Feature and Follow #66 – Movie Better than Book?!?
YAY it’s Friday! Gain new followers and make new friends with the Book Blogger Feature and Follow! If this is your first time here, welcome! You are about to make some new friends and gain new followers — but you have to know — the point of this hop is to follow other bloggers also. I follow you, you follow me.The Feature and Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Rachel of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to meet more new bloggers!
What sets this Hop apart from others, is that our hosts feature two blogs. Every week they will each showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow both their featured as well as our lovely hosts as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your Feature and follow post. I prefer being followed via e-mail, RSS / Bloglovin’ or Google+; or you can like my facebook page, or even follow me on Twitter.
Are there any book to movie adaptations where you think the movie is better than the book?
I have not seen any book to movie adaptations where the movie was better than the book. More often than not, I’m pretty disappointed if I watch a movie based on a book I enjoyed – and I don’t think I’ve tried a movie based on a book I didn’t enjoy… A recent movie based on a book where I really enjoyed the movie as well as the book is Hunger Games! I thought it was very well done, and I loved how most of the actors really portrayed the characters well.
What about you? Is there a movie you though was better than the book? Please leave me a link so I can check out your Feature and Follow post!
Thanks for stopping by, have a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend.
My vote is Holes. I couldn’t get into the book, but it could have been a mood thing. I absolutely love the movie. I’m with you about Hunger Games. I’ve seen it multiple times. I love both equally and I think a lot of it has to do with the cast. There is nothing like the first twenty-thirty minutes of that movie.
I have no idea what movie or book that even is, Robyn. It’s nice if you could enjoy a story better in the movie than the book, though 🙂
And Hunger Games is awesome! I really look forward to the 2nd movie coming out soon!
Thanks for stopping by.
Yeah, lots of times I am disappointed with the movies. Although I did think of one that I love the movie and only so-so with the book!
Here’s my Follow Friday
Have a GREAT weekend!

I’m glad you’ve enjoyed at least one movie more than the book, Jessica!

I haven’t seen a movie that was as good as the book..I have seen some entertaining movies..I always just take then as they are..a movie. I was never a fan of Hunger Games and I thought the movie was okay. I will probably watch the other ones because I will not be finishing the actual series in books because I didn’t like it. (I know I think I am like the only person on the planet…lol)
It’s OK that you didn’t enjoy the Hunger Games, Stormi, I still love you 😉
There are some really good movies though, and sometimes, I don’t even know if the movie is based on a book…
Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 I believe I’m already following you gals via Bloglovin 🙂
I know a lot of people will be upset with me…
Sense & Sensibility (Emma Thompson version) and Pride & Prejudice (Colin Firth version). I loved the books, but love the movies even more. The movies are a good representation of the books. Closer than most.
Also Shakespeare…those plays really must be seen to really be appreciated.
Finally, Bridget Jones Diary (the first one). Yes, there are still major differences between the two but I like the movie a bit better (could be a Colin Firth thing). [Note: I like the book Edge of reason better than the movie.]
This is a great topic! Thank you for posting it.
I watched the BJ movie a long time after I read the book, so it was difficult to make parallels for me.
I am going to England in May next year with my ‘Shakespeare in Performance’ class, and I’m looking forward to that so much! But I agree, those pieces were written for the scene, not for individual reading.
Thanks for stopping by, Xyra 🙂
That will be so much fun. Enjoy your trip to the theater.
I think it’s hard to find adaptations that are better than films, because you’re right that generally they’re not. Sometimes they can be really good, but even the great ones generally don’t live up to the books. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Happy Friday! 😀
I agree, Liesel. Most of the time, it just makes me sad to watch a movie based on a book I enjoyed. But it has happened that I’ve enjoyed the movie, as well, even if the book always wins 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
I agree! I haven’t come across any movies that are better than the books. Though there are many, many movies that I love that are based on books, such as Harry Potter (: But still not as good as the books!

I agree, Tina! I love the Harry Potter movies, but so much is left out. A friend shared her view…”stunning visuals companions to the books”…and that seems to work for a lot of movie adaptions.
I agree, most of the time, there is that little something missing from the movies – that little extra thing I loved while reading.
Thanks for stopping by, Tina.
Hopping through. i really liked the Hunger Games movie. Although ultimately I still like the book more.
My FF
I totally agree, Alison! Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your weekend 🙂
I agree I am almost always disappointed when I see the movie adaptation of a book I loved. To the point where I dread seeing the movie. Thanks for stopping by. Old follower.
That’s exactly how I usually feel as well, Lacie, and that’s why it took me very long before I finally rented The Hunger Games. I’m happy to say I really enjoyed that movie, though. Even if the book was better, the movie was very good.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I liked the book a little better, but the movie was awesome as well. Have a great weekend!
~Pam @ Moonlight Reader
Oh, I liked the book better, too. But the movie was pretty awesome anyway 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Pam. Have a great weekend yourself!
Lexxie, (I always want to call you Lexxie Lou because my mom calls my daughter that. lol)
I have to make sure that I DON’T watch the movie before I read the book, because if I do, it will ruin the book for me and I won’t ever pick it up. 🙁 It’s terrible but I get all rawr about the book and it never gets a fair shake.

