Review: The Dirty Book Club – Lisi Harrison

Review: The Dirty Book Club – Lisi Harrison

The Dirty Book Club is all about female friendships and empowerment, and how books may be the way to both! Story: M.J. thought she had it all, but living her life not fully knowing what she wanted didn’t make her happy The Dirty Book Club changed all that. At first, she had some awkward interactions with some of the women her own age, but she felt like people in LA were so very different from the New Yorkers she was used to. The Dirty Book Club followed both M.J. and her new friends and Gloria and her friends. Quite a bit of the story happened in the past, when Gloria and her friends were younger. They were rather open-minded, and […]

Review: Hello Again – Brenda Novak

Review: Hello Again – Brenda Novak

Hello Again was so eery, I felt the suspense during the whole story, and it just seems impossible to me that Evelyn will make it through the end. There is more than one enemy now, and my goodness, the ending left me speechless and breathless. Story: The suspense and the psychological thriller aspects were even stronger in Hello Again. Evelyn has more than one person she needs to be wary of, and her newest inmate is so smart and vengeful. He’s at least as scary as Justin. Several things happen to bring more heat to Justin’s revenge, and on top of that, there are murders that seem different from his MO, but could still be by him. Amarok and Evelyn’s […]

Review: Archangel’s Viper – Nalini Singh

Review: Archangel’s Viper – Nalini Singh

Archangel’s Viper was a whirlwind of plot, action and feels! Fast paced, with a lot at stake, I was taken for a trip I won’t soon forget. Story: Archangel’s Viper is about Holly and Venom, and the attraction between them. It’s also about the voice Holly hears in her mind, and how she’s grown extremely strong and fast in a short time. She needs discipline, which Venom has in spades. But she needs more than being a fighter, too. Venom and Holly go on a dangerous trip to figure out what is happening to her, and not one, but two Archangels are needed to deal with some of the things that come up on that trip. I loved getting to […]

Review: Five – J.A. Huss

Review: Five – J.A. Huss

Five blew my mind. It’s a story I’ve been waiting for since forever, and Huss definitely didn’t disappoint. Story: Princess Shrike was all ready to move on with her life. With no news from five in the past six years, she figured she should just do her thing. Date. Make new friends. Vacation in the Hamptons. Until her brother Ollie sends her a message saying she has to come home. Because Five is home. There was a lot of intrigue in Five. And a lot of heartache. And quite a bit of sadness. Of course, I also got Huss’ spectacular snark. And her hotness. Plus love – Five was also filled with beautiful love. Of course, there are also secret […]

Review: Romancing the Rogue – Erica Ridley

Review: Romancing the Rogue – Erica Ridley

Romancing the Rogue hit all the right spots, and I loved the forbidding castle in which Rebecca felt so at home. Story: Rebecca has been living hidden in a huge gothic castle ever since her parents passed away. Now, her uncle had passed away as well. And she was being sent on her way by the relation who inherited the castle. When she hears that Daniel is coming for the reading of the will, all kinds of memories assail her. He was the young man who humiliated her more than once in the past. And at the same time, she loved him very much. Once Daniel arrives, Rebecca wants to continue to hide, but he has other plans. When he […]

Review: Wicked Bite – Rebecca Zanetti

Review: Wicked Bite – Rebecca Zanetti

Wicked Bite packed an even bigger punch than the four prior books in the Realm Enforcers series! Action, fights and betrayal that made my head spin. Story: I was happy to get a book where Nessa and Bear were the main characters, but I hadn’t really counted on Nessa actually going undercover. She seemed young and a bit inexperienced in the prior book, but she was very far from it. Bear was still suffering from changing too many times in the prior story, and it appeared as if his life might be in danger. There chemistry between Nessa and Bear was very strong. But neither of them really trusted the other. Wicked Bite involved a lot of the plot that […]

Review: The Captain’s Bluestocking Mistress – Erica Ridley

Review: The Captain’s Bluestocking Mistress – Erica Ridley

The Captain’s Bluestocking Mistress was a fun read, where the heroine used everything she could to try to seduce the good captain… who would do anything in his power not to ruin her Story: I don’t even know where to start! I loved how Jane knew what she wanted, and that she did what she could to get it! At the perils of her being eligible for marriage, even. The Captain’s Bluestocking Mistress brought both romance and humor, and a very unconventional heroine I loved to get to know. And I can’t forget that darned cat, who both made things more difficult for Jane, and at times somehow better. Ridley’s Dukes of War series is so good, the heroines are […]

Review: Blood and Ink – Stephen Davies

Review: Blood and Ink – Stephen Davies

Blood and Ink mesmerised me! Very well done, mixing actual events and fiction, showing the differences in muslim faiths, how some are stricter than others, and what was done by a people to rise against their oppressors. Story: I was transported by Blood and Ink, through the way it unfolded two sides of a story. How it showed two sides of a war. Two sides of a religion. How good and bad can be blurred, and how difficult it is to change sides once a stance is taken. Because the story is based on true events, I think it was very realistic. Even ficionalised history can be well done, and I found the way everything unfolded to be enlightening. Taking […]

Review: Two Footsteps – Belle Brooks

Review: Two Footsteps – Belle Brooks

Two Footsteps was an excellent psychological thriller / suspense / mystery novella! I was completely captivated (pun intended) from start to finish. Story: A little dark, a lot tense, Two Footsteps definitely kept me at the edge of my seat. Who is the wolf? Why has he kidnapped Morgan? There are many clues around her when she wakes up, but none of them make sense to her. There is quite a bit of confusion, and suddenly, she wakes up outside. She’s hunted. And she has no idea how she’ll be able to get out of the wilderness alive. Characters: Morgan is married to Reid, they have two children. As she wakes up in unfamiliar surroundings, she knows her life is […]

Review: Strings A Love Story – Megan Edwards

Review: Strings A Love Story – Megan Edwards

Strings A Love Story is definitely a love story. Fairly slow paced, and spanning over decades, I enjoyed it very much, which almost surprised me. The Story: Most of the action in Strings was shared with the readers through flashbacks that spanned over decades, from when Ted and Olivia were in high school. And while they always appreciated each other, their timing always sucked. When one of them was free, the other was with someone else. It was like fate was playing a complicated game of chess with these characters, always making one of them too early, or too late. The Characters: Olivia went to the same school as Ted because her mom worked there, and she often felt out […]
