Stacking The Shelves #33 – ARCs, Audios and Kindle…

Stacking The Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Participating in Stacking The Shelves has helped me to keep better track of books I’m adding to my huge TBR pile every week, and I think I have gotten a little better at not adding too many books every single week. Participating in this blog-hop has also introduced me to more new blogs, and some weeks, I add more books to my ‘might-read-one-day’ shelf than I should, but before I actually have the books on my kindle, nothing has been decided yet.

Netgalley ARCs:

Stranger on the Shore cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsStranger on the Shore – Josh Lanyon

Twenty years ago young Brian Arlington, heir to Arlington fortune, was kidnapped. Though the ransom was paid, the boy was never seen again and is presumed dead. Pierce Mather, the family lawyer, now administers and controls the Arlington billions. He’s none too happy, and more than a little suspicious, when investigative journalist Griffin Hadley shows up to write about the decades-old mystery. Griff shrugs off the coldly handsome Pierce’s objections, but it might not be so easy to shrug off the objections of someone willing to do anything to keep the past buried.

Ransom cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsRansom (Ransom Brothers #1) – Rachel Schurig

Daisy Harris has no reason to suspect that her day will be any different than usual. She’ll go to class, alone. She won’t speak or make eye contact. She’ll spend her entire day doing her best to go completely unnoticed. That’s what life is like for Daisy now—an endless cycle of loneliness and fear. A life lived hiding behind the walls she so faithfully maintains.
Then she sees it. A magazine, left behind in class. A simple picture—just his face. And it changes everything.
It’s been a year since she’s seen Daltrey Ransome. A year since he and his brothers left town to pursue their dreams of rock and roll superstardom. A year since he left Daisy behind—left her to watch as everything she knew crumbled around her. She’s been running from Daltrey ever since, desperate to keep her secret.
But she can’t run anymore. And now that Daltrey has found her—the girl he’s loved his entire life, the girl he’d give up everything for—he’s determined never to let her go again.

Rules of Survival cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsRules of Survival – Jus Accardo

If you want to survive, you have to follow the rules…

Every bounty hunter on the Eastern Seaboard is after the Morgan girl—but Shaun Denver and his partner snagged her. She’s a piece of work, and Shaun can’t decide if he wants to kiss her or kill her. When things take a sharp turn south, Shaun does the only thing he can think of to keep her close—he handcuffs them together.

Dissonance cover - (un)Conventional BookviewsDissonance (Dissonance #1) – Erica O’Rourke

Delancy Sullivan has always known there’s more to reality than what people see. Every time someone makes a choice, a new, parallel world branches off from the existing one. Eating breakfast or skipping it, turning left instead of right, sneaking out instead of staying in bed ~ all of these choices create an alternate universe in which an echo self takes the road not travelled and makes the opposite decision. As a Walker, someone who can navigate between these worlds, Del’s job is to keep all of the dimensions in harmony.
Normally, Del can hear the dissonant frequency that each world emits as clear as a bell. But when a training session in an off-key world goes horribly wrong, she is forbidden from Walking by the Council. But Del’s not big on following the rules and she secretly starts to investigate these other worlds. Something strange is connecting them and it’s not just her random encounters with echo versions of the guy she likes, Simon Lane.
But Del’s decisions have unimaginable consequences and, as she begins to fall for the Echo Simons in each world, she draws closer to a truth that the Council of Walkers is trying to hide ~ a secret that threatens the fate of the entire multiverse.

Although Dante is grateful for the adoring fans who scream for one more of his full-throttle, soul-searing songs, being surrounded by a cadre of corporate types backstage is wearing thin. Then Lacey shows up. Yeah, she’s organized, smart, quick to get him what he wants before he knows he wants it—but Dante senses there’s something else going on with sweet, sexy Lacey. One kiss tells him what that “something” might be . . . and makes him hungry for more.

    • I love Gena Showalter, Stephanie, I hope you’ll get one of her books and that you’ll have a great time reading it!

