Weekend Wrap-up #219 – And So 2018 Begins

Posted 6 January, 2018 by Linda @ (un)Conventional Bookworms in Memes, Wrap-up Posts / 28 Comments

Weekend Wrap-up is where I share my new books, as well as what happened here at (un)Conventional Bookviews and elsewhere in the blogoshpere. I’m linking up with the usual suspects, AKA Team Tynga’s Reviews and Caffeinated Reviewer.

STS / BB&B - (un)Conventional bookviews

STS #219

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality is all about the latest additions to my library – virtual or actual, with books that are  bought, borrowed, won or ARCs  I will (probably) be reading soon. Without further ado, here’s what I added to my bloated shelves this past week:

Purchased - (un)Conventional Bookviews bought borrowed and bagged stacking the shelves

I bought both these books during our trip, I love local myths, and I really want to know what Twain thought of Hawaii when he stayed there, too.

The Sunday Post #169 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

I’m pretty jet-lagged right now, as we arrived home from Oahu on Friday early evening. And the time difference is 11 hours. We had a fantastic time, though, the island was beautiful, the people friendly, and the weather close to perfect. We went on hikes, we drove to the north shore, and we even took a day trip to Maui. We were sad to leave, even as we were happy to get back home to the kids and the dogs.

  1. I have loved seeing all your beautiful photos of the trip! I’m so glad you had enough time to enjoy there! Rest up and relax this weekend. I’m sure laundry is calling. 🙂

    • We really loved our trip, Charlie. And we would have stayed longer if we could – but we still feel satisfied with what we saw and did while we were there, you know?
And yeah, laundry… there’s a problem with our outside pump, so I’m not sure if I can even try to get one load done 😮

  2. So glad you are home safe and your trip to Hawaii was fabulous. The myths looks neat and how fun that Mark Twain shared his thoughts on a visit to Hawaii. I stayed at a place in California last fall, an inn on Mono Lake where he wrote Roughing It and the inn was in the story.
I forgot to watch for your instagram pics so I’ll have to go back and scroll through them.

Have a great weekend and a nice rest to get caught up after your travels, Lexxie!

hawaii would have been such a great change to the wintry season(?) you are having now? I haven’t been on insta for a while so i missed your photos

  4. Ooh nice! Glad you had a good time! And yay for books! I love it when I read a book that’s set in a place I’ve visited! It’s just fun to really picture the places they mention and whatnot!

Hope you get lots of rest this weekend and…blanking on the word to help recharge/reset? you back to your timeline! Lol!

    Happy Reading!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

    • It is so nice to find books set in a place we’ve visited, I agree, Jessica.

I think I’ll be able to get back on track in the right time zone fairly quickly. I was able to go to bed last night not too late, and I was up at 7am this morning. Hopefully, I’ll be able to go to sleep fairly early tonight too, and then, I’ll be ready for work on Monday 😉

That Hawaiian book of myths looks awesome.

  8. Glad you had such a lovely time, Lexxie. I’m really eyeing that copy with the Hawaiian myths. Might have to buy a copy of it someday for myself. It sounds like something I would really totally love. I bought three books today but I won’t do a STS post until next week. 🙂

  9. Ooh the Hawaiian myths looks so cool! And those definitely look like the best kind of souvenirs 🙂

Also, I didn’t travel, but for some reason I am jetlagged it seems (??) I just can’t sleep till it’s 4, it’s some nightmare :/ so hey, at least you travelled xD

    Happy reading!

  10. Oahu sound amazing and I’m glad you had such a good time there. It’s on my bucket list! I love myths too, and I love that you brought home a book of Hawaiian ones.