Aw. Your daughter’s name is Lexie? That’s too cute!
I know that if I watch the movie it’s not use to read the book after. I hate spoilers, so if I know part of what will happen before I start reading, it won’t work for me, either.
Thanks for stopping by, Melissa!
Hunger Games is a movie I really want to see because it looks great, and the only reason I haven’t is because I haven’t read the book first. That’s a strict requirement for me. I have to know how it’s supposed to be and then I’ll watch the movie/tv show. Have a great weekend Lexxie!
Traci, do you already own Hunger Games? You do need to read the book before the movie, but most of the characters in the movie are just as enjoyable as the ones in the book! I was properly amazed 🙂
Have a great weekend yourself 🙂
Of all the books that are on my Read Me Now shelf, sadly the Hunger Games isn’t one of them. It’s still languishing on the TBR. Maybe if I go ahead and get it then I’ll start it? Worth a shot right? I’ve heard such great things about both book and movie 🙂
I couldn’t think of any that were better either. I really loved The Hunger Games movies but loved the books way more. When you watch a film based on a book you love I think you are a lot more critical – for example it lost loads of points just for getting a characters hair colour wrong, which is really sad of me! Great answer. My F&FF.
LOL, yes, I agree that not ‘getting’ the characters based on their description in the book is not a good thing. And if there are some details that I really loved in the book that don’t make it to the movie, I’m not too happy about that, either. So more critical is certainly true.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I’ve never seen a movie based on a book where I thought the movie was better either, Lexxie. And if it’s based on a book, I always read the book first. LOL I do agree that Hunger Games did a nice job. I think the Harry Potter movies did as well. Oh, and I thought The Silence of the Lambs was excellent – just not quite as good as the book. 🙂
About my 3 book boyfriends…you were right on 2. Justus and Simon. But Adam is 3rd…but perhaps only because I haven’t met Logan yet?!? 🙂 Are you telling me I’m going to have 4??? And Lexxie, I’m not that selfish…I’ll share. But only with you! 😉
I hope you’ve had a lovely Friday! Enjoy the weekend and I’ll see you tomorrow. 🙂 *hugs*
I’m so happy you agree to share, Brandee, and wow, I didn’t think of Adam. You can keep him 😛 But then maybe I’ll just keep Logan to myself, too 😉
I never read the book the Silence of the Lambs is based on, so I can’t compare. And I frankly don’t watch many movies at all… I’d rather curl up with a book, you know?
Thanks for stopping by *hugs*
I thought the HG movie did a good job interpreting the book. Some things were changed, but the spirit of the story and characters was there. I had a hard time with this question, but I did actually think of a few at the last minute. Old follower.
Happy Friday!
Oh, you really said that very well, Jennifer, the spirit of the story was indeed kept in the Hunger Games movie.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend.
I am not a fan, but I thought The Devil Wears Prada movie was better than the book.
The Hunger Games is the rare exception. Both the book and the movie were outstanding.
I haven’t read the book, and I can’t remember if I ever watched the movie.
Thanks for stopping by, Lyn 🙂
Hi,
I have not read this book and neither watched the movie but will surely check them out soon..:)
I picked LOTR movies because in my opinion, they are the closest adaptations to the books.
This is my first Friday Feature and Follow participation and I am so excited..:)

Thanks for stopping by, Nikita, it’s nice to ‘meet’ you 🙂
I never read the LOTR books, I could never get into the long descriptions in the beginning, and sadly, I haven’t watched the movies yet either.
Have a great weekend.
I couldn’t think of any movies I liked better than the books, although Robyn reminded me my husband liked the movie World War Z way better than the book. He read the book first, and then after watching the movie told me how dry he thought the book was but that the movie was so well done and added more to the story.
I so agree with you on The Hunger Games. I enjoyed the movie as much as I did the book, and I am anxiously awaiting Catching Fire, my favorite of the trilogy. I just took my daughter and my friend’s niece to our library Friday night where they showed The Hunger Games. They’ve both read the books and seen the movie before, too. It was a lot of fun.
Have a great weekend!
I think The Hunger Games was a ridiculously well-made movie as well, and I love it almost as much as I loved the book.
Thank you for the follow, i am following you back on Bloglovin’!
Hey, Lexxie, new Bloglovin’ follower here! I really loved the Hunger Games book, and was almost scared to watch the movie, but I ended up really loving the movie, too!
