STS #135 – Bought Borrowed & Bagged #85
Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about the latest additions to your library – virtual or actual, with books that are bought, borrowed, won or ARCs you will be reading soon. Bought Borrowed and Bagged is a homage to to Barron’s Books and Baubles from KMM’ Fever series, and is hosted by Braine over at Talk Supe. Without further ado, here’s what I bought, borrowed or bagged this past week:
The Bourbon Thief by Tiffany Reisz – thank you MIRA and Netgalley!
When Cooper McQueen wakes up from a night with a beautiful stranger, it’s to discover he’s been robbed. The only item stolen—a million-dollar bottle of bourbon. The thief, a mysterious woman named Paris, claims the bottle is rightfully hers. After all, the label itself says it’s property of the Maddox family who owned and operated Red Thread Bourbon distillery since the last days of the Civil War until the company went out of business for reasons no one knows… No one except Paris.
In the small hours of a Louisville morning, Paris unspools the lurid tale of Tamara Maddox, heiress to the distillery that became an empire. But the family tree is rooted in tainted soil and has borne rotten fruit. Theirs is a legacy of wealth and power, but also of lies, secrets and sins of omission. The Maddoxes have bourbon in their blood—and blood in their bourbon. Why Paris wants the bottle of Red Thread remains a secret until the truth of her identity is at last revealed, and the century-old vengeance Tamara vowed against her family can finally be completed.
Brandee, I promise I had requested these books before BEA!! I have only sent in reviews on Netgalley since I got back – no new requests!!
Did you get some exciting-looking books this week? Remember to leave me your link so I can check out your Stacking the Shelves and or Bought, Borrowed and Bagged post, too 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! Have a spectacular Saturday.
Haha, funny comment about Net Galley. I try so hard to resist. I gave in and requested one today.
The Bourbon Thief does look worth the guilt of another one for the stack. Haha!
LOL Sophia Rose. I got so many books at BEA, which is why Brandee and I promised each other we wouldn’t request any new books for a long time after we got back 🙂
I can’t wait to read The Bourbon Thief – I am very curious about what Reisz is up to with this story 😀

You are doing better than me then….lol. 🙂
Yeah, I have so many books from BEA, I really do need to stay away from Netgalley and everywhere else!
And you’re doing way better than me! I’m out of control at the moment! Have a good reading week!
Well… you did see my haul last week, right? I just need to enjoy what I have now, and try my best not to add anything else for a long while 🙂
I am trying hard not to even go and look at NetGalley until I get my pile under control. Enjoy your new book, Lexxie!
I know exactly how you feel, Carole! I had requested this one a while back, and so, when I was accepted, I did have to send it to my kindle. I can’t wait to read it 🙂

This is another one that I wanted to request, but stopped myself. I’m trying to clear a lot of books, both physical and ebook, off my TBR. Hope you love it!
I am trying to clear lots of books, too, Lekeisha… The Bourbon King had been on my wish-list since I first heard of it, though, and I requested it as soon as it appeared on Netgalley 😀
That’s a new to me one! Yay for the small haul too!! After BEA and any other bookish trip really, it’s always nice to have a week with just 1 book! It’s the perfect amount! 😀
Hope you enjoy your new read!
My STS will be up tomorrow, stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower 🙂
That’s exactly how I feel, too, Jessica! I’m very happy there’s only one new addition to my shelf, as I truly have more than enough books to read 😀

I only got one book this week too, and it was also something I requested prior to BEA. That looks really good btw. Enjoy!
I love that we’re very careful not to add too many books to our shelves right now, Karen 🙂 I absolutely loved Reisz’ Original Sinners series, and I’m very curious about this new story of hers!
That book I want on my tbr! Sounds so promising and I love the cover. Happy reading.
best wishes
Vi @Gone With The Books
It does sound good 🙂 And I really look forward to reading it, Vi 🙂
This one is new to me, but I hope you enjoy it. Good luck working your way through the BEA stack. I’m finishing my library book today and then plan on starting my first BEA read. Happy reading this week!
My STS: http://jacquesbooknook.blogspot.com/2016/05/stacking-shelves-scorch-trials-and.html
Thanks, Jacque 🙂 Which is the first one from BEA you want to read?
I hope you love all your new book. The week after BEA is always one that you need a small haul.
Grace @ Books of Love
You are right, Grace 🙂 I’m very happy I was able to abstain like this!

