The Sunday Post #53 – Weekly Wrap-up
Welcome to my Sunday Post. Thank you to Kimba over at The Caffeinated Reviewer, who is hosting this weekly event. It is the perfect opportunity to share what happened here on my own blog, as well as some of the happenings elsewhere in the Blogosphere.
This week went by so fast! Not only did I teach a lot, I also had my classes where I’m a student, and on Tuesday evening, my oldest daughter and I went to a concert. We saw The Cat Empire, and they are truly amazing! It’s a mix of different kinds of music, and I love that. We had a great time, dancing, singing and listening. And because it was at a fairly small venue, we were able to be all the way in the front – if we stretched our arms, we could almost touch the musicians, and it made the experience so magical. Of course, it was also very nice to have that moment with my daughter. We seem to always keep swapping music these days, our tastes are fairly similar, but she’s better than me at finding ‘new’ groups we both love.

What have you been up to this past week? Don’t forget to leave me a link so I can come visit your Sunday Post as well.
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve enjoyed your weekend, and that next week will be filled with awesome!
I LOVE live music from a band you enjoy. It is just the best.
Me, too, Lyn! It is among the best things ever 😀
Getting to see a good band in a small venue like that is the BEST! And what a fun experience to share with your daughter. Have a great week!
It was really great, Christy, we had so much fun – and being in the front made it even more special 🙂

I love finding new bands and its good you share them with your daughter. Have a great week.
Yeah, it’s great to have that in common with her, Megan 🙂
That concert seems like a lot of fun. You can’t beat live music for a great night out. It’s fun you get to enjoy music with your daughter too and that you are both introducing each other to new music.
True, it was a lot of fun, and sharing our love for music has brought us even closer 🙂
It looks like you had an awesome time at the concert. I love seeing live music in a small venue. So much better that way than in a huge stadium. 🙂 I, too, really enjoyed All I Want. I’m pretty new to Jill’s books, but so far I enjoy her Animal Magnetism series more than Lucky Harbor. They’re both good, but I adore the characters, romance and, of course, animals in the former.
Hope you have a great week!
I agree, small venues are so intimate it makes the experience of live music even better 🙂
Jill Shalvis knows how to write a good contemporary romance that is character-driven, and I think that’s why I love her books so much. I’m glad you enjoyed All I want, too 🙂

The band sort of reminds me of the Dave Matthews Band, they have sort of the same sound. Love the picture of you both! It’s nice to have something in common with the kids. My kids don’t like my music so we will just share video games instead 😉
Have a fantastic week, Lexxie! Happy Reading! ox
We have to take what we get when it comes to common interests, Michelle, at least you have something you enjoy doing together 🙂
Have a fantastic week yourself 🙂
Awwww, you guys definitely look like you had such a fun time! My mother isn’t so much into music so we don’t have a bonding activity like this. Makes me jealous juuuust a little bit 😉
Aw, Faye 🙂 We are lucky with the music, for sure, but there are other things to bond over, no?
Oh that concert sounds like it was so much fun. Plus what great time you had with your daughter! Have a great week!
It was really good, Grace, and it’s always nice when she and I do something fun together 🙂
Looks like a great concert, nothing beats live music! Very cool that you guys can enjoy music together.
I agree, live music is awesome, Greg!
Whew sounds like you had a busy week with both teaching and being a student. That’s so awesome you got to stand so close to the musicians and it sounds like you had a lot of fun at the concert. I don’t go to them anymore as I went to a concert once and my ears can’t handle the noise, which is a shame as concert always look so fun. My boyfriend usually finds new music for us to listen to, I am not really a musical person, but I usually enjoy listening to whatever my boyfriend puts on. Hope you have a great week!
Yeah, it was a very busy week, but also a good week. At this concert, the music wasn’t too loud, it was actually perfect. And being in front made us swoon a little more 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Lola!
What a fun time you two had! Love the pictures too. I like going to concerts as long as they are the smaller ones. Not too crazy about huge crowds anymore.
I’m not crazy about huge crowds either, and tend to pick seats if a group I love come to a huge venue. But the smaller ones are amazing!

Glad you had fun at the concert. Smaller venues are the best. I don’t like large crowds, so I don’t go to a lot of concerts. If we had more in smaller venues, I might go to more.
We are so lucky with the smaller venue, because it’s in walking distance to our house… In November, we’ll see Charlie Winston, and we’re really looking forward to that as well 🙂
It sounds like you had a fun and busy week. I like going to smaller venues for concerts since it feels more personal. That is great you had some fun with your daughter. It is nice to have things in common so you will always have someone to go with to the events =)
That’s true, Kathy, being able to go with my daughter is great, we both have fun, even if she laughs at me a little when I get really into the music 😉
Dang, you were busy last week! The concert sounds delightful; small venues are fun.
Have a great week!
They are the best!!
Oooh it looks like you had a lot of fun at your concert Lexxie! Sounds like you’ve been pretty busy. Have a fantastic week ahead!
It was awesome, Jeann! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I’m glad you had such a lovely time with your daughter at the concert. I love spending time with my mom and doing things we both love.
I agree, Lauren, spending time with my daughter doing something we both love is great 🙂
The Cat Empire is an Australian group aren’t they? My brother was / is a huge fan if it’s the same group. I didn’t mind some of their songs but they haven’t had anything out in a while (guess that’s cos they’re touring!).
What a small world!
Yes, they’re from Melbourne, I think 🙂 And they are absolutely amazing! They keep releasing music, but I can’t say I have ever heard them on the radio here – which is another reason I’m happy my daughter is good at finding new groups 😀
Aw, how nice that you’re able to share such a fun thing with your daughter! Glad you enjoyed it!!
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Yeah, it was definitely a great evening, Nicole 🙂
The Cat Empire is a band I’ve never heard of…but Sky and I will check out. It seems like they put on a good show! I’m glad you had a good time with #1. I just decided she looks *A LOT* like her mom!! 😉 A concert was a treat for your busy week, I’m sure! I hope this week is a good one!! *BIG HUGS*
I think both you and Sky will enjoy The Cat Empire, Brandee! It’s a really cool mix of rock, ska, reggae, salsa and other kinds of music 🙂 LOL you think she looks a lot like me? 😀 And yes, it was a great treat to have the concert – I lived in a concert haze the day after, listening to their music on my way to class and all 🙂 *BIG HUGS*
Your concert sounds such fun, it has been ages since I have been to a concert, I used to love going when I was younger!
It sounds like you had some nice Mum/Daughter time, it is nice to have them to yourself for a wee while!
Looks like you had a fab time! Enjoy this week too c:

How fun for you and your daughter to attend a concert together! I saw one concert with my mother and I haven’t ever forgotten it. You all are making such good memories together 🙂
I love going to smaller venues for exactly the same reason. You can get closer and I think it has a more intimate and cooler feel. Im glad you had such a great time!
Hi Lexxie!
I’m so glad you had a great time at the concert! It’s wonderful when you can share something like that with family 🙂 I don’t have any kids yet, but I know it’s something I’d love to do with my mother. It’s the bonding, you know? We also have similar tastes in music so I can relate there 🙂 It’s just nice to have something like that to bond over… though she’s normally the one showing me “new” bands 😉 he he.
Take care,
Amy x
