Sidekick Saturday #8 – Unlucky
Sidekick Saturday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC’s Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn’t have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in this week’s type
• Share a picture (if possible) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don’t include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• Put your link in the Linky thing and comment
This week, Jaclyn has chosen a side character who is unlucky in some way
My pick for the unlucky sidekick is Todd, a half-fairy-half-human boy in The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa. Todd is pretty cocky and sure of himself, even when Ethan tries to explain to him that there is danger everywhere. Todd is often bullied and beaten in school, then some faeries start beating him ups as well. And, later on, Todd is kidnapped by some strange, new faeries. Todd isn’t a very important character in himself, but he is important to show what kind of a character Ethan is. I don’t really have a lot of quotes, because, you know, Todd was kidnapped for part of the story and all 😉
The phone abruptly cut off, going dead without sending me to voice-mail. A second later, the dial tone droned in my ear. “What happened?” Kenzie asked as I lowered my hand. “Is Todd all right?” “No,” I muttered, looking down at the phone […]
What did they want with Todd? I remembered the piskie’s limp body, and empty, lifeless husk before it disappeared, and shivered.
But it wasn’t just Todd now. Something strange was happening in Faery, and I had a feeling it was going to get worse
But what could I say? That the kid who’d spent the night with us was part faery, and this creepy new breed of fey was after him for some reason?
Some of the quotes I have, I can’t really share – you know I don’t like spoilers, so I always try to be very careful not spoiling anyone when I write something on my blog… If you haven’t read the Iron Fey series or The Call of the Forgotten series by Julie Kagawa, but you like stories with faeries in them, you really should!
Who is your Unlucky Sidekick today? Inquiring minds want to know 😉 Thanks for stopping by today ! Have a fabulous weekend.

I couldn’t agree with you more about Todd’s bad luck! I was glad when Ethan came around and decided to help him because otherwise, I think poor Todd would very likely still be missing!
Hi Lee 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, Todd was too cocky for his own good, and look what happened!
Oh great! This one is the next one up for me to read. I haven’t made it to The Lost Prince yet, though I do have it in my reader. You’ve definitely made me look forward to it even more. Love the quotes you did include. Todd sounds like an interesting character for sure if he can spark Ethan into going to the Faery world. Very intrigued. Have a fantastic weekend! Jaclyn @ JC’s Book Haven.
I love the Forgotten, Jaclyn, but then again, anything that says Julie Kagawa on it will get my attentnion straight away!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope all is well with you 🙂
I haven’t read very many fairy stories, but this series has always sounded so good. I’m not doing my sidekick post, but I choose Jason Stackhouse from the Sookie universe. It’s always something with Jason. Even when his heart is in the right place, he lands himself in a heap of trouble. Have a great weekend, Lexxie!
Oh my goodness, Jason sure is one of the most unlucky characters I’ve ever read about! Poor Jason 🙁 sometimes his bad luck has nothing to do with him, either – just being in the wrong place at the worst possible time…
Thanks for stopping by, Robyn. I hope you’re having a good weekend.
Ah, you and Jaclyn both picked characters from series that I haven’t read. 🙂 Although I own the books from both! LOL I love fairy stories though and I know you are particularly fond of this series. 😉 Thanks for sharing Todd, Lexxie!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Hey Brandee 🙂 Yeah, I am particularly fond of this series, it’s so strange that you know it!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ll have a spectactular Sunday!
I haven’t read the lost prince yet 🙁 I really need to . good choice lexxie.
Thanks Jodie 🙂 I hope you’ll like it! I have to admit I usually love everything written by Julie Kagawa, though 🙂
Ah, I love Julie Kagawa. I still have yet to read the Lost Prince, but I can’t wait to. Todd sure sounds unlucky! xD
Yes, he certainly is! But at the same time, he’s kind of tempting fate as well – not heeding anyone’s warnings 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Alise 🙂
Oooh…. great pick! I enjoyed this book so much!! I was so on Ethans side too when he went back and saw his sister again too. I really like Meghan, but couldn’t help but side with Ethan.
Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
I agree… it brought the point home for me; that Meghan has actuallcy changed quite a lot.
Thanks for stopping by Naomi 🙂
I haven’t read the series yet, but I have the first book on my TBR list. I’m not much of a fan of fairy books but I might try it out sometime. I think my next Julie Kagawa read will be The Eternity Cure. 🙂
Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Oh my goodness Kaykay, The Eternity Cure is so good! I hope you’ll enjoy it!
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
