Review ~ This Same Earth ~ Elizabeth Hunter

Review ~ This Same Earth ~ Elizabeth Hunter

I was thrilled to be able to continue this series as a buddy read with my COYER friend, Lenore! It makes for more exciting reading when you can actively discuss the book while you’re reading it. This Same Earth picks up 5 years after the end of the first book. B is now a research librarian living in California and dating. Gio is never far from her thoughts, much to her dismay since he left her, but life is good. Then one day while working, B gets a whiff of a familiar scent and she’s once again being drawn into a world she thought she’d left behind…and back to Gio. Even though most of it’s been done off-page, I could […]

Can You Read a Series in a Month? Review ~ Foreplay ~ Sophie Jordan

Can You Read a Series in a Month? Review ~ Foreplay ~ Sophie Jordan

FYI, this review was previously posted on my solo blog waaay back in December of 2013. Since none of you knew me then (except Linda!) I decided to repost the review for this challenge. 🙂   Sophie Jordan has solidified her place on my favorite authors list! Foreplay was brilliant! I’m gonna show my age here but do any of you remember Garth Brooks’ song Unanswered Prayers? (it came out when I was in high school 😉 That could be Pepper’s theme song. Pepper’s life, especially her childhood, was never normal and definitely not safe. When she ends up living with her grandmother, she is befriended by the Montgomery siblings. Lila becomes her best friend and Hunter becomes the man to whom […]

ARC Review: Shenanigans – Sarina Bowen

ARC Review: Shenanigans – Sarina Bowen

Shenanigans has all the ingredients I love in a good romance! Humor, friendship, hockey, hotness and a dash of side characters to hate on. To say I loved Shenanigans is a huge understatement! Neil and Charli were such great characters to get to know. From their accidental Vegas wedding to everything they did to not only stay married, but try to work it out as a business thing rather than anything real with feelings involved. Between the friendships in both of their hockey teams, and the way they had to fight their families to get to the finish line – it all just made so much sense to me. I really loathed Neil’s uncle, because his shenanigans were just mean-spirited […]

Weekend Wrap-up #348 – Dry, sunny weather

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookworms and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer. STS #348 Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:   The Sunday Post #277 – Weekend Wrap-up Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ The Girl in the Mist ~ Kristen Ashley

Blogger Wife Chat Review ~ The Girl in the Mist ~ Kristen Ashley

Wifey, I was most impressed with The Girl in the Mist, KA’s first foray into true romantic suspense. Of course, she’s not disappointed me yet with any genre she’s dipped her toe into. What did you think overall? Did she win you over? Is that a real question, wifey? Like, yeah, of course she won me over – I loved it! It was so well done.    One thing that impressed me most was the fact that although I knew KA was dropping hints, leaving clues, and throwing red herrings, I didn’t have a clue whodunit. Oh, I had myriad theories but I was surprised at the reveal. Did you figure out whodunit? I did not figure out whodunit at […]

Buddy Read Chat Review ~ Western Waves ~ Brittainy Cherry

Buddy Read Chat Review ~ Western Waves ~ Brittainy Cherry

I had the pleasure of another buddy read with my COYER friend, Nadene. This time we read Western Waves by Brittainy Cherry. You can check out this review and others at Nadene’s blog, Totally Addicted to Reading. 🙂 Let’s get to our chat!   Despite some consistency issues, I think we both enjoyed Western Waves. The inconsistencies did pull me out of the story at times. It felt rushed. But the bones of the story were good. This was actually the first book I’ve read from this series but I plan to go back and read its predecessors since you recommend them. 😉 Your overall opinion? Yes! You need to read the previous books. You won’t regret it. They were […]

Review ~ A Hidden Fire ~ Elizabeth Hunter

Review ~ A Hidden Fire ~ Elizabeth Hunter

If I hadn’t read other books from EHunter, I’d feel a lot worse for not having gotten to A Hidden Fire sooner. As it is, I’m still kicking myself. But I was thrilled to be able to join Sophia Rose and Lenore (COYER friends) in a buddy read, especially because I was able to chat, moon, and generally wax poetic about how incredible this book is! Beatrice is a heroine after my own heart since she’s studying to be a librarian. 🙂 She lives with her grandmother, having lost her father and then grandfather, and attends school in Houston. Who would have thought her chosen field would lead her to knowledge of what really happened to her dad, a supernatural […]

Review ~ Spoiler Alert ~ Olivia Dade

Review ~ Spoiler Alert ~ Olivia Dade

Spoiler Alert delivered ALL the feels! It was angsty and emotional, and ODade captured exquisitely the injury and scars that can come at the hands of those we love…those that are supposed to love us unconditionally. I am ecstatic that Spoiler Alert was chosen for February’s COYER Book Club and that I was able to read it with two of my COYER friends, Berls and Kristen. April is a geologist. She chose her field because she loves rocks. She loves rocks for their layers and the stories they tell. She also has a side interest, that of writing fan fiction based on her favorite TV series. The parallels between April’s rocks’ stories and the stories she writes are myriad. When […]

Buddy Read Chat Review ~ The Good Lie ~ A.R. Torre

Buddy Read Chat Review ~ The Good Lie ~ A.R. Torre

One element of COYER that I’m enjoying is the facilitation of buddy reading. It enables me to get to know my online friends better as well as helping me read genres I don’t read or read enough. This month, I buddy read The Good Lie by A.R. Torre with my COYER friend, Nadene. You can check out her blog, and this review, here. I’m so happy we buddy read this, Nadene! I love suspense and don’t read near enough of it. The Good Lie had me on the edge of my seat, not wanting to put it down. I’ll definitely read more from AR Torre. Yes! Me too. I read a book written by the author before (Every Last […]
