15 Day Book Blogger Challenge – Day 4 – What is the last book you flung across a room?
This great book blogger challenge is hosted by April @Good Books and Good Wine , and I really have to thank April for this excellent idea. There’s a link-up at April’s blog if you want to participate as well 🙂
Since I usually read e-books, it’s been a very long time since I literally flung a book across the room, but that feeling, that anger, that want to fling a book into the wall is one I do know. Luckily, this doesn’t really happen to me very often, as I have become quite good at avoiding books that I just can’t read. The last two (yes I have to mention both!) were the 2nd book in the Hush, Hush series and the 2nd book in the Fallen series. I have not continued reading these series, both have a heroine who is acting like a spoiled toddler, running head-first into danger, and not really treating the other characters very nicely. I hate it when my kids whine, and I certainly don’t want to spend my reading time with characters who whine a lot. On top of having characters I did not like, did not understand, and could not relate to in any way, these two series also had other characters who deliberately withheld important information, thus made bad situations even worse. I also didn’t really care for the writing – so – if they had been actual paper books, I think I would have tossed them across the room.
Have you had books you wanted to fling across the room?
OMG, those are two series that I haven’t read but have high hopes for. GAH!
Oops! Sorry about that, Lizzy 🙂 I have a lot of friends who loved these, though, so you might like them.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
*crosses fingers*
I like the Hush, Hush series, Lizzy. But there are moments when I want to smack one character or another for some reason. Finale is on my TBR short list right now – sometime after The Historian.

Those are two series that I have no interest in and now I am glad I didn’t try them..lol. 🙂
LOL, what can I say? Lizzy wants to read them, and I scared her now, and you don’t want to read them and are happy I hated them…
Thanks for stopping by Stormi 🙂
Hmmm, I seem to recall you being a “book flingner” with City of Bones and City of Lost Souls too. Thankfully, as you all warned me I was prepared was not similarly inclined. LOL
LOL, yeah, that’s true, Xyra, but it wasn’t as bad as Fallen and Hush, Hush. But the Shadowhunters are no longer on pre-order and I wish I had stopped reading after book three!
I liked Simon’s story and how he had to deal with being “mraked.” But where it went after that was a bit of a disappointment. I’m hoping she ends it well (and isn’t inspired to add more) next year.
I don’t even really care what happens to any of them now 🙁 it’s really sad, because I loved the first three books.
Oh, that is sad.
Oh man, I totally know how annoying the whining characters are! Makes me wanna beat my head with a lamp! Great post

I did read the second Hush, Hush book but it was ages ago, and I don’t remember too much of it. I know I was frustrated at times. And I’ve not read the second Fallen book.
But I know what feeling you are talking about. The book I chose was because of how the main character acted, and it infuriated me. Livid!
I didn’t literally throw the book, though. I don’t think I’ve ever thrown a book, actually. No on purpose anyway.
LOL I don’t like whiny kids or characters either, Lexxie! So I don’t blame you one bit for not continuing these series…especially if you didn’t like the writing either. I can’t think of a book that I’ve wanted to fling across the room but I know I’ve yelled at and shaken my ereader at times! 😉
I have not read the Hush Hush for that very reason. The Fallen series I liked but, haven’t read the last book yet? Not sure what that means. Like you I prefer to not throw my Kindle. Hopefully you don’t have to throw any books in the future!

I know what you mean one of the mayor buzz kill in a book is a bad heroine, one that doesn’t treat others well or runs into danger again and again with out learning about her previous encounters or thinking about the consequences for herself or others.
I would recommend you stay away from the Eternal Ones by Kristen Miller and Fire by Kristin Cashore I feel those heroines are around the same lines as the ones from the Hush Hush series and the Fallen.

Lexxie I’ve read Hush, Hush and Fallen and whilst I didn’t mind either it wasn’t outstanding either, put it this way, I don’t even remember what Fallen is about, which is a pity as I bought the entire series just to get it signed 🙁
