The Sunday Post #119 – Weekend Wrap-up

Kim @ The Caffeinated Reviewer, is our hostess with the mostest for the weekly Sunday Post where I’m wrapping things up. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.

(un)ConventionalBookViews_Banner-WhatHappenOfftheBlog

I’ve had a REALLY busy week! Even if it was still a full week of vacation. I finally found my muse back for my thesis, so I’ve written a lot. It’s more about fitting pieces together at this point, and proving my arguments with articles by professionals so that I can show that I have done my research correctly. I really need to hurry up and get ready, though!

I was also informed about having substitute work until March 5th, starting on Monday… and this is really excellent news for me – but I still need to write, write, write 🙂

The weather has really cooled down this week, with snow on the mountain tops, and the want for skiing in the Swiss or French Alps. Sadly, I don’t have time for that 🙁

This Week’s Freddy in Action:

Even my reading chair is not off limits for Freddy!

  1. This week I bought my first new book in 2017. It´s the second book in a series about how king Haakon and queen Maud came to Norway in 1905 with their son Olav to become our royal family, and I can´t wait to read it. Have a wonderful weekend 🙂 Klem fra Anette 🙂

  2. I like the scenic views on the Kristen Ashley books and I love that monster face peering out of the book box! Freddy looks adorable as always…I have to make do with a stuffed monkey keeping me company while I read! Have a good week and enjoy your books!

    • 🙂 I love the Kristen Ashley books, Chuckles – I’m not so sure you will, though, as even if there is quite a bit of mystery and suspense, there’s a lot of romance, too 😉
Stuffed monkeys are to cute! But I prefer my little Freddy 😀

  3. I really enjoyed reading your post – it sounds like you’ve had a great week, especially with finding your muse for your thesis. I hope the words continue to flow for you. You’ve got a great book haul for the week too, I haven’t heard of a lot of the books but I read the Paullina Simons one a while ago and enjoyed it so I hope you do too. Here’s my StS post: https://rathertoofondofbooks.com/2017/01/07/stacking-the-shelves-7-jan/

    • I did have a good week. And while I found my thesis muse, I don’t feel like I got that much done. I really need to get my act together and type like I’ve never typed before 🙂
I’m glad you enjoyed the Paulina Simons book, Hayley, I wasn’t as big a fan of her Bronze Horseman as I thought I’d be.

  4. That’s fantastic that you got on a roll with writing your thesis. And wow, a nice stint of substituting, too.

Nice haul of books. Jagged is the Colorado Mountain book I read already, but I have Kaleidoscope from my older review stack. I have the first two books and want to read them in order. Love that you snagged Once Perfect.

Freddy has such a personality that really comes out in your pictures.

    Have a good week, Lexxie!

    • Not enough, Sophia, not enough 🙂 I’m really happy about the substitute stint, though 🙂 It’s going to be nice to have work for a couple of months 🙂
Brandee told me I should read another book before Jagged, so I’ll do that. I hope you’ll enjoy the other Colorado Mountain couples as much as I have 🙂 My feels have been all over the place!
He does have a great personality, and I’m glad that shines through in the pics 🙂

Woo-hoo congrats on the thesis writing! I remember what a process that is and the great feeling whenever you manage to hit a good stride. And yay for the sub job! Long term jobs have to be so much better – I know I would prefer that if I had to sub. Good luck keeping up with the job and writing – it’ll be a tall order but you can do it 🙂

    Have a great weekend! {{BIG HUGS}}

    • I feel like I’ll never be able to completely finish, Berls. I so wish it was already over with 😀
Long term jobs are much more interesting, because I can make my own lesson plans, and I have time to get to know the students. In one class, there are some students I had last year, and I really look forward to spending some time with them again 🙂
Have a great weekend yourself 🙂

  6. Happy to hear that your thesis writing has been going well. I remember one of my friends struggling through theirs. Great book haul! I hope you enjoy Tied to Trouble by Megan Erickson. I loved it!

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Glad you are able to get back into writing your thesis. Sorry this week has been super crazy for you. I am getting back into the routine of after the holidays!
Skiing in the Swiss Alps sounds heavenly, sorry you wont be able too this year. I would go more for the sights, I can not ski at all and spend about 100% of the time…on my butt! 🙂

The book box looks awesome is that a journal it came with? That is so cool!

Oh Freddy is such a cutie.

Have a great week, Lexxie! Happy Reading! (((hugs))) oxoxox

    • It has been a bit crazy, but still – it was a vacation week, so no getting up and getting dressed at 7am 😉
You should come for the sights of the Alps one day, Michelle! I’ll go for long walks and hikes with you 🙂
That was a journal in the book box, and you know I love journals 😀 The books look good, too 😉

  8. OOh nice! Looks like a good week! Good books…totally new to me ones! LOL! Contest wins! Nice weather…Freddy! Sounds like good times! Hope they continue and that your thesis continues to go well!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower 🙂

  9. Awesome haul of books this week. I see that Freddy is very active…He much feel love for you to get into your reading chair. Quite a few of your books are new to me.

    Grace

  10. I want to read The Shadow of Lakecrest also, but I haven’t downloaded it yet. Congrats on working on your thesis more. It will be wonderful to wrap it all up and present it, right? Are you hoping to teach college level English in the future? Best Wishes.

