What does hockey star Rafe do when he gets news his father is dying from cancer? Well, he talks to his boss, Dominik, and manages to get transferred to another hockey team in his home town. Not happy with the way life has thrown him a curve-ball, Rafe is astonished when the person who picks him up is not his mom. Rather, it's his ex-girlfriend whom he hasn't seen in eight years. And there's definitely a possibility for something, even if Calliope is angry with him.

Rafe and Calliope were amazing! They had history, and now, a second chance at love. However, with that second chance came a lot of turmoil, too. Mostly because Rafe’s reason for coming home was to be with his dying father.

Rafe was a great addition to my two favorite hockey series! He had the worst reason ever to go back home, but luckily for him, there weren’t only bad things waiting for him. I loved Calliope, and how understanding she was, especially towards Rafe’s parents. I also really enjoyed how she made Rafe work for her time. Because she deserved only the best, and that’s not what he had given her in the past.

Rafe can be read as a standalone, as can most of Ms. Bennett’s books. However, I think you’d enjoy this story even more if you have read some of the Arizona Vengeance novels before you dive in here. I met Rafe in prior books, but only in the periphery of other characters, and Calliope was all new to me. She’s a fantastic character, though, and I’m so happy I got to meet her.

Bennett keeps going with her hockey series, and I for one am very happy about that. A huge hockey fan in real life, I love reading about the shenanigans the players come up with both on and off the ice. You might know that my husband is a former hockey player, and it was always fun to see him play. Seeing how the Arizona Vengeance players and their girlfriends deal with hockey life brings me many happy memories. Written in first person present tense, I really felt that I was right there with Calliope and Rafe.

Smart, sexy, sad, and filled with excellent hockey playing as well as both heartache and love, Rafe hit all the right spots for me. If you’re in the mood for a novella that can bring you all the feels, you should pick this one up right now!

About Sawyer Bennett:

Sawyer Bennett - (un)Conventional Bookworms - Rafe Blogtour

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released multiple books, many of which have appeared on the New York Times, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active daughter, as well as full-time servant to her adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or even better, both.

Sawyer also writes general and women’s fiction under the pen name S. Bennett and sweet romance under the name Juliette Poe.
