Review: Unspoken (The Lynburn Legacy #1) – Sarah Rees Brennan

Review: Unspoken (The Lynburn Legacy #1) – Sarah Rees Brennan

Unspoken is a book I actually have a lot of trouble rating and reviewing. On one hand, I love the author, her sense of humor and her writing. On the other hand, I had a very hard time connecting with any of the characters here, even though they all had both positive and negative character traits. Review: When Lightning Strikes (Whiskey Creek #1) – Brenda Novak

When Lightning Strikes is book 1 of the Whiskey Creek series, and I have already read the prequel – and I loved that, too! Review: Iron’s Prophecy (The Iron Fey #4.5) – Julie Kagawa

Review: Iron’s Prophecy (The Iron Fey #4.5) – Julie Kagawa

Iron’s Prophecy probably would have gotten 5 stars from me if I had read this before I read The Lost Prince. I just needed some more Iron Fey, and I loved the interactions between Ash and Meghan, and Puck was his usual self – smirking and joking even in serious situations. And there were some glimpses of Mab, Oberon and Tatiania as well – which was nice – because Meghan could show her ‘regal-ness’ when dealing with them. She showed that she is not afraid of either of them, and that yes, she is indeed the Iron Queen. I loved how Meghan and Ash interacted! They just seemed so much in love, and their friendship and respect for each other […]

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna #1) – Kendare Blake

Anna Dressed in Blood (Anna #1) – Kendare Blake

My goodness, what a creepy, startingly beautiful, but scary tale Anna Dressed in Blood is! With amazing attention to details, Ms. Blake made me live through this whole tome with bated breath. There were some truly horrendous scenes, but they were there for a good reason, and the plot never took anything away from the story, or the characters. Cas is a young man with a tremendous job to do, and for the first time in his life, he gets friends, and falls in love. There is both a contemporary mystery, where Cas has to find the ghost Anna, and make sure she stops hurting people, and an older mystery, surrounding the death of Cas’ father. Even if he has […]

Time Untime (Dark Hunter #22) – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Time Untime (Dark Hunter #22) – Sherrilyn Kenyon

Time Untime – book 22 in one of my favorite series was quite different from the rest of the books in some ways, and very similar in others. The biggest difference for me was that I didn’t really love Ren all that much 🙁 I get that his extremely long life has been difficult, and that he has never known love, but the self-loathing was really hard to read about, and made it less enjoyable to read than I would have liked.  I totally loved Kateri, though, and both Ash and Nick showed up to save the day, and I love both of them as well, so there were lots of things to like in this instalment, even if there […]

Biting Cold (Chicagoland Vampires #6) – Chloe Neill

Biting Cold (Chicagoland Vampires #6) – Chloe Neill

This review contains spoilers from books 4 and 5 in the series, so if you haven’t read those yet, you should probably stop reading right now… Biting Cold is about redemption. For Mallory, for Ethan, for Merit and for Seth. I had a little trouble getting into the world of Chicagoland again, after having been quite disappointed with the two prior books. I was devastated at the end of book 4, when Ethan died. And I was not happy with the way he was brought back from the dead at the end of book 5. Biting Cold started with Ethan and Merit chasing after the Maleficius, and a fight with Seth on the way to were it was hidden. The […]

City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) – Cassandra Clare

City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) – Cassandra Clare

There are spoilers in this review, so beware if you haven’t read City of Lost Souls yet… And even if I was very frustrated with this book, the TMI series is still among my favorite series. City of Lost Souls really did not impress me.  The writing is not very fluid, and some repetitions are really irking me!  Also, quite a few characters are not at all acting the way I would expect them to. Review: Shadow Bound (Unbound #2) – Rachel Vincent

Review: Shadow Bound (Unbound #2) – Rachel Vincent

Shadow Bound really built on the Blood Bound’s story, and the character development Kori went through was quite amazing. Of course, she was only a side character in the first book, and here, she was the heroine, but it was still easy to see how she changed, and how she became completely willing to fight for what she thought was right.   Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email. Review: The Golden Lily (Bloodlines #2) – Richelle Mead

Review: The Golden Lily (Bloodlines #2) – Richelle Mead

The Golden Lily actually surprised me in a very good way! I was a little cautious before I started it, because I had heard rumors of a love triangle, and I hate love triangles in my books. I wish I hadn’t listened to those rumors, because I would have read this long before I actually did. Sydney continues to be herself in this story, and at the same time, she lets herself grow as well, even when what she wants to do seems to be against her Alchemist beliefs. She takes a stand, and decides that she needs to be able to protect herself if she is to protect others as well. Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your email […]

Review: Team Human – Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan

Review: Team Human – Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan

Team Human did have a few things going for it, but I didn’t connect that much with the MC, Mel was acting like a spoiled brat for a lot of it, and she thought she was helping her friends, but really, she was looking out for number one. I really liked Cathy, even if we didn’t get to know her all that well, since everything that happened was seen through Mel’s eyes. However, Cathy seemed like a serious, old soul who would rather have lived in the 18th century as a noble than in 2012 being a teenager having to attend high school. I could completely understand her attraction to Francis, and maybe that is what made it so hard […]
