Physical therapist Jessica Hart has learned her lesson: Never date professional athletes. She’s been down that road, and barely recovered after the relationship crashed and burned. Then Jessica meets Gavin King. An All-Star slugger with chiseled good looks, Gavin was traded to the Sonics because he hurt his knee sliding into second, and now his future is in her hands. Gavin’s no bad boy—but he’s tempting enough to make Jessica think twice about all her rules.
Gavin is trying to find a comfortable routine. If he wants his old life back, he must take it easy, stay out of the limelight, and keep his distance from gorgeous redheaded physical therapists. The thing is, Gavin isn’t the kind of guy to sit on his ass and let other people pull his weight. And when he sees something he wants, he can’t help but fight for it, even if it means risking everything, even if it only lasts a single moment: like one kiss from Jessica.
This series keeps getting better with each installment! The Heat of the Moment is fun, sporty, flirty and sexy 🙂
My The Heat of the Moment review:
The Heat of the Moment is my favorite in Rose’s Boys of Summer series, I think it was because even through Jessica’s reluctance to fall for Gavin, I could feel his charm and sincerity just as much as she did. Having been hurt badly in love before, I understood where Jessica came from, even if Gavin was very different from Jessica’s former boyfriend. I enjoyed Gavin a lot, because he had his whole life turned around due to a sports injury, and he was unsure if he’d be able to continue to play professional baseball. Added to that was his model girlfriend who slowly slid away from him and towards the limelight instead of staying by the side of an injured player.
The Heat of the Moment heated up fairly quickly, because even if Jessica was reluctant, she couldn’t deny the incredible chemistry between herself and Gavin. And while she tried to keep her distance, being his physio therapist meant she had to help him strengthen his knee, both with massage and with exercises to get him back into the game.
The plot in The Heat of the Moment is pretty straight forward, but the characters are well worth getting to know, I loved Jessica’s interactions with her family. The strong ties she had with her co-workers, and also the beginning of something strong between her and Gavin. If you’re in the mood for a light-hearted romance that has all the right ingredients to make you sigh with pleasure, this story is for you!
Some of my favorite The Heat of the Moment quotes:
And even though she’d asked about her, something inside of her sank as she pictured his girl: Gorgeous. Blond. Knockout body. Your basic nightmare. It all made sense. He came from Los Angeles. Beautiful women grew on trees out there.
It was only when he pulled away that she felt the breath whoosh out of her, as if someone had stepped on a balloon.
The simmering fire between them had simply blazed out of control. As he turned off the ignition, he wondered at that, how things had gotten from point A to point Z within minutes.
Reading this book contributed to these challenges:
Ooh, ‘having’ to touch him when she’s trying her darnedest to keep her distance AND they have combustible chemistry?? Yeah, I can see how that’d work. 😉 I like the sound of Jessica and Gavin – and you know I’m a character-driven story fan. I’m going to *have* to pick up this series. Perhaps then we can discuss it while watching a baseball game next May?!? 😉 Happy Monday and **BIG HUGS**
Well, yes, since she’s his physiotherapist, she actually did have to touch him :p Their chemistry was completely off the charts, Brandee, and you’d definitely enjoy The Heat of the Moment.
I’d love to discuss this while watching a baseball game next May!
Have a great Monday yourself, my dear. *BIG HUGS*
Oooh this sounds like a lot of fun! Sport tropes are always a great time! Wonderful review I’ll have to put these on my radar!
I love sport romances, Ria, so even if I have no idea how baseball works, I really enjoyed this series 🙂
Nice! I love a good sports romance. I’ll have to add this series, but I might skip to this one if you say it’s the best.
LOL, the others were good, too, Christy, but not as good as this one 🙂
Oh, man, I think I meant to read this one! I love baseball and romance, so there you go!
I don’t think I’ve heard of this series. Sounds really good though. Glad it just keeps getting better.

Sounds like an intense love story, although familiar love story. At least it wasn’t a cliche: hot baller ends up with equally hot model
oh I do love stories like this, and the hero sounds amazing. I love those that are sincere. I definitely will need to add this one to my list. Great review.

I love the sound of the chemistry between Gavin and Jessica. This author is one I have yet to try and if each book is only getting better I think I need to hurry up.
