Safe and Sexy
Thinking of my romances and safe sex at the same time started when Lexxie wrote her discussion post with the same name a long time ago! Not too long after, the idea of sharing quotes about that ensured that the feature Safe and Sexy was born. It’s where I will share a quote from a story I have read, and where there is a lot of hotness and sexiness, but where they still take the time to be safe! It’s important to me to read books that make me dream, but I also want them to be somewhat realistic. And to me, characters seem realistic when they take care of themselves and their partner(s)! Safe sex is a great way to do so, and when an author includes a couple of lines to share that they are indeed using condoms, I am such a happy reader. And I think it’s sexy when both new and ‘old’ lovers show that they respect each other by getting that condom, and possibly making using it both safe and sexy, hot and fun.
If you want to participate with your very own Safe and Sexy quotes, go right ahead. The more the merrier, and maybe your quote will help me add a new book to my bloated TBR shelf 😉 One can never have enough books, right? Without further ado, here’s my Safe and Sexy quote for this week from Devney Perry’s Tattered.
My Safe and Sexy quote:
After yanking out a condom, the rest was tossed to the floor. His eyes locked with mine, capturing me completely, as he brought the foil packet up to my mouth. He placed it between my teeth and I bit down, holding it tight as he used my teeth to rip it open. That was new.I loved it.He rolled the condom onto his hard cock, never once breaking my stare, even as he toed off his shoes and kicked his jeans loose. In one swift movement, he had me pinned against the door, my thighs around his hips, his hands under my knees and his cock buried deep.
Safe and Sexy Link-up:
Thanks for stopping by today. Don’t forget to include your Safe & Sexy post in the linky. Have a fantastic Friday and happy reading.
I have to say, it never really bugs me when the whole condom thing doesn’t come into play in a big way in the book but then I read a lot of paranormal, dark, and historical romance soooooo that often isn’t an issue in those books lol. However when I do run across a little bit about condoms I either enjoy it or hate it. I more like it in scenes like the quote you used where it’s just part of the action of a hot scene, however I have also read some books where it’s more getting incorporated into dialogue that turned out unrealistic and more like one of those weird highschool classes that tries to hammer in the importance of them. Very cool and unique meme though, I really like seeing things like this in blogs.
I don’t want it to be forced, that’s for sure! But I really do think that being safe is sexy – and that’s something Brandee showed with the quote she chose, right?
I agree that in PNR or Historical romances, it’s not important – because it’s not really something that can be included in a way that doesn’t take us out of the story we’re reading…
Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Well now that you say it it does bother me when they have unprotected sex and they don’t know each other for that long. Considering young adults read these books it’s wise to set an example!
I agree, safe sex is important, and I think it’s realistic, and sends an important message when authors include it in there books! Safe sex is sexy!
I’m still hoping this meme will take off, Lindy! For all this time, it’s been almost only me and Brandee – but I do think it’s important. And I definitely think it’s sexy when the partners (especially new partners!) manage to take a second or two to think about being safe while still being really hot!
