Stacking The Shelves #33 – ARCs, Audios and Kindle…
Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!
Participating in Stacking The Shelves has helped me to keep better track of books I’m adding to my huge TBR pile every week, and I think I have gotten a little better at not adding too many books every single week. Participating in this blog-hop has also introduced me to more new blogs, and some weeks, I add more books to my ‘might-read-one-day’ shelf than I should, but before I actually have the books on my kindle, nothing has been decided yet.
Netgalley ARCs:
Stranger on the Shore – Josh Lanyon
Twenty years ago young Brian Arlington, heir to Arlington fortune, was kidnapped. Though the ransom was paid, the boy was never seen again and is presumed dead. Pierce Mather, the family lawyer, now administers and controls the Arlington billions. He’s none too happy, and more than a little suspicious, when investigative journalist Griffin Hadley shows up to write about the decades-old mystery. Griff shrugs off the coldly handsome Pierce’s objections, but it might not be so easy to shrug off the objections of someone willing to do anything to keep the past buried.
Ransom (Ransom Brothers #1) – Rachel Schurig
Daisy Harris has no reason to suspect that her day will be any different than usual. She’ll go to class, alone. She won’t speak or make eye contact. She’ll spend her entire day doing her best to go completely unnoticed. That’s what life is like for Daisy now—an endless cycle of loneliness and fear. A life lived hiding behind the walls she so faithfully maintains.
Then she sees it. A magazine, left behind in class. A simple picture—just his face. And it changes everything.
It’s been a year since she’s seen Daltrey Ransome. A year since he and his brothers left town to pursue their dreams of rock and roll superstardom. A year since he left Daisy behind—left her to watch as everything she knew crumbled around her. She’s been running from Daltrey ever since, desperate to keep her secret.
But she can’t run anymore. And now that Daltrey has found her—the girl he’s loved his entire life, the girl he’d give up everything for—he’s determined never to let her go again.
Temptation in Shadows – Gena Showalter
Originally released as part of THE BODYGUARD anthology, fall under the spell of Gena Showalter’s paranormal romantic suspense novella “Temptation in Shadows.” Every day he puts his life on the line, what will happen when it’s his heart in jeopardy?
Tall, lean, muscular—and definitely rough around the edges—Sean Walker is not your typical nightclub bodyguard. He’s a controller of shadows, able to wield darkness at will. But when a mysterious woman at the club turns out to have powers greater than his own, he has no choice but seduction…
Rules of Survival – Jus Accardo
If you want to survive, you have to follow the rules…
Mikayla Morgan is wanted for her mother’s murder. She’s been on the run for almost a year now, avoiding not only the police but the real killer. Tired of running and desperate to clear her name, she breaks one of the most sacred rules: never return to the scene of the crime.
Every bounty hunter on the Eastern Seaboard is after the Morgan girl—but Shaun Denver and his partner snagged her. She’s a piece of work, and Shaun can’t decide if he wants to kiss her or kill her. When things take a sharp turn south, Shaun does the only thing he can think of to keep her close—he handcuffs them together.
As the danger mounts and the killer closes in, the chemistry between them threatens to explode. Shaun and Kayla will need to break all the rules if they hope to get out of this alive.
Edelweiss ARCs:
The Agincourt Bride (Catherine de Valois #1) – Joanna Hickson
The epic story of the queen who founded the Tudor dynasty, told through the eyes of her loyal nursemaid. Perfect for fans of Philipa Gregory.
When her own first child is tragically still-born, the young Mette is pressed into service as a wet-nurse at the court of the mad king, Charles VI of France. Her young charge is the princess, Catherine de Valois, caught up in the turbulence and chaos of life at court.
Mette and the child forge a bond, one that transcends Mette’s lowly position.
But as Catherine approaches womanhood, her unique position seals her fate as a pawn between two powerful dynasties. Her brother, The Dauphin and the dark and sinister, Duke of Burgundy will both use Catherine to further the cause of France.
Catherine is powerless to stop them, but with the French defeat at the Battle of Agincourt, the tables turn and suddenly her currency has never been higher. But can Mette protect Catherine from forces at court who seek to harm her or will her loyalty to Catherine place her in even greater danger?
Dissonance (Dissonance #1) – Erica O’Rourke
Delancy Sullivan has always known there’s more to reality than what people see. Every time someone makes a choice, a new, parallel world branches off from the existing one. Eating breakfast or skipping it, turning left instead of right, sneaking out instead of staying in bed ~ all of these choices create an alternate universe in which an echo self takes the road not travelled and makes the opposite decision. As a Walker, someone who can navigate between these worlds, Del’s job is to keep all of the dimensions in harmony.