    • I look forward to The Shadow of Lakecrest, the summary just really got to me, Ardis. It will be awesome to wrap up the thesis and be done with it all 😀 College level is uni, right? I’d have to have a doctorate for that, my thesis is an MA thesis, so I can teach high school English. It’s what I want to do, and substituting has cemented that for me 🙂

  11. It’s been COLD here this week and snowy too. Winter and all that. 🙂 Good luck with your writing and I hope it goes well! Sounds like you’re in the final stretch, or close? And have a good weekend!

  12. Freddy is adorable! We finally got some snow here, enough to look and feel like winter. Congratulations on getting your thesis muse back, and on your substitute teaching job. And I hope the remainder of your thesis-writing goes well!

  13. So many good things here Lexxie! Yay for rediscovering your muse and getting stuck into your thesis!

Some great new books AND a work contract. It sounds like 2017 is starting wonderfully for you!

  14. It is great that you got a lot of work done on your thesis. It is great news about the teaching job. You added some great books this week – lots of Kristen Ashley! I have Girls in the Moon on the way to me from the Book of the Month Club and I am looking forward to it.

  15. Great to hear you got your muse back Lexxie. Those last bits are always the hardest. But you can do it!! 😉
Ow.. I’m so jealous right now! I miss the Swiss snow!! Sigh.. I’ve been dreaming about Swiss all week. Don’t know why though!
Have a great week and happy reading!

    • Yeah, they really are the hardest! I have all these puzzle pieces, now, I need to put them together to make a full picture 🙂
We don’t really have a lot of snow, Maureen, but I totally get that you’re dreaming of Switzerland 😀

  16. Glad to hear that your thesis is coming along well. I’ve seen some pictures of the Alps. Scary that there isn’t that much snow yet. I don’t think I could ski or snowboard in the Alps. I’m a chicken and I think they would be too steep for me. The mountains over here are too steep for me in most places. Good luck on working on your thesis and your teaching.

    • It’s been way too hot for snow – but there are some places that have finally gotten snow now, Melanie. I do think you’d be able to ski and snowboard here – not all the slopes are steep, but they are very long – which makes for some very nice days!

  17. oh I want a Freddy! he is so adorable. No dogs allowed in my house until the kids are old enough to walk it. 🙂

I just added Bad Mommy to GR. It liked the premise. Oh a full week of vacation??? I’m jealous but happy for you too. Being inspired for your thesis is great news. Just remembering those days gives me PTSD LOL! SO YES! HURRY! 🙂 Good luck!

    • LOL, that’s what I said, too, Daniela. My youngest turned 11 last summer, but still, I’m the one walking Freddy the most… He also spends quite a bit of time in our backyard -which is quite big, and he’s such a small dog…
Bad Mommy sounds really good, I really look forward to reading it 🙂
I can’t wait to be completely finished with my thesis, you have no idea!

  18. I’m glad you found your thesis mojo!! You got some great books. I haven’t read the Colorado Mountain series yet, but I like most of KAs stuff. And I love that series by Cecy Robson!! Hopefully you will enjoy it as well.
Have a great week and best of luck on your thesis!

  19. Sounds like you had a great week. Between finding your writing mojo, and vacation sounds like you are on the right track. I love all your new books looks like lots of fun reading ahead. I’ve heard so much good stuff about Bad Mommy. I hope you enjoy all your new books. I can’t believe how big Freddie is getting he’s growing up so fast. Thanks so much for sharing. Have a great week and happy reading.

  20. Wow, you got some really great books this week. I like a few in particular. 😉 I can’t wait to see what you think of them all!! And you did have a busy week. I’m so happy your muse has returned. I have to figure out a way to keep my focus. I find it really difficult sometimes. Of course, the kids go back to school this week – at least two of them – so maybe that’ll help. But then, Sky and I are going skiing at least one day, so…… LOL
    I hope you’ve had a great weekend, wifey!! Miss you and send lots of love!!! {{{HUGS}}}

    • Yeah, my one-click finger apparently needed some exercise, wifey 😉 It definitely is hard to keep focus, and once the focus is left, it needs to be found again.
YAY for skiing with Sky! I wish I could teleport and spend a day with you two!
My weekend was good, even if I miss you lots! {{{BIG HUGS}}} and love

  21. I just read a review for Once Perfect! The blogger liked the book – and I like MMA romances, so I’m curious about it. 😀 I love Megan Erickson’s books, though I haven’t read her latest Brazen novel. Too busy. 🙁 I hope you enjoy all of your new books, Lexxie!

    Have a lovely week. =)

  24. Wishing you great success as you work on the thesis! I’ve listened to a couple of Kirsten Ashely’s books on audio and really enjoyed them. Have a great week.

  25. I’m late stopping in today. My brother is down from Michigan and we all gathered at my sister’s in Pensacola and ate pizza and watched football. It’s been freezing temps here and was nice to stay in for a change. Freddy knows how to enjoy being a dog and doing doggie things. LOL My dog has his head resting on my lap as I comment here. Have a fabulous week, Lexxie. And good luck with your writing and your teaching!