It’s so rare to see only one book in your STS hahaha you usually have a bunch! But I’m proud of you for abstaining from requesting 😀
I know, right? I’m proud of me, too, Gen 😉
This actually sounds really good! Enjoy and happy reading!
I agree, Jamie… I can’t wait to get started!
Bourbon Thief sounds great… and hey, bourbon always catches my eye – haha. Maybe I will look for that one.
Ha! I love Reisz, Barb, so I really look forward to reading this one 🙂
First up will be 738 Days by Stacey Kade. The release date is June 7th and I would like to have my review posted by then. After that I’m reading Last Seen Leaving by Caleb Roehrig because he was really nice and hilarious at the Fierce Reads blogger event.
Nice! I didn’t get either of those, but like you, I did get some books because the authors were so amazing when I saw them speaking 🙂
I love the look and sound of this book…thanks for sharing, and enjoy!
Thanks, Laurel-Rain 🙂
I’m trying to catch up on my reading before ALA in June so not too many books for me either.
My Stacking the Shelves
Oh my… I love going to events and filling my shelves, but afterwards, I also feel like I kind of ‘have to’ be more careful 🙂
hahahahaha!!! I made no such silly promises!!! Y’all are just crazy, loco 🙂 Smart, but crazy!
LOL Kristin! I can ACTUALLY hear you laughing right now! And I love that. Of course I’m loco – you already knew that now that you’ve met me, no? :p
I have a book by this author but I still need to try it. happy reading
I hope you’ll enjoy it, Melliane 🙂
I don’t know the book but it looks great! I wish I could have gone to BEA but maybe next year! I hope you had fun and enjoy all the books you got 🙂
I love Reisz so much! I can’t wait to find out what this book is going to be like 🙂
That sounds really interesting! I’m trying not to request on Netgalley as well because I have quite a few ARCs from them that I still need to read.
Enjoy your new book!

My Book Haul!
I love getting ARCs, but too much of a good thing is still too much 🙂

I am addicted to NetGalley lately and wishing so badly that I had been able to go to BEA. I used up most of my time off on maternity leave, however, so there’s always next year 🙂 That book looks kinda interesting. I look forward to seeing what you think of it 🙂 Happy reading!
Maternity leave is important, Megan! Much more so than BEA 🙂 I hope you’ll be able to go one year 🙂

Ah yes, TReisz is EVERYTHING!
I agree, Braine! EVERYTHING!! 😀
I’m keen to see what you think of The Bourbon Thief … I’ve loved Reisz’s work in the past.
I can’t wait to delve in, Naomi 🙂
Your comment there made me LOL! I hope you love this one Lexxie^^ happy reading and have a great week 😀
Ha! I have to show Brandee that I’m keeping my promise, you know 🙂
Oooh this sounds lovely, I bet you’re really glad for getting approved for it 🙂 Enjoy it!!
Also thank you for stopping by, can’t believe that we’ve had so many books in common recently. I hope Shatter Me is good, I’ve yet to pick it up
I’m very happy I got approved for this – I love Reisz!! I enjoyed Shatter Me – I hope you will, too, Lauren 🙂
ROFLMAO!!!!!! Oh my goodness, Lexxie! I’m laughing so hard I’m crying!!! I admit that I was already thinking we were going to have words over you requesting something from Netgalley….I’m so happy to know you kept your promise to me, darling. <3 And I can't wait to see what you think of Reisz's new endeavor.
**BIG HUGS**
Haha 🙂 I’m glad I could get you to really laugh out loud with that, Brandee 😀 And I knew you would say something about me getting a book from Netgalley after we talked about this in Chicago 😀 *BIG HUGS* <3
The Bourbon Thief is one we have in common! In fact, I’ve already started it and read the first 15%. It’s a pretty interesting story.
