Welcome to my Day 10 post in the Book Blogger Challenge. As you probably already know, this fun challenge is the brain-child of April over at Good Books and Good Wine, where you can sign up on her linky to make sure other participants can find your daily post. It will be open for six months, so you don’t have to do this challenge right now π
How do you choose which book to read next?
This actually depends a bit for me. If I have been too click-happy on Netgalley, and have been accepted for a lot of the books I requested, I try to make sure I read three ARCs per week. I don’t think it’s fair of me to ask for e-galleys and then not read them fairly quickly. Most of the time, I’m very good, and only request books by authors I love already, or books that are a part of a series I enjoy. But sometimes, it’s a cool blurb or an unusual cover that grabs my fancy.
If I don’t have a ton of ARCs on my kindle, I look through my TBR list on Goodreads – that shelf is populated mostly by books I already own and haven’t read yet, although some are parts of series I love and have on pre-order. As of right now, my TBR list on Goodreads has 526 books on it :O I have no idea how that happened! That means I probably 450 books on my kindle that I haven’t read yet.Β So, going through my TBR list, I try to listen to my mood – do I want a light romance? A mystery? A steamy PNR story? Something YA? Once that’s decided, I read a blurb and decide which book will be opened right then. And then I’m in another world for a while π
What about you? How do you choose which book to read? Do you have hundreds of books ready to be opened, read and enjoyed?
Thanks for stopping by today! I might be a little late in answering comments, as I am in Paris until Tuesday. But I will get back to you! Promise π
Have a great day π
I have a long TBR (a multi-tab Excel spreadsheet) and then a short list, which is what I keep on Goodreads. Once a month I’ll browse through my big list and add new titles to Goodreads. It works for me, so I’m not totally overwhelmed by my choices every time I visit the library.
Yeah, it’s important to be able to make sure we don’t have too much choice to overwhelm us! I don’t have an excel sheet, but so many different shelves on Goodreads that help π
Thanks for stopping by Charleen!
I think I decide what to read in much the same ways, Lexxie. Except for when I have books I must read for blog tours. π However, I’m about to embark an a self-challenge to read all those books on my TBR. This is going to take years π as you well know. I’m embarrassed to say that my TBR on GR is double yours. LOL
LOL, but does this self-challenge mean you can ONLY read the books on your TBR? Or will you be allowed to sneak in a few new releases here and there?
Yeah, blogtours can be tricky! I need to read some books for one that will take pace in August, but right now, I’m totally immersed in the Hollows π Thanks to you π
Yeah, I know I’ll have to allow for a few new releases here and there. Otherwise, I’d probably fail miserably in my challenge! LOL I really want to get some books read that I’ve had on my shelves (both physical and electronic) for awhile. I’m just such a visual person…I see something ‘shiny’ and I get distracted by it and must read it immediately! ;)Does that ever happen to you?!? π
Who? Me?!? No, not more than a couple of times per week π
I go by mood and what books have become available at the library, but those precious few purchased hold-in-my-hands books are spread out through out the year. Happy Paris trip!
Thank you Robyn π That sounds like a good plan, too, to spread out the few books you actually purchase to have as a special treat π
I usually grab what gets my attention – I am horrible with challenges because I hate to plan out my reading list.
Oh, that’s a problem I have as well, Lyn. I usually participate in It’s Monday! What are you reading? And I make a list of books I think I’ll read during the coming week. Most of the time, I only read one book that’s on that list, and end up reading lots of different books instead π
