An old flame rekindled . . .
Zara Cinders always knew Ham Reece was the one, but he wasn't interested in settling down. When she found someone who was, Ham walked out of her life. Three years later, Zara's lost her business, her marriage, and she's barely getting by in a tiny apartment on the wrong side of the tracks. As soon as Ham hears about Zara's plight, he's on her doorstep offering her a lifeline. Now, it will take every ounce of will power she possesses to resist all that he offers.
Ham was always a traveling man, never one to settle down in one town, with one woman, for more time than absolutely necessary. But Ham's faced his own demons, and he's learned a lot. About himself, and about the life he knows he's meant to live. So when he hears that Zara's having a rough time, he wants to be the one to help. In fact, he wants to do more than that for Zara. A lot more. But first, he must prove to Zara that he's a changed man.
The romance and the closeness in Jagged hit me right in the chest – it was beautiful!
One of the things I loved the most about Jagged was the fact that Ham’s voice got jagged in certain situations. And I have to say, my feels with this story were completely off the charts. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to thank Brandee enough for introducing me to Kristen Ashley’s books!
The characters are grown-ups, which is something I find refreshing in romance, and while there was still a bit of drama, the action, the suspense, and the relationships were all easy to relate to, and I found I had a lot of love for the characters as they went through some fairly iffy stuff.
Written in third person point of view, past tense, I enjoyed getting close to the main characters and feeling all their fears and their love and frustrations.
He also didn’t pull any punches. If he liked something, he liked it and said he did. Same with the opposite. Same with anything. If he had something to say, he said it.
“I’m not out of the woods, Ham. You’re helpin’ a lot but I have a loose hold on easy.”
“We’ll get you there,” he promised.
“New rule. You don’t do that shit when I’m in the house,” he growled and I blinked.
“What shit?”
You use your toy to get off when I’m not fuckin’ here.”
Oh my God. He heard me.
I need to finish the Rock CHick series to continue with all her other novels!
You should, Melliane. I have enjoyed her other series even more than the Rock Chick series, and her writing just keep getting better.

while the story isn’t my type, I am particularly drawn to the beautiful cover
The cover definitely is beautiful. I want a paperback just for that reason, Ailyn!
I’m not usually that into romantic suspense or second chance romances (usually there are too many hurt feelings involved from the past), but it sounds like Kristen Ashley did a great job with both in this one!
That’s funny, Danya, lately romantic suspense is what I’m drawn to the most, and second chances are among my favorites. I think it’s because the characters already know each other, and were comfortable with each other at one point. And getting to know each other again years later just add some more sweetness to the deal 🙂
Oh yep! I read this one a long while ago, but I really did like this one particularly about how they responded to things.
Yeah, I loved how we could really see how they had grown as characters. And Ashley’s mountain men are the very, very sexiest 🙂
I’ve read a few Kristen Ashley books, but not this one. I’m so glad you loved this! I tend to find her dialogue a little odd, but I’m curious about this one. I also love when romance characters act like grown ups!!!
This isn`t normally my cup of tea, but it sounds interesting. The cover looks stunning though.

I have yet to read a book by this author but she is on my must read list. This whole series is on my wishlist as well. So glad you enjoyed it and the fact that they are grown-up is refreshing. Brilly review!
I really need to get to Kristen Ashley soon. I could use a grown up relatable romance. I am glad that you enjoyed this one, Lexxie!
You know reading your review and the quotes has me wishing I could re-read this one. 😉 I can’t wait to see her in Atlanta, Lexxie! She’s just amazing and I love, love, love her stories!!! I’m ecstatic that I hooked you. 😉
Love you!! {{{BIG HUGS}}}
