Review ~ Once Kissed ~ Cecy Robson #COYER

Review ~ Once Kissed ~ Cecy Robson #COYER

Cecy Robson is an author I’ve long wanted to read so I made sure to fit in Once Kissed for COYER’s Recommend Me a Book Read-a-thon. This was a recommendation from Sophia Rose. 🙂 Tessa is a young, brilliant law student. She’s worked hard to get where she is and is counting the days until she’s free of her father’s tyranny. Oh, some might think she’s a spoiled princess whose father foots the bill for her lavish lifestyle. They’d be wrong. She’s essentially a prisoner. Things come to a head when she’s assigned a case working with an ADA. The case is dangerous enough that she’s also assigned police protection. That protection comes in the form of Curran O’Brien – […]

ARC Review: Bishop – Sawyer Bennett

ARC Review: Bishop – Sawyer Bennett

Bishop was amazing! I’m so happy Ms. Bennett is branching out with more hockey-players – and both Bishop and Brooke really did it for me. Story: There’s a little bit of suspense with Brooke’s friend Nanette, and a whole lot of awesome hockey-talk, relationships between the players, and within the organization at large. Of course, the whole hockey setting is partly what I loved about Bishop, however, the characters really did it for me as well! There’s a certain camaraderie among these players, who were let go by their team to start a new team in Arizona. Because Brooke wanted to make sure her father, the coach, wouldn’t be unfair to Bishop, she pretended they were engaged when her father […]

Review: Marek – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Marek – Sawyer Bennett

Marek was a really good second-chance-at-love story, and I really enjoyed getting to know the background for his and Gracen’s break-up. Story: I have to say that in the beginning of the story, Marek acted like a jerk. There really is no other word for it – and while I could totally understand his anger and hurt, he did not try to make things better. Gracen was a real trooper, though, and did her best to take Marek’s anger in stride. And I really enjoyed how present Lilly was to the storyline. It’s not easy to have a hot romance while also including a young child! As Gracen and Marek got to know each other again, it was obvious they […]

Review: Reed – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Reed – Sawyer Bennett

Reed was possibly the best of the Cold Fury Hockey stories… I just loved his and Josie’s relationship, how they were friends first, and then wanted more. Story: The blurb of Reed does not bring the story justice. Reed is such a sensible character, and while he’s been playing the field with his ‘barbies’ until now, he is not a total womanizer. Once he meets his new neighbour, Josie, he realises that his life might not be as full as he thought up until now. I have such a love for friends to lovers stories, and that’s exactly what I got with Reed. At first the two characters were a bit tentative, but little by little they became close friends. […]

Review: To Tame a Wild Lady – Ashlyn Macnamara

Review: To Tame a Wild Lady – Ashlyn Macnamara

To Tame a Wild Lady is Caro’s story, she doesn’t fit within the strict rules of society, and would rather ride her horse than gossip with the ladies. (un)conventionally short: Caro and Adrian weren’t supposed to even meet. Needless to say, they were definitely not supposed to fall in love. To Tame A Wild Lady told a different story, though, and it was delightful! Second in the Duke Defying Daughters series, this story made my toes curl in pleasure. I so love an unconventional lady. Especially when she doesn’t care what society thinks, and just goes after what she wants. And desperately needs. Macnamara managed to make me feel connected to the characters in To Tame a Wild Lady. And […]

Review: Van – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Van – Sawyer Bennett

Van sure had a troubled past that managed to make his present kind of murky as well. But Simone – she was really something, and totally open to tear his walls apart, while also grabbing him out of his shell. Story: These two characters were like water and oil at first, and then, suddenly bam! they were rather like dynamite. Both Van and Simone were strong minded, and they knew what they wanted, or didn’t want as it were. Simone wanted to get to know Van better… much, much better. And he was good with keeping her and everyone else at arm’s length. Little by little, both Simone and Van shed their public persona and shared some of their secrets. […]

Review: Lucas – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Lucas – Sawyer Bennett

Lucas’ story was a bit frustrating at times, both because Stephanie was so closed off, and because it stopped rather abruptly – only to go straight to a kind of epilogue including Van rather than either Lucas or Stephanie. Story: Lucas was a story I had really looked forward to, so it might be that my expectations were a bit high. Cold Fury Hockey is one of my favorite series, and Bennett usually manages to sweep me off my feet immediately. The romance here was quite unconventional, because the two protagonists met at a party and agreed to a no strings hot night of sex. Which was all good and fun until there was a condom malfunction. Stephanie grew up […]

Review: Scored – Sloane Howell

Review: Scored – Sloane Howell

Scored follows a baseball star and a hot indie records store seller, they have met more than once through their best friends, and their chemistry is sizzling hot. Story: Kelsey and Matt showed up in Bossed, and I enjoyed them immensely as side characters. Somehow, I enjoyed them a little less as main characters in Scored. I think it was because both of them kept second-guessing themselves quite a bit, and while I can understand some of that, it also kind of got old. Matt really liked Kelsey from the first time he met her, but he had no idea they had even more in common than what came to light when they were out with Ethan and Jenny. Scored […]

Review: Bossed Sloane Howell

Review: Bossed Sloane Howell

Bossed was a fun story that still brought the feels. Baseball, snark and romance in plenty. I’m not sure why I haven’t read Sloane Howell before… I guess I was a bit surprised about a male author writing romance, and that sounds incredibly sexist, right? Bossed was really well done, though. And even if I’m not usually a fan of office romances, it definitely hit the right spot! I think it’s partly because Jenny didn’t take what Ethan was dishing. And she was so snarky it was impossible to not fall in love with her. Ethan acted like the big bad wolf at times, but Jenny knew her baseball and called him on it. Every time. Bossed is a quite […]

Review: Jilted – Sawyer Bennett

Review: Jilted – Sawyer Bennett

Jilted was a feel-good romance, second-chance-at love story that had lots of obstacles in the way for the two main characters. Bennett really has a way to reign in her readers, and that’s exactly what happened when I started reading Jilted! Both Eden and Coop were great characters, which made understanding where Coop was coming from in the beginning a bit easier to deal with. And everyone who has ever chatte books with me know that second chance at love is one of my all time favorite tropes! Eden and Coop had both been through their personal hell, but meeting up again didn’t exactly make things any easier for either of them. Jilted starts with Eden finding out that her […]
