

ARC Review: Deep Cover – Scarlett Cole

ARC Review: Deep Cover – Scarlett Cole

Deep Cover was fantastic, the balance between a budding romantic relationship and a dark, dangerous case filled with suspense made my night very short. Story: Deep Cover kept me at the edge of my seat, because this story had some dangerous thugs from past books, and they appeared to be out fo blood. Big time! A joint case between my favorite undercover private contractors and the FBI worked really well. And I loved that Cabe and Amy met before they started working together. It made it difficult for them to conceal the sparks between them. There was a lot going on in Deep Cover, and the title is perfect for the story. Amy had to go undercover, and she had […]

Review: Marek – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Marek – Sawyer Bennett

Marek was a really good second-chance-at-love story, and I really enjoyed getting to know the background for his and Gracen’s break-up. Story: I have to say that in the beginning of the story, Marek acted like a jerk. There really is no other word for it – and while I could totally understand his anger and hurt, he did not try to make things better. Gracen was a real trooper, though, and did her best to take Marek’s anger in stride. And I really enjoyed how present Lilly was to the storyline. It’s not easy to have a hot romance while also including a young child! As Gracen and Marek got to know each other again, it was obvious they […]

Review: Michael’s Wings – Tiffany Reisz

Review: Michael’s Wings – Tiffany Reisz

Michael’s Wings… *sighs* I wish I had had the self control to read this selection of short novellas much slower. But that was simply impossible. The stories were all irresistible, and it made me so happy to be in the Orginal Sinners universe once more! Stories: All the stories in Michael’s Wings are set in the Original Sinners universe. If you know me at all, you know I absolutely love everything about the characters, the universe and the stories Reisz writes in this series. Each story brings something new to the table. A little quirk a character has. A different perspective on something that happened. A vulnerability that had been well hidden in the past. And, as always, the writing […]

Review: Murder Notes – Lisa Renee Jones

Review: Murder Notes – Lisa Renee Jones

Murder Notes is a fast-paced, action-filled suspense / mystery / romance with a kick-ass heroine, and a lot of men who think they know better. Story: Murder Notes starts with a nightmare from Lilah’s past, only to propel both her and the reader to the present. With several execution-style murders. The dead do not appear to have anything in common – maybe apart from the fact that Lilah is the one who profiles their cases. In order to dig deeper, Lilah has to go to the one place she has no inclination of visiting again. Home in the Hamptons. To her father, her brother, and other people she really does not want to see. Both the mystery and the suspense […]

Review: The Heart Forger – Rin Chupeco

Review: The Heart Forger – Rin Chupeco

The Heart Forger is an amazing fantasy story, and I have to say I’m surprised by how much I loved it! Story: I was so curious about The Heart Forger, even if I didn’t fall in love with The Bone Witch, I was very curious as to what would happen in this second installment. And I was wowed! Tea has grown so much as a character, and the pace was much better. There was a lot of action, through flashbacks, and the tale the Bard told as it was shown to him by Tea. There were many surprises, and the ending left me completely out of breath! I need more, and I need it now. In The Heart Forger, Tea […]

Review: Fast Burn – Lori Foster

Review: Fast Burn – Lori Foster

Fast Burn was an utterly satisfying end to the Body Armor series, and I absolutely loved Brand and Sahara. Story: Fast Burn had everything I love in a romantic suspense story! There was heat, of course. But there was also a lot of chemistry. And quite a bit of reluctance. Brand didn’t want to work for Sahara, he wanted to date her. And Sahara wanted Brand any way she could get him – and she really wanted him for Body Armor. As they are both very strong characters, that made for some great dialogues with a repartee that made me both laugh and smile at times. The suspense was palpable, especially because Sahara was kidnapped at the very beginning of […]

Review: The Heart Between Us – Lindsay Harrel

Review: The Heart Between Us – Lindsay Harrel

The Heart Between Us is a beautiful, beautiful story! Two sisters… lost in their own feelings, in their own fears. Story: The Heart Between Us is a very realistic story, even if not all of us go through a heart transplant, it was easy to identify with both Megan and Crystal. The beginning of their lives was very easy-going, up until the point when Megan was diagnosed with a heart condition. Going from begin best friends, twin sisters who did everything together, they started to grow apart. The growing apart is natural, it seems, as Megan spent her time in hospitals. Because their mom was always hovering, Crystal felt as if she was all alone. At the time of the […]
