STS Stacking The Shelves #48 – Anticipation

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to your library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  you will be reading soon

This week was spent partly on vacation and partly at home – luckily, the weather here at home is quite nice, sunny and still warm so I don’t feel too cold now that real life is back to being, you know… real again. I was quite good this week, too, a couple of pre-orders, one blogtour ARC and one Netgalley ARC. And they are all books I am really looking forward to reading!

STS 48 - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Netgalley ARCs:

He's So Fine cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsHe’s So Fine (Lucky Harbor #11) – Jill Shalvis

For Olivia Bentley, Lucky Harbor is more than the town where she runs her new vintage shop. It’s the place where folks are friendly to strangers-and nobody knows her real name. Olivia does a good job of keeping her past buried, not getting too cozy with anyone . . . until she sees a man drowning. Suddenly she’s rushing into the surf, getting up close and personal with the hottest guy she’s ever laid hands on.
Charter boat captain Cole Donovan has no problem with a gorgeous woman throwing her arms around his neck in an effort to “save” him. In fact, he’d like to spend a lot more time skin-to-skin with Olivia. He’s just not expecting that real trouble is about to come her way. Will it bring her deeper into Cole’s heart, or will it be the end of Olivia’s days in little Lucky Harbor?

Son of No One cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsSon of No One (Hellchaser #6, Dark Hunter #14) – Sherrilyn Kenyon

It’s not easy being life’s own personal joke, but Josette Landry has made an unstable peace with the beast. Life will continue to throw every bad thing it has at her, and she will continue to not put her head in an oven. But that’s okay. That which doesn’t kill her will just require a few hours of mental insanity. Completely down on her luck, Josette takes a job with a local paranormal group trying to get their own cable show as a photographer and camerawoman. Yeah, they’re even crazier than she is. The only paranormal thing she believes in is the miracle that keeps her rusted out hoopty running. But when her group accidentally releases something truly evil into the world, they are forced to call in reinforcement.
From the moment Josette meets Cadegan, she knows something about him isn’t quite right. And it’s not just because she can’t even begin to pronounce his last name: Maboddimun. Mysterious and armed with lethal sarcasm, he seems a lot older than his apparent age…
Centuries ago, Cadegan sold his soul for vengeance against the betrayer who cursed him. Forced against his will to do good, he hates everything in life. All he wants is a way out. But for the damned there is only eternal suffering. And yet there is something about Josette that intrigues him as much as it irritates and frustrates him. Something he can’t seem to fight, and the last time he felt this way about a woman, it cost him his soul.
He knows he has to stay away from her, but the evil her friends unleashed is hellbent on consuming her soul. Something he cannot allow. If one more innocent is taken, he will be sent back to an unimaginable prison that makes his current hell look like paradise. But how can he keep her safe when his being with her is the greatest threat of all?

In Her Wake cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews
In Her Wake (Ten Tiny Breaths #0.5) – K.A. Tucker

Before you knew him as Trent in Ten Tiny Breaths, he was Cole Reynolds—and he had it all. Until one night when he makes a fatal, wrong decision…and loses everything.
When a drunken night out at a Michigan State college party results in the death of six people, Cole must come to terms with his part in the tragedy. Normally, he’d be able to lean on his best friends—the ones who have been in his life since he could barely walk. Only, they’re gone. Worse, there’s the shattered body of a sixteen-year-old girl lying somewhere in a hospital bed, her entire life ripped from her because of a case of beer and a set of keys.
Everyone assures him that they know it wasn’t intentional, and yet he can’t ignore the weight of their gazes, the whispers behind his back. Nor can he shake the all-consuming guilt he feels every time he thinks of that girl who won’t so much as allow him near her hospital room to apologize. As the months go by and the shame and loneliness festers, Cole begins to lose his grip on what once was important—college, his girlfriend, his future. His life. It’s not until Cole hits rock-bottom that he can begin to see another way out of his personal hell: forgiveness.
And there’s only one person who can give that to him…

Blogtour ARCs:
Outing the Quarterback cover - (un)Conventional Bookviews

Outing the Quarterback (Long Pass Chronicles #1) – Tara Lain

Will Ashford lives in two closets. He meets his wealthy father’s goals as both the quarterback for the famous SCU football team and a business major, but secretly he attends art school and longs to live as a painter. And he’s gay. But if he can win the coveted Milton Scholarship for art, he’ll be able to break from his father at the end of his senior year.
In a painting master class, Will meets his divergent opposite, Noah Zajack. A scarred orphan who’s slept on park benches and eaten from trash cans, Noah carefully plans his life and multiple jobs so he has money and time to go to art school. Will’s problems seem like nothing compared to Noah’s. Noah wants the scholarship too and may have a way to get it since the teacher of his class has designs on him, a plan Will isn’t happy about.
When a gossipmonger with a popular YouTube channel finds evidence that Will is gay, the quarterback’s closet doors begin to crumble. Hounded by the press and harassed by other players, Will has to choose. Stay in the closet and keep his family’s wealth, or let the doors fall off and walk out with nothing. Nothing but Noah.

  1. Marilyn

Nice haul. I have yet to start the Ten Tiny Breaths series.
Glad you’re having some sunny weather. We are just heading into spring and I’m looking forward to a few sunny days myself.
    Happy weekend, Lexxie.

My STS @ Marilyn’s Mystery Blog

    • I love KA Tucker’s books, Marilyn, even if they leave me with my heart ripped out, at least for parts of the story…
I hope both spring and summer will be very pleasant!
      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • Oh, Grace, you really, really should! It’s so good, and so heart-breaking, and so beautiful all at the same time.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Have a great weekend.

  2. Melanie (YA Midnight Reads)

Ooh I hope you enjoy those books! I hope In her Wake is satisfying because I head that TTB was really good.

Have a great week, Lexxie <33

  3. Very nice! It’s always fun to have ARCs of those reads you really want to read! That pretty much describes all my ARCs! Happy Reading!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT day!

    • I agree, Jessica, I only request ARCs I really want to read, and this time I had two pre-orders I have been salivating over as well 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • Oh, you’re definitely not the only one, but I’ve really worked hard on adding less books these past few weeks. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • KA Tucker is amazing, Janina. I have all her books on pre-order now, I love her writing so much!
      thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • I love the Lucky Harbour series, Elen, it is cute and fun, and by now, I feel like I know everybody who is a part of the community 🙂
Outing the Quarterback was amazing, I loved it.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  4. You got In Her Wake. Saw it on NG but stopped myself from picking it up. I am not so sure whether my heart is ready to be broken again by Trent’s story. Bwahahahaha. Ten Tiny Breaths was my most favorite Tucker book and I really cried so hard about Trent and Kacey’s journey to self-healing. T_T

And I’ve seen two or three Jill Shavis books on NG but apprehensive on requesting them because I haven’t tried any of her books. He’s So Fine sounds good though especially that I am a sucker for romance stories set in small towns. 😀

Have fun reading all your pretties!