Normally, Del can hear the dissonant frequency that each world emits as clear as a bell. But when a training session in an off-key world goes horribly wrong, she is forbidden from Walking by the Council. But Del’s not big on following the rules and she secretly starts to investigate these other worlds. Something strange is connecting them and it’s not just her random encounters with echo versions of the guy she likes, Simon Lane.
But Del’s decisions have unimaginable consequences and, as she begins to fall for the Echo Simons in each world, she draws closer to a truth that the Council of Walkers is trying to hide ~ a secret that threatens the fate of the entire multiverse.
Kindle Purchases:
Rock It (Rule Breakers #1) – Jennifer Chance
Lacey Dawes is a total pro at the talent agency where she works, and it doesn’t hurt that IMO Worldwide Media represents Dante Falcone. The rock god has starred in her fantasies since she was sixteen—and remains her secret crush to this day. So when Dante picks her to be the interim manager on his Dream It tour, Lacey can’t believe her luck. Handling Dante is sure to be the most exquisite, spine-tingling, nerve-wracking mix of business and pleasure ever.
Although Dante is grateful for the adoring fans who scream for one more of his full-throttle, soul-searing songs, being surrounded by a cadre of corporate types backstage is wearing thin. Then Lacey shows up. Yeah, she’s organized, smart, quick to get him what he wants before he knows he wants it—but Dante senses there’s something else going on with sweet, sexy Lacey. One kiss tells him what that “something” might be . . . and makes him hungry for more.

Remember to leave me your link so I can check out your Stacking the Shelves post, too 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! Have a spectacular Saturday.
Amazing books! It looks like a gallery of beautiful covers. Gena Showalter is an author who I have been meaning to read for a long time now. Hopefully soon. Enjoy!
I love Gena Showalter, Stephanie, I hope you’ll get one of her books and that you’ll have a great time reading it!
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Some excellent authors you’ve picked up! What made you decide to get the audio books for The Vampire Academy? Such a great haul. Hope you have a wonderful weekend 😀 Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.
Jaclyn, I have started to really enjoy audiobooks, and so far, I have actually picked more books among those I’ve already read than all new ones, that may change soon when I get more used to having someone else read to me, though. I just finished listening to the first VA book, and I enjoyed it a lot. It makes chores around the house much more fun to do 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, my friend!
I see that we both picked up t the Joanna Hickson book. You really did well with some of these books. some of them are not in my particular genre, hope you enjoy them as well
YAY for The Agincourt Bride, Grace. I did get a pretty wide-spread selection this week.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!
I’m all kinds of jealous, Lexxie. *fans self* Some of those covers…wow! I can’t wait to read your reviews. Yay for Ransom…maybe a buddy read? I hope you enjoy them all, my friend!
Happy Saturday! Cheers to the semester being almost over! **big hugs**
Oh, I know, I wish I had the actual physical books for some of these because they are so beautiful 🙂 I would love to buddy read Ransom, Brandee. My last exam is on June 5th – after that I’m off until the middle of September 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, my dear. *BIG HUGS* right back at you.
Nice haul. I like Jus Accardo’s books. Hope you enjoy Rules of Survival and all your other additions.
My Sts @ Marilyn’s Mystery Blog
I haven’t read any Jus Accardo yet, but I have seen a lot of fellow bloggers enjoying those books.
Thanks for stopping by, Marilyn, have a great weekend.
Nice haul, I love the cover for Dissonance! 😀
I agree, Bieke, that cover is so beautiful!
Thanks for stopping by.
I took the Rules of Survival as well I was curious about it. Happy reading lady!
YAY, I hope we’ll both enjoy it, Melliane 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Ransom does not look like a book I would normally pick up, but for some reason my computer kept downloading the book covers for really long and I just saw the synopsis and now I TOTALLY want to read it. I need to try my luck over at Netgalley.
Have a good weekend and happy reading 🙂
Good luck over at Netgalley, Milka. I hope you’ll enjoy Ransom. It does sound rather interesting, doesn’t it?
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I exercised great will in not requesting Stranger on the Shore & The Agincourt Bride because I need to wrestle my TBR pile down a little into submission, lol, but I so want to read them *request muscles twitch*
Hope the impressive loot will make for great reading! 🙂
LOL Livia! I so know the feeling of the twitching request muscles! I just can’t resist, though. Although my TBR is a mountain so high I doubt I’ll ever manage to get to the top.
Thanks for stopping by.
Haha, good mental picture with the mountain! I keep on hearing the “Ain’t no mountain high enough” lyric and then my mental voice shouts “Sure is, my TBR pile!!”, lol.
I think most bloggers I know suffer both from one-click-itis and from Mt. TBR-ever-growing…
*nods* Undoubtedly true!
Rules of Survival sounds interesting, but I think I shall wait until I see more reviews. Especially since I haven’t read anything by this author in the past. Good collection of stuff this week Lex!
