A SEAL’s Touch made me tingle all over – I love a good friends to lovers story, and Weber delivered on all the things I enjoy with that particular romance trope.
Not only do I love friends to lovers, I love it even more when the two friends are completely unaware of how attractive the other person finds them 🙂 Of course, the fact that they already enjoy each other’s company is a huge added bonus, and the sexy and funny banter between Taylor and Cat was off the charts. A SEAL’s Touch can be read as a standalone, as there are only glimpses of other characters from other books in the series.
The humour was a big part of A SEAL’s Touch, because Taylor felt as if the other SEALs’ ladies were trying to force him to have a serious relationship of his own, and that’s how he thought of bringing Cat to a BBQ with everyone. When he saw her in a sundress and with her hair loose rather than in her charpenter gear, though, he didn’t know what hit him! The characters were well done, and while their romance happened rather fast, it wasn’t a problem because Cat and Taylor knew each other so well before the romance started.
The characters in A SEAL’s Touch were well developed, and Weber managed to show me how confident Cat was – both as a woman in a man-dominated profession, and just as a woman – period. I enjoyed how strong Cat was, and how she was able to sort through her emotions both when it came to her personal life and her work. Taylor thought he’d stay single and be a player for a long time still, especially after his last mission that really weighed down on him. When he realized there was much more to Cat than the little girl across the street, though, he knew he had to do everything he could to woo her so she could be his forever girl. The friendships depicted were well done, too, so this short romance hit the right spot for all the right reasons.
Written in third person point of view, past tense, with lots of witty dialogues, the story unfolded at a great pace, and managed to make me feel what the characters felt while enjoying the romance.
“You putting on weight?” Squinting at the other guy’s flat stomach, Taylor shook his head. “Shoulda stuck with rations instead of scarfing down seconds of your lady’s cooking.” “You miserable all by your lonely self?” Scavenger shot back. “Poor guy, stuck bouncing from woman to woman because none of them want to keep you?”
“You do. You’re living the dream.” “You dream about dating Taylor?” Cat gave a silent thanks that she’d kept her own Taylor fantasies to herself. Not that dating factored into any of them. Bonking, boinking, bouncing – they were all there, though.
Because as soon as he could make it happen, this thing between him and Cat wouldn’t be fake. It’d be real. Damned real.

I love that Cat is a woman working in a male-dominated profession and has an inner strength and confidence about herself.
