Top Ten Tuesday – Top Ten books featuring travel in some way

This week on Top Ten Tuesday we are discussing books where the characters travel! It can be a road-trip, a honey-moon, traveling for work, vacation – you name it. Top Ten Tuesdays is a fun meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where we share our excitement for books, and I really like how this meme makes me think about the books I read, why I read them, and who to recommend my favorite reads to. So, here we go :

As usual, my list is in no particular order :

Just One Day Just One Day by Gayle Forman! What’s not to love, when there’s a trip to London and to Paris? I especially loved the descriptions of Paris, because the characters went to places most tourists don’t visit.

immortal rules cover (un)Conventional BookviewsThe Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa. Allie is traveling to different places in her search for her master, Kanin, and she is traveling on foot or by car. At every new road, there is a new adventure.

Legacy cover (un)Conventional BookviewsLegacy by Thomas A Knight – and here there be time traveling. But also travel on a dragon’s back, by foot or by ‘flashing’… And another one with time travel is Switching – which I reviewed as part of a blogtour earlier today! In Switching, the time travel isn’t done on purpose, and it’s a little scary to read about what the main character goes through as she is confused about everything – even who she is.

The Testing - (un)Conventional BookviewsIn The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau, the characters first travel by some kind of hoover-car from their hometown to the capital, then, they have to manage through deserted cities by foot, car, bike or whatever else they can get their hands on.

reluctant reaperThe travel that happens in The Reluctant Reaper by Gina X Grant is very different – as it takes the MC on a one-way trip to Hell…

first rule of swimmingIn The First Rule of Swimming, there is quite a lot of traveling taking place. First by boat, to reach the mainland, then by car, and finally by plane, to leave Croatia behind and arrive in the US. The scenery on the island in Croatia made me want to go there on my next vacation.

Finding Magic - (un)Conventional BookviewsI just really wanted to include one of my favorite series – Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts series 🙂 in Finding Magic, Chess is traveling around town in her car – from crime scene to crime scene.

Fall Of Night - (un)Conventional BookviewsClaire actually manages to leave Morganville in Fall of Night! She first travels by car, then by plane to get to the MIT campus.

Bitterblue - (un)Conventional BookviewsIn Bitterblue, the characters travel either by foot or by horse. When they do travel by foot, they do so partly in underground caves, and it’s a little spooky.

Thank You For Riding - (un)Conventional BookviewsLast but not least, I have to mention the Strangers on a Train series! There is Thank you for Riding, Back on Track, Big Boy, Tight Quarters and Ticket Home. They are all written by different authors, and their main theme is a romance happening on a train…

What about you? What are your Top Ten books featuring some kind of travel? I look forward to seeing your thoughts today. Thanks for stopping by, have a terrific Tuesday 🙂

    • Thanks for stopping by Ciska 🙂 Most of these are quite recent reads I enjoyed and thought I’d share once more.

    • I agree, I look forward to Just One Year and wish it would be released already 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by Lisa.

    • Thanks Rebecca 🙂 I loved The Testing, I hope you will too! It was really well written, and actually quite different from what I had imagined.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • Thanks Jaclyn 🙂 I look forward to seeing what you think of Fall of Night. I love Claire, of course, and things were different outside of MV.

    • LOL, that’s how I feel with some lists as well. There are just so many books that seem awesome – and I haven’t come around to reading them yet…

      Thanks for sotpping by, Jessica.

    • I know, the cover is gorgeous! I thought the story was beautiful as well 🙂 And hey, we gotta have something to help us to decide what we want to read, right?

Thanks for stopping by Andi 🙂

Only have read one on your list, Bitterblue. Loved that series as well. I have Immortal Rules on my library wishlist, now going to put a hold on it!

    • Yes, you definitely should! I love both that and The Eternity Cure 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Jenn 🙂 *hugs*

    • True, I have seen lots involving Paris today – but I only listed one, myself 🙂 You should definitely try a Julie Kagawa book – they are really good 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by Loni.

  2. Yay, I picked Just One Day too! 😀 And I was really close to choosing The Immortal Rules, but I decided on another Kagawa book in the end. I remember requesting The Reluctant Reaper on Edelweiss but they haven’t gotten back to me yet 🙁 Trip to hell sounds (not literally) cool though! I loved the Morganville book where they get out of town – it was so strange to see Shane and the others in a different environment.
    Great selection of books 🙂

    • Thanks Carmen 🙂 Kagawa has some great travelling in different worlds in her books, it’s awesome! I hope you’ll get your hands on The Reluctant Reaper, it’s a really funny book, and that trip to hell is well done 🙂 I agree, seeing the characters in a different environtment than Morganville was good.

Thanks for stopping by, happy reading!

    • I know what you mean! I wish I could absorb books, sometimes. But at the same time, I really love to read and be completely immersed in a new world, so that wouldn’t really work for me 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Lyn 🙂

    • Well, if any of them are in genres you enjoy, I can certainly recommend all of them! I even added some faves where the travel is minimal 😀

    • I’m pretty sure I can guess which one… it has vampires in it, and a very clever girl. And for once, those characters weren’t in the city where they all met 🙂

Thanks for stopping by Brandee 🙂

  3. Excellent list! The Graceling series AND The Immortal Rules are two series that I plan on getting into very very soon! I’ve heard great things about The Testing so that’s on the TBR as well 😀 Thanks for sharing doll ♥
