ARC Review ~ Seduced by Second Chances ~ Reese Ryan (@ReeseRyanWrites)

ARC Review ~ Seduced by Second Chances ~ Reese Ryan (@ReeseRyanWrites)

Seduced by Second Chances was the best of the series so far! Jessie and Gideon’s story was compelling and RRyan’s continuation of Teresa and Liam’s story had me rooting for them rather than wanting to bang my head against a wall. RRyan is a new-to-me author and I enjoyed her storytelling so much I one-clicked a few titles from her back list. 😉 Highlights Characters Yay for diversity! Jessie and Gideon knew each other as teens. See, he dated Jessie’s older sister. But Jessie always harbored a strong crush. But even when there was nothing in their way, there was something in their way. All these years later, they haven’t been able to forget one another. Cheers to second chances! […]

ARC Review ~ Butterfly in Frost ~ Sylvia Day #Giveaway

ARC Review ~ Butterfly in Frost ~ Sylvia Day #Giveaway

I was thrilled to see SDay was releasing something new and Butterfly in Frost didn’t disappoint. It was riveting and emotional and surprising as well. SDay demonstrated her writing prowess, solidifying her spot as one of my favorite authors. When we meet Teagan we can see she’s suffering but we’re not privy to all the details. She’s made a fresh start in Seattle, has new friends and new routines. However, when she meets Garrett, he turns her newly ordered world on its head and it seems he’s exactly what Teagan needed. Garrett is also struggling emotionally…and professionally. Meeting Teagan injects the hope and passion his life seemed to be lacking. As we witness Garrett and Teagan get acquainted and see […]

ARC Review: The Summer We Lost Her – Tish Cohen

ARC Review: The Summer We Lost Her – Tish Cohen

The Summer We Lost Her is a slow-paced mystery where a young girl disappears without trace from the front of a summer house. Especially the beginning of The Summer We Lost Her is very slow. I was wondering when something would happen, while also getting to know Matt and Elise and Gracie. Between the fact that Elise was a top athlete, and Matt the main caretaker for Gracie, it was clear that the usual gender roles were not part of this family’s dynamics. The Summer We Lost Her switches between the present and various flashbacks. The narrator is 3rd person omniscient, with the closest perspective being Elise’s. I enjoyed learning about Elise and Matt, how they had come to terms […]

ARC Review: Sidelined – Suzanne Baltzar

ARC Review: Sidelined – Suzanne Baltzar

Sidelined is about an unconventional woman, who finally gets the job she wants. Only to be met by scepticism from the men already in place. It was great reading about a female high school football coach. All the challenges Charlie faced in Sidelined are challenges women often face, too. Charlie was happy to finally be head coach, but the reception she got form her team was even colder than she had imagined. Connor wanted the job, and truly felt he deserved the job. He tried to tell himself that he didn’t hate Charlie because she was a woman, but because she had ‘stolen’ his dream job. As Sidelined continued, it was clear that Charlie was more than capable. She turned […]

ARC Review: Sapphire Flames – Ilona Andrews

ARC Review: Sapphire Flames – Ilona Andrews

Sapphire Flames brings all the magic, the fights, the intrigue, the romance, and the tension I have gotten used to with the Hidden Legacy series! While I would have loved more Nevada and Rogan, I have to say Sapphire Flames still blew me away. Catalina is definitely a worthy heroine, and I loved how she wanted to take care of things herself. Just so that Nevada and Rogan could have a little alone time. The way the Houses tried to move in on her, and take her out made for a lot of action. In Sapphire Flames, I loved how Alessandro tried to find more with Catalina. She resisted all his advances, though, because she knew that people found themselves […]

ARC Review ~ For His Pleasure ~ Shelly Bell

ARC Review ~ For His Pleasure ~ Shelly Bell

For His Pleasure was riveting, immediately pulling me into the the story, and it kept me engaged to the end. SBell writes suspenseful and HOT stories populated by fascinating characters and this one did not disappoint. Highlights: Characters Dreama and Cash were a forbidden match made in heaven. They’d both experienced tragic events and came out the other side stronger. Especially Dreama because despite her perceived weakness, she was one of the strongest women – always willing to fight for what is right. Cash was one of those guys who protects those he loves and would do bodily harm to anyone who hurts a woman. Noble. That’s a big commonality between Dreama and Cash. They’re both noble. And I adored […]

ARC Review: The Seduction Expert – Saya Lopez Ortega

ARC Review: The Seduction Expert – Saya Lopez Ortega

The Seduction Expert is a very strange book. There’s no real story here – but the main character could have been interesting – if she had a personality. I don’t even begin to know what to say about The Seduction Expert, it kind of feels like I said everything in my first sentence. There really is nothing going on, just a long stream of consciousness from ‘The Baroness’. Whose real name was never shared – not that I really cared or wanted to know, but that was another strange thing. Also, the summary is nothing at all like the actual story of The Seduction Expert, which is too bad. That is rather enticing, and could have been a good tale […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Jesse ~ JA Huss

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ Jesse ~ JA Huss

Man! I don’t know how Huss does it, wifey! Jesse seemed like it was going to be a good, old-fashioned, contemporary romance with some revenge humor and second-chances rolled in. Then it became something else. Something more. And I absolutely enjoyed the ride! I loved all of these things, too, wifey! I just found it to be a twist between romcom and romantic suspense, and I adored it. So funny. Right off the bat, I fell for Jesse. Yes, he’s a bit arrogant but you could see his vulnerability underneath that facade. That endeared him to me. Your first impressions? I did, too. The way he wanted to not be seen as the ‘asshole’ brother, and not understanding why he […]

Review: Consume Me – Geneva Lee

Review: Consume Me – Geneva Lee

Consume Me blew me away! I enjoyed the first two books in Royal World, but this one was really top notch. In Consume Me, I felt like both Alexander and Clara grew a lot, and there were several good reasons for that. The intrigue was thicker, the betrayals cut deeper, and the ones who could help helped even more than was expected of them. The political part of Consume Me also appeared more realistic to me, especially with a secret society there to make or break the king. Plus, Alexander finally had to face not only his fears, but his past as well, and that’s something he needed to do. The suspense and the mystery in Consume me was very […]

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ High Tide ~ Michelle Mankin

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ High Tide ~ Michelle Mankin

Oh my! High Tide was akin to a roller coaster ride. It started kinda slowly, making its way around those warm-up curves and dips. Things changed once we hit that big hill, building tension and anxiety. Once we went over? Well all I can say is you better hang on! There is so much I want to say about High Tide but can’t because it would spoil the story. And this is one to be experienced, I think. It definitely is a story to be experienced, and it’s going to be hard to chat about this one and still keep everyone reading our review from being spoiled… but we’ll manage, I’m sure 😉  As I said, things started off a […]