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • Jaclyn, I have started to really enjoy audiobooks, and so far, I have actually picked more books among those I’ve already read than all new ones, that may change soon when I get more used to having someone else read to me, though. I just finished listening to the first VA book, and I enjoyed it a lot. It makes chores around the house much more fun to do 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, my friend!

    • YAY for The Agincourt Bride, Grace. I did get a pretty wide-spread selection this week.
Thanks for stopping by, have a great weekend!

    • Oh, I know, I wish I had the actual physical books for some of these because they are so beautiful 🙂 I would love to buddy read Ransom, Brandee. My last exam is on June 5th – after that I’m off until the middle of September 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, my dear. *BIG HUGS* right back at you.

    • I haven’t read any Jus Accardo yet, but I have seen a lot of fellow bloggers enjoying those books.
Thanks for stopping by, Marilyn, have a great weekend.

  1. Ransom does not look like a book I would normally pick up, but for some reason my computer kept downloading the book covers for really long and I just saw the synopsis and now I TOTALLY want to read it. I need to try my luck over at Netgalley.

Have a good weekend and happy reading 🙂

    • Good luck over at Netgalley, Milka. I hope you’ll enjoy Ransom. It does sound rather interesting, doesn’t it?

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • I haven’t read anything by Jus Accardo before either, Shelley, but I just couldn’t resist, the story sounds so good.

      Thanks for stopping by 🙂

    • I love Vampire Academy, so I needed the audio versions as well 😀 I also just received the movie, it’s going to be my reward to watch it once exams are over, Nicole.

      Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Great haul, I love Jus Accardo and almost picked that one up but didn’t..ugh. Also what do you think of the VA series on audio? I didn’t make it through the first book and everyone tells me they get better after the first one and I have been thinking of trying it on audio to see if I like it better..do you like the narrator?

    • I haven’t read any Jus Accardo yet, Stormi, but I really look forward to it. The first VA on audio was not as good as reading it myself… I think maybe it’s because the narrator made Rose seem less likable to me. The narrator is really good, though, because she manages to change her accent and her voice for each character, so it made things very life-like.

Thanks for stopping by, Stormi! Have a great weekend:)

  3. You made me very curious about the cover now, Vickie… I need to check that out. I think it’s funny, too, how sometimes new books being published look like they’ve all been chosen with the same color-theme and a similar-looking person or writing.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend.

    • I love VA as well 🙂 I can’t wait to actually have the time to start listening 🙂

Thanks for stopping by, Jessica. Have a great weekend yourself 🙂

  4. You got a great haul this week Lexxie! i’ll have to make sure to request rules of survival off of netgalley! I also got an arc of dissonance this week and the cover is absolutely gorgeous! Great haul 🙂

    • I was so happy when I was approved for Dissonance, Lily! Both because the cover is so beautiful, and because I love stories with parallel worlds. I just hope my expectations aren’t too high 😉

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • LOL, I did the same thing Stephanie, but the summary looks great, too, good for us, eh?

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • I really enjoyed the first one, Traci, even if I was a little less sympathetic to Rose when I heard the story instead of reading it myself. The narrator even puts on a Russian accent when she narrates Dimitri… *sigh*

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • You’re a lot stronger than me, Janina, if you are able to actually refrain from requesting a book you’d like to read 🙂
      Thanks for stopping by.

    • Stranger on the Shore was pretty good, Nikki, but the mystery wasn’t too hard to figure out. However, it was still nice to read how it unfolded, and how the characters came to the right conclusion.

      Thanks for stopping by.

    • Cindy, I hardly ever get any books that aren’t e-books or audio-books, so yeah, I really need to include them 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by!

    • Yeah, I enjoyed VA so much I wanted them in audio as well, Naomi 🙂 I haven’t read Rock It, but I look forward to it… Too bad you missed the Accardo book – this one will be my discovery of her writing 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Naomi. Have a great week 🙂
