Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine. This meme is a place to showcase a book we’re really looking forward to with bated breath! A new release in our favorite series, an exciting new title from a favorite author…
Waiting on Wednesday #28 – The Shadows
Yes, I’m waiting for the next Black Dagger Brotherhood story that will be released on March 31st. So many things happened in the last story, and I’m very curious about several characters right now.
The Shadows (Black Dagger Brotherhood #13) – J. R. Ward
Trez “Latimer” doesn’t really exist. And not just because the identity was created so that a Shadow could function in the underbelly of the human world. Sold by his parents to the Queen of the S’Hsibe as a child, Trez escaped the Territory and has been a pimp and an enforcer in Caldwell, NY for years- all the while on the run from a destiny of sexual servitude. He’s never had anyone he could totally rely on… except for his brother, iAm.
iAm’s sole goal has always been to keep his brother from self-destructing- and he knows he’s failed. It’s not until the Chosen Serena enters Trez’s life that the male begins to turn things around… but by then it’s too late. The pledge to mate the Queen’s daughter comes due and there is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide, and no negotiating.
Trapped between his heart and a fate he never volunteered for, Trez must decide whether to endanger himself and others- or forever leave behind the female he’s in love with. But then an unimaginable tragedy strikes and changes everything. Staring out over an emotional abyss, Trez must find a reason to go on or risk losing himself and his soul forever. And iAm, in the name of brotherly love, is faced with making the ultimate sacrifice…
Thanks for stopping by, have a fantastic Wednesday! Don’t forget to leave me a link in your comment so I can come and check out your Waiting on Wednesday post, too.
I see this book regularly at my local library but haven’t had a chance to read it. Maybe one day. Hope you enjoy The Shadows when you get a chance to read it.
This series is one of the first adult vampire series I ever read, Marilyn 🙂
*sigh* Another series I love but that I’m behind on. Maybe I’ll have time to catch up some this year, no??
118 days, Lexxie!!! Hope you’re having a wonderful Wednesday! **BIG HUGS**
I’m actually up to date with this one, Brandee 🙂 It’s amazing, really 😀 Oh my, only 118 days? *BIG HUGS*
WOW. That cover is really nice. Sadly I have only read the first book in this series. Maybe one day I’ll read the rest of the books. Excellent choice.
Sometimes, it’s really hard to keep up with series, Grace, but this one is one I really enjoy 🙂
Oh yeah definitely excited for this one!
here’s our WOW
Janhvi @ The Readdicts
I love those brothers, and Trez has always intrigued me, Janhvi.
I can’t wait for this one either! I’ve been wanting to learn more about the shadows for awhile now! 😀
Me too, Angie! And I want to know about their female ruler, too…
I do love a good series..and I am unhappy when I find books that sound good that are halfway through a series…LOL.
But thanks for putting this one on my radar, and enjoy!
Here’s mine: “IN THE UNLIKELY EVENT”
Oh I know! Learning about a series when there are already 5-10 books in it is quite frustrating. However, sometimes, that means you can binge-read and stay in that one universe for a while if you enjoy it 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Laurel-Rain.

I think somewhere on my ereader I have the very first book in this series..lol. I didn’t like one of the other J.R. Ward books I read so I just never got around to trying this one..but I know I need too..lol. 🙂
You should try this one, Stormi… it’s quite hot, and the vampires are really cool!
Hmm- new to me but sounds like it could be a good one. Hope you get a chance to read it soon.
I really enjoy the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, Brandi 🙂
WHAAAT? I was sure #12 was the last one!! O.o Well that’s nice 🙂 Great pick haha! Admittedly, I haven’t read the series lol
Yeah, lots and lots of books in this series… and hopefully, it will continue for at least a few more books, there are some things I really want to know.