I haven’t read anything by Jus Accardo before either, Shelley, but I just couldn’t resist, the story sounds so good.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
VAMPIRE ACADEMY!!!! <3 And Dissonance looks really good too!
Happy Reading!
Nicole @ The Quiet Concert
I love Vampire Academy, so I needed the audio versions as well 😀 I also just received the movie, it’s going to be my reward to watch it once exams are over, Nicole.
Thanks for stopping by.

Great haul, I love Jus Accardo and almost picked that one up but didn’t..ugh. Also what do you think of the VA series on audio? I didn’t make it through the first book and everyone tells me they get better after the first one and I have been thinking of trying it on audio to see if I like it better..do you like the narrator?
I haven’t read any Jus Accardo yet, Stormi, but I really look forward to it. The first VA on audio was not as good as reading it myself… I think maybe it’s because the narrator made Rose seem less likable to me. The narrator is really good, though, because she manages to change her accent and her voice for each character, so it made things very life-like.
Thanks for stopping by, Stormi! Have a great weekend:)
Ooh, lots of books! The Joanna Hickson cover reminds me of the Phillipa Gregory books, I bet if you put them together they’d look like part of a set. Weird when publishers copy covers. I hope you enjoy them all!
Under The Mountain
You made me very curious about the cover now, Vickie… I need to check that out. I think it’s funny, too, how sometimes new books being published look like they’ve all been chosen with the same color-theme and a similar-looking person or writing.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend.
OOh nice!! Loooove Vampire Academy! Hope you enjoy listening to those and that you enjoy your other reads too! All which are new to me! Happy Reading!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!
Have a GREAT weekend!
Old Follower 🙂
I love VA as well 🙂 I can’t wait to actually have the time to start listening 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Jessica. Have a great weekend yourself 🙂
You got a great haul this week Lexxie! i’ll have to make sure to request rules of survival off of netgalley! I also got an arc of dissonance this week and the cover is absolutely gorgeous! Great haul 🙂
I was so happy when I was approved for Dissonance, Lily! Both because the cover is so beautiful, and because I love stories with parallel worlds. I just hope my expectations aren’t too high 😉
Thanks for stopping by!
I gotta admit, I requested the Gena Showalter book before I even read the blurb. LOVE her stuff 🙂
Paranormal Haven
LOL, I did the same thing Stephanie, but the summary looks great, too, good for us, eh?
Thanks for stopping by.
How are you liking the Vampire Academy audiobooks Lexxie? I’ll be finishing up The Edge books on audio this week and will need a new series 🙂
I really enjoyed the first one, Traci, even if I was a little less sympathetic to Rose when I heard the story instead of reading it myself. The narrator even puts on a Russian accent when she narrates Dimitri… *sigh*
Thanks for stopping by.
Rules of Survival is on my radar. I’m trying to refrain from requesting it! And I love the VA books so much 🙂 Great haul!
You’re a lot stronger than me, Janina, if you are able to actually refrain from requesting a book you’d like to read 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
Hmmm, it’s been a while since I read anything by Josh Lanyon… how tempting. I hope you enjoy all these!
Stranger on the Shore was pretty good, Nikki, but the mystery wasn’t too hard to figure out. However, it was still nice to read how it unfolded, and how the characters came to the right conclusion.
Thanks for stopping by.
I always forget to add my ebooks and earcs to my mailbox post and after seeing them on other bloggers post I really need to. Its so easy to forget those books. You got some great titles
Cindy, I hardly ever get any books that aren’t e-books or audio-books, so yeah, I really need to include them 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
Lots of fun books… Vampire Academy books, and Rock It!! It was fun! I missed the Jus Accardo book somehow, I really like her work! Enjoy….
Here’s My Weekly Wrap-Up!
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
Yeah, I enjoyed VA so much I wanted them in audio as well, Naomi 🙂 I haven’t read Rock It, but I look forward to it… Too bad you missed the Accardo book – this one will be my discovery of her writing 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Naomi. Have a great week 🙂
I have Dissonance but not had the chance to read it yet, hope we both like it. 🙂
Nice haul! I hope you enjoy your new books! I love the VA series… Adrian <3
Come and check out OUT’s STS
And dont forget to enter the giveaway!
Leydy from OUAT & RCE
LOVE VA series, hope you do too
The Vampire Academy series! <3 Shadow Kiss's my favorite! Oh, Dissonance was disappointing for me, but I hope you enjoy it more than I did!
Oooh Rules of Survival! I can’t wait to hear everyone’s thoughts on that one! I have so many for review already that I had to hold off. 🙁 I do have Dissonance and I’m looking forward to checking that one out. You also got some great NG books! Enjoy them Lexxie!
Dissonance – I forgot about that book until you posted it. I want it now!
Happy reading!
