Review: Playing for Keeps – Jill Shalvis

Review: Playing for Keeps – Jill Shalvis

Playing for Keeps just might be my favorite Heartbreaker Bay story! I loved Sadie and Caleb so much. And Lollipop was the best rescue puppy ever! Playing for Keeps just worked so very well for me! Sadie and Caleb both wanted nothing to do with a relationship. And they kind of worked the best using sarcasm towards each other. Until that evening when Caleb found an abandoned, three legged dog in the courtyard. And they somehow ended up co-adopting her. Caleb had been a bit of a mystery up until now, as he was a little on the outskirt of the friend group. In Playing for Keeps, however, he showed just what kind of a man he was. He’s a […]

Review: Chasing Christmas Eve – Jill Shalvis

Review: Chasing Christmas Eve – Jill Shalvis

Chasing Christmas Eve was a nice story, back with the gang in Heartbreaker Bay. Colbie and Spence were fun, even if they both thought they sucked at love! Story: Chasing Christmas Eve includes a main character who’s an author, and  I love those kinds of stories. Possibly because I love reading. And getting a peek into how an author might feel when the pressure is high just makes me feel very strongly for all of them. Shalvis managed to bring all her characters to life, and I really had a good time with them all. Colbie and Spence’s first meeting was humorous, because Spence had gone out to have a break from work. And he did so by walking one […]

Review: Holiday Wishes – Jill Shalvis

Review: Holiday Wishes – Jill Shalvis

Holiday Wishes was a sweet, tender novella in one of my favorite Shalvis series, and I loved to see this more mature side of Sean. Story: While Holiday Wishes is a quite short story, the feel of the Heartbreaker Bay gang is very much present. The group of friends and family are away for a weekend of bachelor and bachelorette party for Pru and Finn. All organized by Sean, to the amazement of everyone. He has planned everything down to the smallest detail. Apart from the fact that his very first girlfriend, the one he let get away, is the innkeeper. The easy banter between the characters, as well as their strong ties always makes Heartbreaker Bay the place to […]

Review: Accidentally on Purpose – Jill Shalvis

Review: Accidentally on Purpose – Jill Shalvis

Accidentally on Purpose continues in the same vein as the prior Heartbreaker Bay books, and the romance made me melt into a puddle. This series is filled with feel-good romance, great friendships and off the chart chemistry! Accidentally on Purpose is sweet, quirky, hot and funny, I had a really good time getting to know Elle and Archer better. It was apparent in the prior books that they were reluctantly attracted to each other, and that they were both holding back. Understanding why was very nice, and seeing behind Elle’s close to perfect façade made me like her even more. A go-getter and caregiver, Elle is always there for her friends, giving advice, helping out, working hard… But she doesn’t […]

Review: One Snowy Night – Jill Shalvis

Review: One Snowy Night – Jill Shalvis

One Snowy Night is a short novella in the Heartbreaker Bay series, featuring Rory and Max, and there is hotness, romance, cold, ice and doubts from a past event coming to the surface. While I enjoyed One Snowy Night, I was sad it was so short, as I think Rory and Max could hold up a full length novel with their story. And because it was short, only the span of a night and morning, and it was spent on the road, I missed all their friends! One of the things I love the most in a Shalvis story is the amazing friendships and funny banter. It was clear in the prior Heartbreaker Bay novels that Max and Rory had […]

Review: The Trouble With Mistletoe – Jill Shalvis

Review: The Trouble With Mistletoe – Jill Shalvis

The Trouble with Mistletoe was a great story, with characters who already feel like close friends of mine, and a romance that made me blush. Friendship, romance, blast from the past and pet-goodness… What’s not to love, right? The Trouble with Mistletoe managed to mix romance, hotness and sweetness to a near perfect mix, and I really enjoyed the characters, both the new ones, and those I already met in Sweet Little Lies. Willa felt slighted ever since her teenage years because of Keane, but never once had she tried to see things from his perspective. I loved how he tried to make friends with his great-aunt’s cat, and how that same cat brought him back into Willa’s orbit. A […]

Review: Sweet Little Lies – Jill Shalvis

Review: Sweet Little Lies – Jill Shalvis

Sweet Little Lies is a fantastic start to Shalvis’ new series. There is romance galore, as well as friendship, humor and loyalty as well. As soon as I started reading Sweet Little Lies, I knew I was going to fall in love with it! First of all, the romantic interest’s name is Finn *sighs* and he owns an Irish bar *double-sighs* and he’s loyal to a fault, strong and hardworking. Plus, he’s very easy on the eyes. The way Pru described him to me showed me I was going to love her as well. She’s been through a lot, none of it her won fault, and because she’s felt so much guilt over her parents’ mistakes, she’s made it her […]
